Synopsis

Glints of metal are spotted in the Dragsonclaw forest, then moving shadows... and then a hatchet flies from the woods into the face of an Imperial archer on the outpost ramparts! Landing adventurers move toward the outpost, but the gates close as they arrive. Warchief Haidan says there'll be more until Rheshay is returned.

The Ember Vale reivers attack the outpost with a strong front from the start, then, in time, spiders approach from the forest treetops. Some head directly to the outpost, but others perch in the trees--and then fling webbing out to the outpost, creating a bridge for themselves and spiders to advance! The outpost reopens its gates, so adventurers head inside to join the battle.

Hendoran knights and Bourthian soldiers soon join the fray, but the confusion of the battle results in a lot of friendly fire--which then gets exacerbated by sympaths' magic, forcing adventurers to pull back after too many casualties in the ranks.

Meanwhile, Thadston readies his kroderine arms with pylon energy for battle, then marches toward the outpost, destroying reivers on the path. After he gets there, he uses the pylon energy to destroy the webbing connecting to the outpost. Still, the spiders inside begin to overwhelm the soldiers and Landing defenders.

The lights on Thadston's arms dim and, he stumbles and coughs, so reivers pull him to the ground for a spider to ensnare him and drag him into the woods... however, soon enough there's another large flash of blue-white light in the Upper Trollfang and he limps back into view, covered in ooze and tossing a dead spider to the ground.

As the battle continues, eventually Thrassus, Kialeigh, Aqaar, and Dendum report seeing Tyeid in town! People try to follow his movements and can't keep up, but soon enough it's reported that he's at the outpost. He gets past everyone as they fight the spiders, then they discover glowing red webbing blocking the entrance to the dungeon. They can't break through, but eventually it dissolves anyway and the group enters, where Magister Raelee reports that Tyeid taunted but there was no violence--and Rheshay is still there!

Raelee relays that Tyeid said Rheshay was dead to Haidan; Rheshay says Tyeid came to try to break her, to sever her from the Vale and Haidan. Councilors Vaemyr and Kiyna suggest Rheshay needs to help remove Tyeid; she says she can't do that from a cell; Perigourd suggests telling everyone how to get to the Vale so they can deal with Tyeid; Rheshay says she can't do that since Commander Sablo will butcher the Vale and bathe in blood. She says not all follow Tyeid, but the Empire creates a need. Sir Cryheart says he doesn't think the Ember Vale is within the area the Barony of Darkstone would control; Rheshay needs neither were the Thanatoph, Wehntoph, or Sentoph.

Rheshay says she won't pretend to understand the Landing's meddling ways, but the longer she's in prison, the more Tyeid weaves; Missoni asks what she'd do if she weren't here; Rheshay says work to weaken Tyeid since she holds sway before even Haidan came to the Vale. She says she doesn't wish Tyeid to reign nor the Vale to fade; she's the Keeper of the Vale, whose goal is prserving its people. Perigourd says the best way to do that is remove Tyeid and then call a truce; Rheshay challenges the idea of a truce with Sablo or the krolvin warlord Tyrrax who the Landing freed. She says they can't have truces with everyone and many in the Vale believe the Landing has chosen to side with slavers. She says perhaps Tyeid and Sablo both need to be removed in permanent ways, then says she's tired and they can speak again another night.

Idle Chatter

[Town Square Central]

This is the heart of the main square of Wehnimer's Landing. The impromptu shops of the bazaar are clustered around this central gathering place, where townsfolk, travellers, and adventurers meet to talk, conspire or raise expeditions to the far-flung reaches of Elanith. At the north end, an old well, with moss-covered stones and a craggy roof, is shaded from the moonlight by a strong, robust tree. The oak is tall and straight, and it is apparent that the roots run deep. You also see a pretty flower girl, a timber jaguar, the Sanies disk, a mountain greatfang, the Guennwhfar disk, the Kialeigh disk, the fiery red Fage disk, a speckled brown frog, a large acorn, a pale-faced coppery barn owl that is flying around, a mistwood serving cart with some stuff on it, an old well, some wide stone benches with some stuff on it, an herbal remedy donation bin, a round silver-banded barrel and obvious signs of someone hiding.

Also here: Andof, the body of Corlamaer who is lying down, Jimack, Lady Ithilwyn who is sitting, Sanies, Whimweaver Leafiara, Sister-in-arms Mourdeyan, Seaward Gutstorm who is sitting, Lady Guennwhfar, Stormyrain, Sandur who is sitting, Favel, Dumple, Kialeigh, Raekeal, Fage, Sir Cryheart, Andromalius who is sitting, Hanslo, Littlemelody

The sky begins to fill with huge clouds, dark and grey on the bottom, pale and white atop, their puffy crowns ascending toward the heavens.

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Wot kinna cloud dat?"

[General] Leafiara amiably exclaims, "Looks like more rain in the Landing!"

[General] Leafiara slyly adds, "...feels like it too."

Cryheart says, "A cloudy one."

Thunder rumbles in the distance as far away lightning briefly illuminates the night sky.

[General] Kataric asks, "Does that mean more reiver fighting?"

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Hmmm."

[General] Cryheart thinks, "Weather in the Landing."

Ithilwyn softly says, "I hope I didn't just doom things."

(Lithyia holds her parasol over Gutstorm.)

[General] Eleazzar asks, "What is that?"

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Parasol werk better den Cryheart armpit."

[General] Directed to Kataric, Leafiara considers, "I mean... not necessarily. But foes usually do attack under cover of night and storms. I'd call it tactically advantageous, except they do it so often we're always prepared for it."

Lithyia asks, "We all going somewhere?"

[General] Kataric thinks, "Well if we hear horns, I hope it's just trumpet practice."

Cryheart says, "I dinnae want ye in my armpirt."

Mourdeyan says, "Nah, just stickin close in the rain."

Lithyia says, "Cant believe I'm still awake again."

Lithyia says, "Gonna have to sneak in all quiet in my cottage tonight."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Shhh, Kayse here."

Kayse gives Stormyrain a lingering kiss on the cheek.

Leafiara feeds the burnished ember fox a bite of your wild rice cake.

Gutstorm puckers his lips expectantly.

Speaking to Leafiara, Kiyna says, "He likes fish best."

Gutstorm grins impishly at Kayse.

Speaking cautiously to Kiyna, Leafiara says, "I don't fish well or often, but I'll keep that in mind."

Speaking firmly to Gutstorm, Kayse says, "No. Drazaa also would not like that."

Raekeal asks, "Could I get some healing for the wounds on my arms?"

Kayse shows Gutstorm her sephwir ring.

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Who Drazaa?"

Speaking to Gutstorm, Kayse says, "My Amin...my love."

Speaking drunkenly to Mourdeyan, Gutstorm slurs, "Me cant keep track dem all."

Mourdeyan says, "Real ladies man."

Kialeigh asks, "Does it feel like rain?"

Speaking to Kialeigh, Leafiara exclaims, "It does unless you're sheltered from all of it!"

Lithyia exclaims, "Gotta get yourself a parasol!"

Lithyia says, "I have an umbrella in one of my lockers too."

