A hunch-backed dogmatist's frail frame has seen many years of toil and abuse. Evidence of such hardship appears in the stooped posture of the dogmatist. A defined hump protrudes from behind the dogmatist's head, easily discerned through layers of clothing and leather armor. The hunch-backed dogmatist's eyes glance frequently from side-to-side, as if constantly waiting for something to appear.

Hunting strategies

One method of guaranteeing that a dogmatist will not automatically resurrect themselves is to completely vaporize it (a la Implosion (720)). However, if it is merely instantly killed by the spell, and not completely vaporized, it can still resurrect.

Dogmatists tend to spawn with a spell prepared, and will prepare spells even when no immediate target is in the room. It is also possible for a dogmatist to "prepare" a spell when they are automatically resurrected after death, though no outward sign of this is shown. They also have a high tendency towards casting Spirit Dispel (119).

Other information

Dogmatists possess a rarely used maneuver which allows them to gaze at an opponent and inflict varying levels of disability. These include, but are not limited to, brief roundtime, brief roundtime which inflicts a Slow effect, moderate roundtime and a forced kneel, significant roundtime and a forced prone, and completely disabling the target.

Dogmatists are able to resurrect any of the other denizens of Temple Wyneb, including other dogmatists, even while stunned. They also possess the possibility of being resurrected automatically by their deity upon dying, sometimes multiple times.

Additionally, if a dogmatist encounters the dead body of an adventurer, they may perform a ritual which removes the eyes from the body and converts them into a strong creature called a farlook.

Dogmatists will put up a barrier when cleric spells are cast at them, gaining what seems to be 100 TD in the process.

A brown stag materializes in midair, leaping out of nowhere to try to impale a hunch-backed dogmatist upon its magnificent antlers!
"What's this?" a hunch-backed dogmatist inquires, peering at Cleric. "Another zealot preaching the rhetoric of her false idol?" A silver barrier suddenly flickers into place around her as she exclaims, "Hah, I shall not be swayed!"

  Warded off!
Almost even before the attack is complete, the stag leaps away as swiftly as it came and vanishes into the nothingness from which it sprang, allowing no time for retaliation.

A silver barrier encompasses a hunch-backed dogmatist as Cleric attempts to cast on him. He coyly tilts his head in Cleric's direction, and with an insane grin calmly says, "You preach the path of the enlightened as well! Yes, good... I sense your idol is weak!"

Pausing to laugh maniacally, he continues, "Perhaps you should try and sway the kobolds, trolls or orcs to your religion? Something a bit more representative of your ilk?"
