Skin a red firebird feather
Other ?
Smoldering black eyes and a sharp golden beak display the fury of the firebird. A golden crest of feathers adorn the head of this large but nimble avian that continues down its long craning neck, transitioning to orange around its sleek body, then deep red along its narrow legs that end in wickedly sharp black talons. Flames dance from the firebird's wide arcing wings that leave a trail with its long tail feathers in its wake.

Other Information

The red firebird feathers attained from skinning the firebird can be used in fletching and confer fire flares to the bolts / arrows created with it.

Firebirds share many features of Griffin family creatures including their wing buffet, screech, elemental mote attack and pick-up-and-drop maneuver:

Wing Buffet

A firebird flaps its mighty, flame-tipped wings rapidly, creating a powerful gust of wind that buffets the area!
The wind knocks you off your balance and you fall over!
Your arms are forced down to your sides!
The wind then subsides.

Screech

A firebird opens its mouth and releases a shrill screech!
[SSR result: 76 (Open d100: 38)]
A twinge of fear starts to rise in your stomach, but you control the instinctive urge to freeze.

Fire Mote Maneuver

>A firebird raises its beak skyward and flaps its wings, whipping up a torrent of churning orange flames!
[SMR result: -29 (Open d100: 39)]
One of the blazing orange motes heads right for you!
What agility! What grace! A mote of scalding orange flame passes harmlessly by you!

Drop Maneuver

[SMR result: 141 (Open d100: 60, Bonus: 29)]
A firebird dives down and hooks its claws into you! With a great flap of its wings the firebird carries you into the air!
Within moments you find yourself soaring over the ground far below!

...

The firebird quickly swoops down and releases you several feet above the ground, and you flail awkwardly before landing with a dull **THUD**!
   ... 25 points of damage!
   Strong blow to your abdomen!
You are stunned for 5 rounds!
Roundtime: 8 sec.

Claw (attack)

>A firebird rakes at you with a razor-sharp claw!
  AS: +385 vs DS: +747 with AvD: +35 + d100 roll: +11 = -316

Bite (attack)

>A firebird cranes its neck, snapping at you with its sharp beak!
  AS: +375 vs DS: +534 with AvD: +32 + d100 roll: +31 = -96

Impale (attack)

>A firebird tries to spear you with its beak!
  AS: +380 vs DS: +556 with AvD: +37 + d100 roll: +13 = -126

Fire flares

One of the firebird's beak attacks references a flaming maw, but its flaming beak seems to imbue all of its physical attacks with fire flares:

In a trail of flames, a firebird extends its fearsome talons as it dives at you!
  AS: +365 vs DS: +382 with AvD: +35 + d100 roll: +89 = +107
... and hits for 1 point of damage!
   Blow glances off your shoulder.
A firebird rakes at you with a razor-sharp claw!
  AS: +365 vs DS: +382 with AvD: +35 + d100 roll: +98 = +116
... and hits for 3 points of damage!
   Weak slash across chest!
   Slightly less painful than heartburn.
** The firebird's beak crackles with flame! **
   ... 5 points of damage!
Minor burns to chest. That hurts a bit.