Lithyia says, "Gotta be prepared."

Bending over, Lithyia hugs a damp yellow-eyed silvery lor mandrake, who responds by placing her plant-like head upon her shoulder and patting her back with her spindled root-like fingers.

Cryheart grins maniacally!

Cryheart rubs a damp yellow-eyed silvery lor mandrake.

Cryheart says, "Was chuckling at the mandrake."

From nearby, you hear Gutstorm yell, "Perigourd we plantin treesh tnite?"

Perigourd yells, "Tomorrow!"

Kayse says, "Tomorrow."

From nearby, you hear Gutstorm yell, "Int it tomorrow?"

Seaward Gutstorm just arrived.

Speaking to Gutstorm, Kayse says, "Tomorrow."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Ye mean tomorrow tomorrow or tonite tomorrow?"

Perigourd says, "As you'd have it then."

Leafiara amusedly says, "Tonight tomorrow."

Cryheart says, "Tomorrow that is nae tonight."

Kialeigh says, "Yer confusing me muchly..."

Speaking to Tikba, Perigourd says, "Yielding many of late."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Sheetle down big feller."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Gonna wear her face off."

Mourdeyan says, "Hasn't happened in all these years."

Mourdeyan says, "Ye get potluck if ye don't specify."

Signs in the Forest

Flashes of lightning illuminate the thickets of the Dragonsclaw forest to quickly reveal glints of metal.

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "War!"

Ithilwyn softly says, "Mischief is afoot."

Kialeigh says, "Now Faest is gonna die again."

Leafiara musingly says, "They've come again, I suppose."

Faest asks, "What?"

Vaemyr says, "No horn this time."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Protect kobold villich!"

Speaking to Leafiara, Tikba says, "For Rheshay."

Kialeigh says, "Leave all puppies and kitties outta kobold Village..."

Kiyna warns, "Wary, everyone."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Leafiara agrees, "That's a good point of note."

Kialeigh says, "Last time there were kidnappings."

Cryheart says, "Get ready all."

Faest says, "I think I figured out my biggest problem. The orcs in this area are more vicious creatures than the ones by Icemule."

Leafiara optimistically says, "Maybe they only want to talk."

Speaking to Leafiara, Vaemyr says, "Their war parties have always started with a horn so."

[General] Gutstorm drunkenly thinks, "Me rockign chair is unharmed."

[Locate Person spell]

[Hendoran Outpost, Dungeon]

The air is cold and the earthen walls are hugged by shadows, each one like dancing silhouettes flickering about from the lit torches set along the path. Iron-barred doors line the hallway of the dark dungeon. You also see a hand-crafted rocking chair.

Also here: Seaward Gutstorm who is sitting

Leafiara amusedly says, "He really went all the way back to check on that rocking chair."

Kiyna says, "Is it reivers, or is it Remnants..."

Cryheart says, "Ok..heading to the north gate."

Leafiara recites:

"Everyone join Cryheart!"

Cryheart says, "Just to be ready."

Leafiara recites:

"Most of you already did, but still!"

Speaking to Kiyna, Dendum inquires, "Can remants march?"

Vaemyr says, "No sign of anyone out there at the moment."

Speaking to Dendum, Kiyna says, "I don't see why not."

Fage asks, "What's the party?"

Speaking to Dendum, Leafiara says, "I mean... they could, but I don't think they should."

Cryheart says, "Perigourd went to scout."

Speaking to Kiyna, Dendum asks, ""They have the numbers?"

Cryheart says, "Moving to the north gate."

Speaking to Dendum, Kiyna says, "Hard to say."

[travel]

[Wehnimer's, Outside Gate]

Citizens, merchants and assorted dregs of society jostle against you before the great wooden gates of Wehnimer's Landing. Harried guards and militiamen try to keep the chaos to a minimum, but it is hard to keep track of those entering, let alone leaving, this large trading post. A dirt path encircling the wooden palisade of the town leads east and southwest. Nailed prominently to the wooden wall beside the gate is a sign you really should read. You also see the Wayside inn and some reinforced wooden gates.

Fage says, "Oh battle party."

Qwantto says, "Death wish for me."

Cryheart says, "Less noise here, so we can concentrate."

[General] Aqaar asks, "I've been away from the Landing for a time, who or what would be lurking out there?"

[General] Thrassus thinks, "Frenzied cannibal reivers from the Ember Vale tribe."

Nickonai deeply says, "Fun."

Ithilwyn softly says, "Let's keeeel."

Leafiara curiously repeats, "...cannibal reivers?"

Lithyia says, "Been awhile since I seen ya Nickonai."

[General] Cryheart asks, "Say what?"

[General] Fugue asks, "Dinner guests?"

Mourdeyan says, "I got a tomahawk for em to eat."

[General] Leafiara curiously asks, "Where?"

Fage's hands glow with power as he summons elemental energy to his command...

Fage channels at a kobold.

Fage looks less calm and refreshed than a moment ago.

Fage hurls a seething blast of steam at a kobold!

AS: +269 vs DS: +27 with AvD: +60 + d100 roll: +1 = +303

... and hits for 147 points of damage!

Boiling stream strikes left arm! Steamed, not fried.

The kobold's wooden shield falls to the ground.

The kobold crumples to a heap on the ground and dies.

Fage exclaims, "Got him!"

Lithyia says, "That poor kobold."

The voice of Thrassus says, "They have eaten those they take before as I understand it."

[General] Aqaar thinks, "Cannibals. Lovely. As if it isn't bad enough when the monsters want to eat us."

Fage says, "Sorry trigger finger."

Lithyia says, "Yardie would cry if he saw that kobold die."

Lithyia says, "Dont make Yardie cry."

Fage says, "Strange."

Kiyna amusedly says, "Yardie will cry if you approach him from outside his peripheral vision."

Speaking deeply to Lithyia, Nickonai says, "I have been staying away from the hustle and bustle of the landing. oh and invasions."

[General] Vaemyr thinks, "Just was checking, but outpost and the dungeon are clear, as is the cavern below it."

Lithyia says, "I gave yardie some socks today."

[General] Cryheart thinks, "We are at the north gate for who want to join us."

Lithyia says, "I want to be clear, they were not wooing socks."

Nickonai deeply says, "You sure."

[General] Leafiara optimistically thinks, "The night is young, but no contact yet."

Lithyia says, "I'm positive."

Nickonai deeply exclaims, "I bet he went Wooo!"

Tikba uncertainly says, "You should not woo any socks."

Lithyia says, "I woo by knitting socks...but I dont need to woo any longer."

Nickonai deeply says, "Wooo."

Lithyia says, "So now socks are just... friend socks."

[General] Vaemyr thinks, "Checking the Briar Patch need the Kobold Village now."

Kiyna asks, "Any sign of enemies?"

Cryheart says, "Nae yet."

Leafiara considers, "Whatever they are, they're sure taking their time."

Nickonai deeply says, "Nope, no poop on the ground."

Cryheart says, "We hae two who are scouting now."

Nickonai deeply says, "Sign."

