The vaespilon's features are so terribly deformed by death's ravages, her expression is one of almost comical surprise, until her smile widens into a grin that is a study in terror. The skin covering the walking corpse is mottled and stretched unevenly over the bones, and the surface ripples and bulges as if putrescence is bubbling underneath. The vaespilon hisses in glee as she moves, a wave of stench preceding her like an invisible assailant.
Hunting strategies
Vulnerable to fire (symbol of holiness works wonders). Vaespilon are quick and will cast Implosion, which on particularly bad rolls can instantly vaporize the victim and cause the remains to rain down in the middle of Icemule Trace. As such, avoid letting them cast spells at all costs. They will not spawn with a spell already prepped but it is very possible to walk into a room where they have prepped a spell after seeing another adventurer.
Other information
- Vaespilon are puncture resistant.
- Vaespilon are extraplanar beings.
Behind the Scenes
"Vaespilon" may be related to the Latin word "vespillo," which means either an undertaker who buries paupers, a grave robber, or a ghoul.
