Passive Buff skills are those that provide a buff to the user's attack or defense once learned, and do not require a command to activate. Armor Specializations do require a command to be set, however once activated, lasts for up to 4 hours. Warriors, rogues, and paladins can apply the affects of an armor specialization to others.
In the case of Ascension, points are used to aid in building a character's stats, skills, resistances, or various other abilities.