Speaking to a flame-eyed burnished ember fox, Kiyna says, "Actually, let me put you in a safe place, first..."

Nickonai deeply says, "That's what they call it."

Nickonai deeply says, "People that scout."

The voice of Thrassus says, "I suppose since it is in the lower Dragonsclaw it could be Sablo's scouts or the like."

Nickonai deeply says, "Poop is sign."

Lithyia says, "I need that invoker woman to show up."

Nickonai deeply says, "Rangers know this."

Cryheart says, "Aye, that is possible."

Leafiara says, "I suppose I could have a look. Remnants usually wouldn't be that easy to spot, but if it's them then some targets are more likely than others..."

[travel, but there's nothing]

Leafiara concludes, "Nope, don't see anything out there."

Cryheart says, "Nothing going on around the camp as well."

Vaemyr says, "Haven't found anything yet."

Vaemyr says, "Searched the kobold village, outpost, around the camp."

Vaemyr says, "I'll keep lookin."

Nickonai deeply says, "There is nothing going on out there."

Leafiara says, "I checked the grasslands too and nothing there either."

Nickonai deeply says, "Nothing."

[General] Kiyna thinks, "Whoever's lurking out there in the Dragonsclaw, you haven't gone unnoticed. May as well show yourselves."

[General] Cryheart thinks, "So far scouts are seeing nothing."

Vaemyr says, "I'll check the hills and the baystone mine just to see."

Speaking approvingly to Kiyna, Leafiara says, "Good thought there. Literally."

Mourdeyan says, "Ow, ow, ow."

Mourdeyan says, "Frosty fingers when I do that, always fergit."

Lithyia says, "Not much else to do yet I suppose."

Lithyia says, "But wait."

Leafiara understandingly says, "Oh."

Lithyia says, "I just hope i dont lose a hand and a foot tonight... had that happen yesterday."

Lithyia says, "Most unpleasant."

Speaking ominously to Lithyia, Leafiara says, "Anything is possible."

Nickonai deeply says, "Well, the sock will keep it warm."

Shadows move in the forest.

Speaking to Lithyia, Kiyna says, "Aye. If they're going to have the hand, they may as well have the whole arm, aye? Not much good without the bit on the end."

Goldstr says, "Shadows."

Dendum exclaims, "Isn't Dendum!"

Lithyia says, "I mean I was dead so..."

Mourdeyan says, "This time."

Lithyia says, "I wasnt using the hand that worked either."

Leafiara agrees, "It's not me either."

Vaemyr says, "Nothin."

Cryheart says, "We saw some shadows."

Vaemyr asks, "Oh?"

Vaemyr asks, "Here?"

Nickonai deeply says, "Wolf."

Kiyna says, "...Be careful. It could be Remnants. Get ready to grab orbs and run."

[General] Cryheart thinks, "Some shadows seen."

Vaemyr says, "Remnants or spiders."

Lithyia says, "Spiders...."

[Realm] Missoni thinks, "Just the usual trees here."

Leafiara says, "I'm hesitant to think it's Remnants if they're letting glimpses of themselves slip *before* they strike, but then again, I've seen more foolish tactics from them before."

Speaking to Leafiara, Vaemyr says, "I mean most of them that we've seen have been no more skilled than a common bandit."

Speaking wryly to Vaemyr, Leafiara says, "Right."

Speaking to Leafiara, Dendum says, ""Think perhaps it is not them because they are not infesting shadows of city...but then may also explain why they are so bad at it outside of walls."

After the Outpost

As imperial soldiers march along the ramparts of the stone outpost within the grasslands, a hatchet goes flying out of the shadows of the woods and sinks into the face of an imperial archer, who gurgles blood against the vicious wound and falls loudly to his death.

Lithyia says, "Well..."

The voice of Thrassus says, "Reivers."

[travel]

Leafiara asks, "Reivers getting better at stealth, then?"

Tikba says, "They come for Rheshay."

[Lower Dragonsclaw, Grasslands]

Growing among the warm grasses are a few scattered trees. It is hard to tell if the forest you can see to the west is encroaching upon the grasslands or if it is slowly being harvested and replaced for grazing. You also see a large stone outpost.

[General] Tarpilor thinks, "Someone got a hatchet face."

The gate of the outpost creaks as it closes.

Dendum says, "Everyone and the stupid axes."

Lithyia says, "Erm."

The voice of Thrassus says, "Sensible."

Cryheart says, "Gate is closed."

Tikba mildly says, "Of course, we are on this side of the gates."

[General] Fugue asks, "Is that a literal hatchat in the face kind of face?"

A speckled brown frog says, "I shall feast on the flys buzzing around their corpses."

A speckled brown frog asks, "I mean... ribbit?"

An imperial archer fires from the outpost, his arrow striking a rolton!

... 50 points of damage!

Incredible strike pierces heart and runs the rolton clean through!

The rolton collapses to the ground, emits a final bleat, and dies.

[General] Haidan thinks, "Thar will be mer, an' mer, until she's return'd."

[General] Tarpilor thinks, "Yep."

Lithyia says, "Poor roltons."

Mourdeyan says, "Haidan."

Vaemyr says, "The dungeon is clear for now."

[General] Cryheart thinks, "So that is it."

Tikba says, "A choice for Larsya, not us."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Dey block da gate!"

Speaking wryly to Vaemyr, Leafiara says, "Maybe you should have stayed in there. They've closed the gates."

Vaemyr says, "Oh... I can't get back inside huh."

Speaking to Leafiara, Vaemyr says, "Noone told me."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Raelee in dere."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "She kin open portal."

Cryheart says, "The gate is closed."

Shadowy figures move among the dark of the woods. They grow in number.

Lithyia says, "Uh oh."

Leafiara says, "Well..."

Mourdeyan says, "Bring it."

Cryheart says, "Defend yourselves."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Open portal?"

Cryheart says, "Seems we fight outside."

Lithyia says, "I fully expect to end up as a corpse..."

The voice of Thrassus says, "We'll just have to build our own bone piles about the town then."

Speaking drunkenly to a pale-faced coppery barn owl, Gutstorm slurs, "Open portal?"

[General] Nairena exclaims, "Our allies are coming!"

A loud warhorn blares in the distance.

Cryheart says, "Aye."

Vaemyr says, "There's the horn."

Mauss exclaims, "Brass band practice!"

[General] Haidan thinks, "Stone by stone warriors o' da Vale, stone by stone."

Dendum asks, "Oh...is about time for the invoker yes?"

Nickonai deeply says, "Yup."

[~5100 lines of combat]

[General] Stormyrain thinks, "Sympaths be careful."

[combat]

The ghostly voice of Rasson says, "Well then."

[combat]

[General] Lithyia thinks, "Left just in time..."

[~700 lines of combat]

Leafiara says, "Well."

Cryheart says, "Inform the caiverine nae to attack me."

The ghostly voice of Mauss sighs, "Good times."

The ghostly voice of Aqaar says, "Thank you. Well fought."

The voice of Greycrown says, "Some of you killed each other."

Stormyrain says, "Sympaths."

Vaemyr says, "Sympaths."

Cryheart says, "Aye."

