Sablecross is town devoted to the worship of Lornon. Although it is accessed from a location near Icemule Trace, its exact location has not been shared and may not be in any familiar part of Elanthia. The Five, who are the leaders of the Dusk Coven, are associated with Sablecross. While they do hold positions of prominence within the town, they do not necessarily speak for its inhabitants.

Sablecross has most amenities associated with other towns, including a bank, gemshop, furrier, pawnshop, herbalist, alchemy consignment shop, and post office, plus shopping, two restaurants with private tables, and multiple sites of interest. It uses the same currency as Icemule Trace in the form of Northwatch bond notes. It does not have public or CHE lockers, and it is not possible to travel to Mist Harbor from within.

General Information

Sablecross is accessed via an in-game puzzle. Those wishing to visit Sablecross and potentially pledge their allegiance to the Dusk Coven have likely heard rumors about an inn called the Snowcat's Den, near Moonsedge and Olbin Pass, outside of Icemule Trace. Anyone who is not CONVERTed to a Liabo deity can successfully investigate there.

The town's inhabitants largely consist of fairly normal people who happen to be Lornonites ostracized for living their lives in the rest of the world. They have since worked together to build the town that exists today.

Sablecross features a very symmetrical layout consisting of a diamond surrounding a central tower, the Bastion, which serves as its administrative seat. The Bastion itself is circled by an inner loop, with four large avenues leading to four matching gates at each of the diamond's corners. Side streets fill out the rest of the town and house a variety of shops, temples, and various town ammenities. From Bastion Circle, Rook Boulevard passes west to the Gate of Ravens, Caracal Avenue passes north to the Gate of Cats, Thresher Street passes east to the Grasping Gate, and Strix Road passes south to the Gate of Owls. A large wall encircles the entire town, protecting it from the wilds beyond. Each of the four gates lead back to the region near Icemule Trace and are a one-way exit; they do not allow acces to the wilds beyond Sablecross.

A variety of temples dominate the western half of Sablecross. Each of the arkati and lesser spirits of the Lornon pantheon are represented among them. The eastern half of the town features its commercial district.

Behind the Scenes

Sablecross was first hinted at during recent Icemule Trace storylines and Nations on the Brink, where it was initially portrayed as where members of the Dusk Coven were hiding. It was formally opened in early 2024, where its existence and access remained a game secret for several months. After its access point was relocated, the existence of the town and some of its access mechanics were shared as general information.

GM Auchand, who designed Sablecross, shared that the town is definitely located in Elanthia, however it may not be on the continent of Elanith. Its climate is not immediately close to Icemule Trace. He described the Dusk Coven as existing in symbiosis with Sablecross, as the Five are very powerful priests of their respective Arkati, however this does not necessarily mean that they lead or even speak for the town and its residents.
