Brawling is the skill related to the use of one's open hands or small weapons used in a similar manner to one's open hands. The skill is useful for characters who wish to maintain the defensive strength offered by parrying while leaving the character's hands empty. This is useful for open-handed casting or bard instruments.

Brawling Weapons and Unarmed Combat
The following brawling weapons are suitable for use with the unarmed combat system (UCS) as wearable items. They DO NOT function as ordinary melee weapons when used with jab, punch, kick, and grapple attacks. Their damage factors, AvDs and damage types (slash, puncture, crush) do not apply. They primarily serve as an equipment platform for enchant bonus, flares and weighting etc. However, their use does add a bonus to the attack's damage factor and a penalty to the multiplier modifier.
Weapon Damage Type Ratios
This table contains the brawling weapon critical damage type percentages for successful attacks (based on player research). As an example, the closed fist will result in 100% crush critical damage for all attacks. The closed fist does not do slash critical damage or puncture critical damage.
Note: Because of smallish sample sizes for determining some of these percentages, they may not be precise in all cases, but should be close enough to give a decent representation of the damage ratios.