The ghostly voice of Nickonai deeply says, "It's cause you killed me."

Greycrown says, "You guys shouldn't do that."

Markx says, "Looks like a party."

Guennwhfar exclaims, "Party! Party!"

Stormyrain says, "It's impossible to resist when you are hit with their magic."

Cryheart asks, "Someone take Tikba?"

Kayse says, "She is not cooperating."

Kayse says, "I have been trying."

Cryheart says, "Open ye arms, Tikba."

[General] The ghost of Fage thinks, "Well that was fun anyway."

Leafiara says, "She might have been overwhelmed by the... flurry of combat."

[General] The ghost of Fage thinks, "Any of them even die? went by to fast to see anything."

[General] The ghost of Thrassus thinks, "Yes, enemies died."

Leafiara considers, "Welp. Numbers down to about half now."

Cryheart says, "I think some of ye folks attacked me."

Markx says, "Well. In my estimation, kill the sympaths first."

Speaking to Tikba, Leafiara exclaims, "Ah, there she is!"

Cryheart says, "Being sympathasized."

[~1700 lines of combat]

[General] Dergoatean asks, "I just see a bunch of corpses in Town Square and a bunch of roltons outside the gates. Should I draw the natural conclusion from that?"

[General] The ghost of Aqaar thinks, "Aye."

[General] Directed to Dergoatean, The ghost of Mauss thinks, "Yep, and good evenin'."

[General] Directed to Dergoatean, Dendum thinks, "The Reivers are attacking the empire's outpost."

Speaking to Cryheart, Greycrown says, "Careful out there. Sympathy can be a convenient excuse for some."

[General] The ghost of Thrassus thinks, "More like reivers outside the Outpost."

[gets the invoker, returns]

[Realm] Dendum exclaims, "West Gate is secure!"

Leafiara reminds, "The invoker's available if anyone needs her aid!"

Markx says, "Welp. That rolton dead."

[General] Cryheart thinks, "Outpost seems secure."

Gutstorm yells, "She takin a dirtnap, Drektor!"

Speaking to Leafiara, Vaemyr says, "While I was inside, the dungeon and cavern below were still clear."

Markx says, "There's a rolton up to the north if we want to give it an unpleasant surprise."

Markx says, "It fled."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Owlie, let ush in."

[General] Stormyrain thinks, "Invoker if anyone needs her."

[~1000 lines of combat]

Perigourd says, "Hunters."

[combat]

[Realm] Dendum thinks, "We have Bacon at west gate but also Reivers."

[~1300 linses of combat]

[General] Fugue thinks, "Bacon? Is that a threat."

[combat]

[Realm] Dendum thinks, "No is picnic."

[~1500 lines of combat]

The ghostly voice of Kiyna says, "Ow."

Markx says, "Wow. I can't seem to thwack these guys."

[General] Mucarluk asks, "Town central is under control. How is Voln?"

Speaking to Markx, Leafiara says, "They seem virtually untouchable to most magic, but if you can hurl bolts..."

[Realm] Dendum thinks, "A few along the edges of the town do not seem to be going inside."

Speaking to Markx, Missoni asks, "How are you with a web bolt?"

Cryheart says, "Get ready for next round."

Markx yells, "Bork!"

Dergoatean asks, "Anything still attacking?"

Dergoatean says, "I'm not dressed."

Markx says, "Ey its goat."

Cryheart says, "There is a lull."

Missoni says, "It is likely."

Speaking to Dergoatean, Leafiara says, "It's one of those nights for us, where they're real good at avoiding magic but not so good at avoiding weapons."

Goldstr says, "Dey be regroupin."

Dergoatean says, "I'll go get dressed."

[combat]

Mourdeyan says, "Heh, sorry...scared me."

[combat]

Vaemyr asks, "Are they attacking other locations as well?"

Missoni says, "Not that I am aware."

The voice of Perigourd says, "So far they're focusing on the outpost."

Cryheart says, "Hae nae heard."

Leafiara says, "Doesn't seem to be the case..."

Vaemyr says, "I'll be back, just gonna... check and look to make sure."

Leafiara says, "I imagine Samfelt, Sablo, Thrayzar, or others would be alerting us if attacks were happening elsewhere."

Treetops sway in the Lower Dragonsclaw forest.

Cryheart says, "Hmm."

Leafiara relents, "Then again, maybe just a matter of speaking too soon."

The voice of Perigourd asks, "Siege weaponry perhaps?"

Cryheart says, "Is possible."

Markx says, "I'ma go rescue."

Cryheart says, "They trying to open the Outpost."

Vaemyr says, "Ok so their normal forces are about as well."

Vaemyr says, "Weak troops around the walls, up to stronger up to Luinne Buienne."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Leafiara asks, "The walls being... our walls?"

Evia says, "Only saw fairly weak on the way over from town."

Vaemyr says, "Yes."

[General] Nickonai thinks, "Cryheart, please keep your weapon under control in the future."

[Leafi returns to around and outside the Landing, but only finds and kills two reivers in the process]

[General] Cryheart thinks, "Folks getting sympathasized."

[General] Thrassus thinks, "It is difficult to do so when your actions are being controlled by another."

[General] Stormyrain thinks, "Agreed, it is not the fault of those who are under that spell. It's a wicked one in the hands of our enemies."

[General] Mauss asks, "On dat note, where can I be most useful?"

[General] Cryheart thinks, "I also got attacked."

[General] Nickonai thinks, "Then don't get upset when my companion tries to take a chunk out of you then."

[Realm] Dendum exclaims, "We have west gate under control!"

[General] Mourdeyan thinks, "If cryheart walloped ye it wasn't intentional, fer sure...praps stay in the inn under a table."

[General] Mucarluk thinks, "I just had a run in with a reiver inside of town."

[Leafi eventually returns to the front lines]

[General] Kiyna asks, "Where in town?"

[General] Stormyrain thinks, "No one will be upset if your companion tries to stop someone under that spell from harming you. It is understandable."

Dergoatean says, "Body to the northwest."

[Realm] Dendum thinks, "Probably need north gate guarded then."

[General] Cryheart thinks, "I just said for it to stop, was nay upset."

[General] Mucarluk thinks, "Near the west gate."

[General] Mucarluk thinks, "Its dead."

[General] Nickonai thinks, "Why don't you keep your advice to yourself Mourd."

Dergoatean says, "Body doesn't want to move."

Spider Incursion

Rolling over the treetops of the forest, glowing in the glimpses of lightning and moonlight from above, come the enormous forms of sanguine spiders, their beady eyes shining like fiery coals and their bulbous forms glistening as if covered in rivulets of blood.

Vaemyr says, "Yeah the spiders."

Dergoatean says, "Eww."

Cryheart says, "Spiders."

[General] Stormyrain gently thinks, "Our enemies are the reivers, not each other."

[General] Leafiara thinks, "The weakest foes seem to be near the gates. Bit stronger outside the path to Voln. Strongest are after the outpost--oh, and there come the spiders in the forest, so that would be the second strongest."

Evia says, "Yuck."

Missoni sighs, "Oh, good."

Goldstr exclaims, "Sheesh!"

[General] Mourdeyan thinks, "Wasn't advice, was a statement."

Mourdeyan says, "If the heats too much."

Mourdeyan says, "Stay out the kitchen."

[combat]

[General] Crimsoneve asks, "Can't we all just get along?"

[combat]

[General] Aqaar thinks, "Such a bracing start of the night."

[combat]

Stormyrain says, "He's not been around for these enemies, and we can use all the swords we can get."

[General] Cryheart thinks, "Big spiders by the oujtpost."

[combat]

[General] Leafiara adds, "Also the spiders have come to the outpost too."

[combat]

Vaemyr says, "Well, they still absorb magic, but these seem to be less sturdy than the previous set of spiders he had."

An imperial archer fires from the outpost, his arrow striking a rolton!

... 50 points of damage!

Incredible shot impales a kidney. Too painful to even scream.

The rolton lets out a final agonized bleat and dies.

Evia exclaims, "Good shot archer!"

The voice of Perigourd says, "They're not coming in numbers yet."

Vaemyr says, "Perhaps he didn't have time to grow them as much with Drazinoth's death."

Thrassus says, "That matters little for we spellcasters."

Mourdeyan says, "There goes the food source."

[~2000 lines of combat]

Missoni exclaims, "Well done!"

Speaking to Vaemyr, Leafiara agrees, "Far, far less durable."

Markx asks, "Mind if I get the next rolton please? To test somethin and get some dinner?"

Speaking to Leafiara, Vaemyr says, "Was what I was saying, these feel like he didn't have enough time."

[General] Vaemyr asks, "Any other spider citings besides around the outpost?"

Kiyna says, "Haidan can put on what bravado he wants. He's running out of resources. That's worrying, as it means he might get desperate... or commit to even worse than he already has."

The crimson bulbous forms of mammoth spiders perch upon several treetops of the forest, stopping their advance as they remain still, silent yet webs spinning around them.

The voice of Perigourd says, "That's encouraging."

Leafiara considers, "Probably not a good sign when the spiders have plans."

[General] Dendum thinks, "They are getting in the north gate."

Cryheart says, "Aye."

[General] Leafiara asks, "The spiders are?"

[General] Aqaar thinks, "Trail to Voln clear."

[General] Dendum thinks, "Just the stupid lost ones."

Thrassus says, "We can't let them distract the bulk of us from the Outpost."

Leafiara says, "...checking on inside the gates. A moment."

[Leafi goes to check inside the town]

[General] Cryheart thinks, "Apologies to those I may hae hit when sympathasized."

[but there's nothing there, so she goes back]

Leafiara relievedly says, "Okay, I think Dendum meant stray *reivers* were getting in the gates, not spiders. Didn't see any of those."

Speaking to Leafiara, Vaemyr says, "No spiders in town that I know of, I have someone watchin for me."

Kiyna says, "Even the weakest reivers are a threat to our citizens."

Speaking to an animated flayed gigas disciple, Dergoatean says, "Glad you're protecting the outpost from the livestock."

Speaking to Kiyna, Leafiara says, "Didn't see any of those either. I think the few people there are enough to handle it all or else I'd be there immediately."

[General] Cryheart thinks, "The rain makes it hard to see for certain."

Mucarluk asks, "Whos leading?"

Leafiara points at Cryheart.

Kiyna points at Cryheart.

Speaking to Leafiara, Vaemyr says, "Also from what I remember of the landing dockworkers and miners... I think they can handle themselves sometimes haha."

Speaking cryptically to Vaemyr, Leafiara says, "Well, yes, there is that."

Mucarluk says, "Not enough dead folks to keep me in town."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Leafiara ponders, "And the blacksmiths..."

Crimson webbing begins to stretch out from the spiders upon the treetops like dripping, bloody netting. The silk glistens like strands of intenstines, sanguine and oily with murky blood. They expand from the treetops with tremendous speed, connecting with the ramparts of the imperial outpost! Dozens and dozens of reivers begin to scale the trees, racing across the blood web bridge to clash with the soldiers upon the walls!

Cryheart says, "Gds."

Kiyna asks, "They're going over the walls?"

Leafiara says, "Welp, guess they'll need to open the gates if they want help."

Dergoatean says, "Oh my."

Evia says, "Well."

Vaemyr yells, "Open the darn gates!"

The gate creaks open.

[travel]

Leafiara admits, "That was faster than I expected."

[combat]

Dergoatean says, "Good job."

[combat]

[Realm] Dendum exclaims, "Whoever said Reivers could not breech stone walls was perhaps wrong and should not say that again!"

[combat]

[General] Cryheart thinks, "We are in the Outpost now."

[General] Aerocus thinks, "Can we unlock the ballista in the west tower."

The Firebird rises into the skies, hovering there for a pregnant moment as the whine of its engines becomes almost deafening. Without warning, it streaks off into the distance!

Dergoatean says, "Firebird wants nothing to do with this."

[General] Aerocus thinks, "It helps it shoot things when it's unlocked."

Cryheart says, "Aye."

Leafiara says, "Wise."

[combat]

Mucarluk says, "They are smart for staying high in the sky."

Cryheart yells, "Ye two ok south?"

[combat]

The ghostly voice of Tayler says, "Ow."

Markx says, "Well that's not good."

Mourdeyan asks, "Oops?"

{Leafi brings bodies to the square]

Leafiara exclaims, "There we go!"

Speaking to Tayler, Dendum asks, ""Was it head?"

The ghostly voice of Mucarluk says, "That wasnt very nice."

Speaking to Dendum, the ghostly voice of Tayler says, "Nah, darn geomancers."

Dendum says, "We need guard for north gate."

The ghostly voice of Mucarluk says, "Tell me about it."

Dendum says, "Sleepy seems to be able to guard West Gate."

[General] Vaemyr thinks, "Need some help in the inner gates."

The Symbol of Need begins to burn in your mind and an image appears before you of Kelfur...

[Outpost, Outer Courtyard]

Four raised garden beds fill the courtyard with a wide crushed gravel path passing through vegetable staples to the Hendoran stables. The whinnying and neighing of horses continually fill the air and accompany the sounds of uniformed auxiliaries moving about the gardens and in and out of storage sheds built along the wall. Periodically, mounted Hendorans ride their horses southward to the main entrance of the outpost, while others return from the same direction and disappear into the stables. The flower girl asks, "Care to buy some flower petals?"

Leafiara says, "Whoa, that's a mess out there."

Speaking to a pretty flower girl, Kialeigh says, "Not the time."

Speaking to Leafiara, Dergoatean says, "You weren't kidding about magic defenses."

Leafiara says, "Why do they always jump in the way..."

Cryheart says, "They hae come to help us."

[combat]

Markx says, "This is gettin complicated."

[combat and it gets real messy]

Leafiara explains, "Once my spell starts going, it keeps going unless I stop it."

[~1800 lines of combat; to elaborate further, at this point nobody can use AoE attacks or spells without killing the knights and soldiers]

The bulbous crimson spiders move along their webbing bridge and encroach upon the outpost walls.

[~900 lines of combat]

Leafiara sighs, "This seems more hindrance than help. Can't throw my best at the reivers."

[~1200 lines of combat, then someone fogs back]

[Courtyard]

A well maintained and healthy garden occupies the entirety of the courtyard. The air here is cool and crisp, but the bulk of the monastery shelters you from wind and makes the air bracing instead of chilling. In the center of the garden is a natural spring bubbling up several inches above the surface of the encircling pool of crystal clear water. A large stone and iron gate blocks the entrance to the monastery flanked by a statue of a woman carrying a crystal staff and a set of crystalline keys facing a second statue of a kneeling young man bedecked in battle-worn black chain armor. You also see a large fel tree and a scorched black marble bench with some stuff on it.

Cryheart says, "Ooof."

The bulbous crimson spiders move along their webbing bridge and encroach upon the outpost walls.

[Leafi goes back to fight everything]

[Outpost, Outer Courtyard]

A pair of Hendoran soldiers stand at attention on either side of a black iron portcullis which leads outside the outpost. Beyond them, the courtyard fills a space between the outer wooden wall and an inner wall made of stone, where a fortified keep rises behind it. Above, imperial soldiers slowly walk the parapet of the outer wall, their eyes focused on the horizon. You also see a red-veined reiver warbringer, a black-haired reiver fighter, a red-veined reiver warbringer, a red-veined reiver warbringer, a black-haired reiver fighter, a black-haired reiver fighter, a black-haired reiver fighter, a red-veined reiver warbringer, a reinforced shield, a polished fork, a cudgel, a cudgel, the Peche disk, a red-veined reiver warbringer that appears dead, a moldy bone, a tarnished bracelet, an iced cinnamon muffin, a rusty doorknob, some tree bark, a polished plate, a grey brick tavern and obvious signs of someone hiding.

[combat]

Leafiara says, "On second thought..."

[it's a bit much due to the warbringers (would have been doable if all fighters), so she returns to Voln]

Imperial soldiers clash along the ramparts of the outpost, battling reivers and spiders.

Speaking to Raelee, Missoni says, "Well."

Missoni observes, "That was a lot of spiders."

Raelee says, "... or a cast of untrammel."

Speaking to Cryheart, Mauss asks, "Howdy again. Would i be of any use out dere?"

Cryheart says, "Perhaps."

Speaking to Mauss, Leafiara says, "At the outpost, maybe not. Near Voln, you might be overpowering, though."

Leafiara offhandedly says, "Should be back in a bit, or I'll regroup when you all do."

Cryheart says, "Ouch."

[Leafi moves to the square for healings]

Thadston's Move

There is a flash of blue-white light within the walls of Wehnimer's Landing. It flashes again closer to the town gate.

Leafiara asks, "We're readying the pylons?"

Tikba asks, "Thadston?"

Stormyrain says, "That's what I thought, too."

Leafiara says, "Ahh, better than pylons."

[General] Vaemyr asks, "Pylons are activating?"

[Realm] Dendum thinks, "Something...odd."

[General] Stormyrain asks, "Or is it Thadston?"

[General] Leafiara thinks, "Hopefully Thadston. Easier targeting."

Thrassus irritatedly says, "I hope that is Thadston."

[Realm] Dendum thinks, "Gate is still secure."

[General] Aerocus asks, "How's the the trail to voln?"

Blue-white wisps of energy trail up from the north gate, then the grasslands, as a lone figure marches towards the outpost. Rain soaks his arms, as the moonlight above gleams along the shards within his flesh.

Cryheart says, "Moving."

Dergoatean says, "Let's move."

[General] Vaemyr thinks, "Yeah... Thadston."

[combat]

[General] Aqaar thinks, "Voln path is not clear."

Dergoatean says, "These are not the primary concern." [group is currently fighting the mid-level reivers near Voln]

[combat]

Dergoatean says, "These are not the primary concern."

[combat]

[General] Aerocus thinks, "Thanks for the update."

[Realm] Dendum thinks, "....looks like one of those fancy cloaks with the glitter."

Lines of archery targets line the interior side of the outpost wall and makeshift attack dummies, scarecrow-like figures bound to wooden stakes, join them as tools to keep the Hendoran martial edge sharp. Cryheart yells, "Cross the bridge!"

Dergoatean yells, "Leave the littles alone!"

Leafiara says, "Stormy appears to have attempted to secure the outpost by herself."

[the group makes it to the outpost; combat]

Reivers rush out of the grasslands and approach Thadston, who tosses them aside with bursts of energy from his arms. Some think twice before approaching, but many more rush in, throwing themselves at the ex-Mayor, who stops to smash in their faces, snap limbs, and drive their bodies into the ground on his continued march to the outpost.

[combat]

[General] The ghost of Stormyrain thinks, "Mind yourselves in the Courtyard, it is overrun."

[combat]

[General] Leafiara assures, "Won't be soon!"

[~800 lines of combat]

[Realm] Dendum exclaims, "Someone get that human a chair!"

[~1300 lines of combat]

Thadston comes to a stop beneath the blood webbing stretching from forest to outpost. He howls, veins pulsing in his neck as blue-white energy from his arms explodes up, boiling and burning the webs and several advancing reivers fall to the ground before reaching the outpost.

[combat]

Mourdeyan says, "Courtyard overrun."

[combat]

Dergoatean says, "Thadston isn't keeping much in reserve."

[combat]

[General] Directed to Linguist, The ghost of Stormyrain thinks, "Yes that's about the way of it, these spiders are trecherous."

[combat]

[General] Leafiara calls, "Good to be back in action, eh Thadston?"

[combat]

[General] Linguist thinks, "Yep, lesson learned."

[combat]

Cryheart says, "Whew."

[General] The ghost of Stormyrain thinks, "I'm being dragged around behind a spider, and the entire outpost is overrun completely. I'll be fine."

[combat]

Cryheart asks, "All ok?"

Leafiara says, "Stormy's somewhere here."

Cryheart says, "Spiders."

You peer south and see ...

Thadston appproaches the oak gate of the outpost, blue-white energy swirling about his arms. He advances on a horde of reivers and spiders when he suddenly stumbles forward, the energy dimming around his arms and he coughs violently. Several reivers lunge forward, slashing wildly at him, dragging him to the ground just as a spider ensares him in a web and drags him off into the woods.

[combat]

[General] The ghost of Stormyrain thinks, "--oh there went Bernadette too...and Goldstr."

[combat]

[General] Tayler thinks, "I got out barely."

[combat]

[General] Aqaar thinks, "A gnome is heading for the former mayor. Gate is being held."

There is a large flash of blue-white light in the Upper Trollfang and the violent, shrieking of spiders.

[combat]

[General] Leafiara corrects, "Possibly not even managing it."

[combat; at this point there's no group anymore since everyone has been dragged every which way by webs, many dead and even those alive]

Thadston limps into view at the edge of the forest, carrying a splintered body of an arachnid with him. He's covered in ooze, and tosses the dead creature to the ground. He draws his blade and wades back into the battle, the light faded around his arms.

[combat]

Leafiara says, "Well, this is a mess."

[combat]

[General] Leafiara thinks, "Slowly, steadily managing the outpost courtyard..." [the arachnids can't hurt Goat or Leafi in any way other than dragging them around in webs, so eventually they'll win no matter what; however, it's a bit slow going]

[combat]

[General] Vaemyr thinks, "We have a small but strong group here as well."

[combat]

[General] Dergoatean thinks, "Outpost courtyards clear for a moment."

You also see the Vaemyr disk, an animated flayed gigas disciple, a mace, a thrashing vathor club riddled with spiky clusters, the sparking Dendum disk, a reinforced shield, a mace, a needle-nosed emerald hummingbird that is sitting, the Nickonai disk, a hill caiverine, the Thyrabos disk, the Wayside inn and some reinforced wooden gates.

[Outpost, Inner Courtyard]

An imposing stone tower stands at the center of the inner courtyard, taking up the majority of the space. Similar to the build of the rest of the outpost, the windows of the tower are narrow and better designed for arrows and defense than to offer light and a scenic view. A wing extends from the tower's north side and soldiers continually file northward back and forth from it. You also see an animated flayed gigas disciple, a three-fingered arm, a pair of skeletal arms, a pair of furry tarantula palpi ringed in grey, a burnt arm, a dusky grey tarantula palpus covered in bristly black hairs, a sapphire blue tarantula palpus streaked with bright yellow, the web-draped Missoni disk, the Mauss disk, the repousse copper Perigourd disk raised in leafy designs, an enormous sanguine arachnid that is lying down, an enormous sanguine arachnid that is lying down, an enormous sanguine arachnid that is lying down, an enormous sanguine arachnid that is lying down, an enormous sanguine arachnid that is lying down and a stone bench.

[General] Vaemyr thinks, "Cavern under the dungeon is clear."

[combat]

[General] Aqaar thinks, "Voln trail clear."

[General] Directed to Vaemyr, Leafiara thinks, "Not sure I'd expect that to last."

[General] Cryheart thinks, "See where Tyeid went, he is nae in the latrine now."

To the Dungeon

[Hendoran Outpost, Feast Hall]

A number of tables and chairs are set against the walls of the hall, waiting the next meal or well attended meeting. At the end of the hallway is a wide stairwell with two Imperial soldiers standing sentry at its base. Hendoran military banners decorate the stone walls along with flags of defeated enemies, a ragged Nalfein banner among them. You also see some glowing red webbing.

Also here: Whimweaver Leafiara, Peche, Sarissa Tayler, Mauss, Perigourd

Leafiara says, "Hmm."

Tayler asks, "Did he escape?"

[General] Leafiara thinks, "Some glowing red webbing in the feast hall."

[General] Dergoatean thinks, "Reminder: you can channel dispel to dissolve a web on someone."

[General] Perigourd thinks, "The cell seems locked from the outside by some strange webbing."

[General] Leafiara adds, "Blocking the way to the dungeon."

[OOC note: it can't be destroyed, though Raelee manages to get in anyway due to mechanical quirks of soldiers escorting her through doors; just imagine people trying to burn and bash the webbing for hundreds of lines even though none of it does anything]

Leafiara says, "Well."

Vaemyr says, "Oh who closed the door."

Leafiara says, "Tyeid closed it."

Dendum says, "Well."

Leafiara says, "I suppose they've accomplished their objective by now and got Rheshay."

Kiyna says, "Damn."

Dendum asks, "There was a guard at door?"

Vaemyr asks, "Isn't there another route into that cavern?"

Perigourd says, "Raelee is Inside, I believe."

Tayler asks, "Did Tyeid get away after the spiders dragged me off?"

Vaemyr says, "Yes Raelee is with Tyeid now."

Leafiara says, "He's probably in there behind the webbing."

Speaking to Leafiara, Vaemyr asks, "Can you portal to her?"

Speaking to Vaemyr, Leafiara says, "Nope." [he meant fog, but she knew that and that doesn't work either]

Leafiara says, "Suppose it's just up to whether Raelee or Tyeid is more powerful now--no, wait, even that question doesn't matter since Tyeid can summon backup."

Ensayn asks, "Anyone tried to untrammel it?"

Dendum says, "Blood Mages..."

Tayler says, "Sturdy stuff..."

Speaking to Cryheart, Mauss asks, "Wanna give this door what-for?"

Speaking uncertainly to a heavy steel door, Ensayn says, "Hello in there."

[General] Kiyna exclaims, "Thadston! You can destroy this magic webbing, right? The Feast Hall in the Outpost, as quick as you can!"

Speaking to Kiyna, Leafiara considers, "Oh, now there's an idea."

Several tiny red spiders skitter away and the webbing dissolves.

[Hendoran Outpost, Dungeon]

The air is cold and the earthen walls are hugged by shadows, each one like dancing silhouettes flickering about from the lit torches set along the path. Iron-barred doors line the hallway of the dark dungeon. You also see an animated flayed gigas disciple and a hand-crafted rocking chair.

Also here: Whimweaver Leafiara, Missoni, Town Councilor Vaemyr, Magister Raelee

Speaking to Raelee, Vaemyr asks, "What happened?"

Leafiara curiously asks, "Guessing he got away?"

Raelee says, "Taunting."

Cryheart asks, "Ye ok, Raelee?"

Raelee says, "... no violence."

Speaking to Raelee, Kiyna asks, "And Rheshay?"

Missoni says, "He does enjoy taunting."

Thrassus asks, "I assume he extracted the prisoner?"

Raelee looks over at Thrassus and shakes her head.

Rheshay Speaks

Rheshay says from the darkness of her cell, "I am nae gone."

Leafiara surprisedly says, "Huh, that's curious."

Speaking to Leafiara, Vaemyr says, "Tyeid probably doesn't want her rescued."

Missoni says, "I suppose he does not care about those loyal to Haiden."

Speaking to Leafiara, Vaemyr says, "He has more control over Haiden and the clan with her gone."

Perigourd asks, "Why come then?"

[General] Cryheart thinks, "Rheshay is still in her cell."

Rheshay says from the darkness of her cell, "He came to try tae break me."

Leafiara says, "Hm..."

Raelee says, "He said she is dead to Haiden."

Missoni curiously asks, "To break you?"

Thrassus says, "He obviously gave up at the last moment then."

Cryheart asks, "Aye, break ye?"

Rheshay says from the darkness of her cell, "Aye, tae break me. To sever me from tha Vale and our warchief."

Missoni asks, "Did he succeed?"

Thrassus says, "Well, that was rude of him."

Vaemyr says, "So that she couldn't return."

Bernadette softly says, "Aye."

Leafiara asks, "Bit odd of a move to commit that many resources to such a minor--well, wait, *would* it be a minor thing? Or would that be some major statement?"

Cryheart asks, "He did that cause of your attempted parlay?"

Rheshay says from the darkness of her cell, "Nae, he only show'd his colors, true as ev'r befer."

Thrassus says, "I suppose you have ran out of usefulness to him, then."

Vaemyr says, "Since she's a liability I guess as is..."

Missoni agrees, "He certainly did that."

Rheshay says from the darkness of her cell, "Haidan came fer me, no doubt. Tha Spider saw a chance within."

Vaemyr says, "This is what we been saying before. He needs to be removed, permamently, or you will have no more clan."

Kiyna says, "Knowing the scum he is, Rheshay, will you not help us remove him? The Ember Vale could still be spared his cruelty."

Missoni says, "And what will Haidan think of that? It seems counter to his plan."

Vaemyr says, "It's only a matter of time before he figures out how to control Haidan completely, or takes Haidan's blood for himself."

Rheshay says from the darkness of her cell, "I cinnae do not a t'ing in this cell."

Vaemyr asks, "If you weren't, would you help remove him?"

Tayler asks, "Was that always there?"

Tayler points at a jagged fissure.

Vaemyr nods at Tayler.

Tayler says, "Oh."

Speaking to Tayler, Mauss says, "Saw that myself."

Perigourd says, "You could tell us how to get to the Vale so we could deal with Tyeid directly, as well."

Rheshay says from the darkness of her cell, "I cannot commit tae such a wide action. I cinnae hurt the Vale's war against tha Empire. But I also cinnae suffer the Spider long'r."

Mauss apprehensively remarks, "I hope nothin' comes outta there right now."

Mauss glances at a jagged fissure.

Rheshay says from the darkness of her cell, "Ye will butch'r the Vale. Yer grunt lad will bathe in blood."

Mourdeyan asks, ""so ye just giving up?"

Thrassus says, "The Vale's war against the Empire will lead to its destruction."

Kiyna admits, "Sablo would slaughter every last one of them and we all know it."

Vaemyr says, "He would."

Leafiara pontificates, "So we need to convince Elidal some kind of middle ground can be reached, then?"

Mourdeyan says, "Afraid ye may be right."

Missoni remarks, "What use is winning the war with a Shaman who will then consume you all from the inside?"

Cryheart says, "Destroy the shaman."

[General] Aqaar asks, "Where is this strange webbing and cell?"

Leafiara clarifies, "...and by middle ground I mean keep Sablo far away from any of this."

Rheshay says from the darkness of her cell, "Not all follow tha Spider. But the Empire creates a need."

Ensayn unhelpfully says, "I don't follow the spider."

Speaking to himself, Dergoatean asks, "Can't we all just get along?"

Speaking to Leafiara, Missoni agrees, "Perhaps a treaty could be reached."

Speaking to Leafiara, Dendum asks, ""What is the word when it is not peace but it is not fighting for some agreed upon time?"

Cryheart says, "I dinnae think the Ember Vale is within the area the Darkstone Barony would control."

Speaking to Dendum, Leafiara asks, "Truce?"

Speaking to Leafiara, Dendum says, ""Longer time."

Vaemyr says, "And that's the problem, you need to find another way, besides battling them."

Rheshay says from the darkness of her cell, "Neith'r was the Thanatoph."

Speaking tentatively to Dendum, Leafiara asks, "Ceasefire?"

Rheshay says from the darkness of her cell, "Or Wehntoph."

Rheshay says from the darkness of her cell, "Or Sentoph."

Tikba just arrived.

Speaking to Dendum, Tayler asks, "Non aggression pact?"

Mourdeyan says, "Thassit."

[General] Leafiara thinks, "The webbing's gone, but the cell is through the door in the feast hall of the outpost."

Speaking to Dendum, Vaemyr says, "A treaty for a ceasefire or such."

Mourdeyan says, "Mutual."

Mauss says, "Armistice."

Cryheart says, "Ceasefire."

Dendum says, "Armstice."

Kiyna says, "If Sablo will respect a treaty. I don't mean to overly disparage him, but he shows a clear pattern of behavior."

Leafiara says, "Oh, he won't."

Mauss says, "See? I ain' dumb ALL the time."

Tikba asks, "Have you negotiated a peace?"

Speaking offhandedly to Tikba, Leafiara says, "Not yet."

Perigourd says, "As I recall, Gnul, and your people began the killing. The Empire had no interest in either seemingly till then."

Perigourd says, "I would expect them to be reasonable."

Ensayn insistently says, "Not enough whiskey to negotiate properly."

Perigourd says, "Dikirk as well has talked of accepting those who would return."

Rheshay says from the darkness of her cell, "I will nae pretend to understan' yer meddlin' ways. Do what ye think ye mus' or can, but the long'r I am 'ere, the mer tha Spider weaves."

Speaking to Ensayn, Mauss says, "I could contribute ta that mebbe."

Kiyna says, "We need to talk to Elidal about this, at least."

Mourdeyan says, "Until there is discourse, non agressive on all sides, naught can be changed."

Tikba says, "Surely he will weave regardless."

Missoni asks, "And what would you do if you were not here?"

Rheshay says from the darkness of her cell, "Work tae weaken the Spider."

Missoni asks, "How?"

Cryheart asks, "What if we aided ye in weakening the Spider?"

Rheshay says from the darkness of her cell, "I hold sway, befer ev'n the blood o' Hagga came to us."

Missoni furrows her brow.

Kiyna says, "I assume by speaking against Tyeid and his ways to Haidan."

Leafiara considers, "Sounds about right."

Vaemyr says, "Unless he's permanently removed, his weaving will still happen, regardless of you here or not. There is also the fact that... many of us, most? many... do not wish for your people to war with the Empire."

Mourdeyan says, "Yet, here ye sit , I am not bein a naysayer....but."

Speaking to Kiyna, Leafiara says, "Or possibly more of the clan, from what she just said."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Dendum says, ""Some."

Tikba asks, "What brought your change of mind?"

Speaking to Dendum, Vaemyr says, "It's many."

Speaking to Tikba, Leafiara explains, "Tyeid was here, but it seems he opted not to free her and mocked her instead."

Mourdeyan says, "Peraps a little cooperation would help."

Tikba says, "Betrayal."

Rheshay says from the darkness of her cell, "I dinnae wish the Spider to reign, and I dinnae wish the Vale tae fade. I dinnae wish us to seem weak in eith'r."

Speaking mischievously to Tikba, Dendum remarks, ""Is so suprising!"

Mourdeyan says, "Then help us to help."

Kiyna says, "Would it be possible for us to get Elidal to speak with her? An accord might be reached."

Dendum asks, ""How can the Spider be weakened without you betraying the Vale?"

Cryheart says, "Mutual understanding for the need of both."

Tikba says, "You must kill Tyeid yourself, then."

Tikba says, "It is the only way to avoid the appearance of weakness."

Perigourd says, "Peace isn't weakness."

Speaking to Perigourd, Kiyna says, "That's not how a lot of reivers see it, though."

Tikba politely says, "I said the appearance of weakness."

Speaking to Perigourd, Kiyna adds, "Not all, but some."

Mauss asks, "Would some whiskey help ya speak more freely, per'aps mebbe?"

Rheshay says from the darkness of her cell, "I am the Keeper o' tha Ember Vale. I am nae her warchier, or her shaman. I am nae a fool."

Speaking to Kiyna, Perigourd says, "I'd say most of them don't, but they know it's value in need well enough."

Missoni curiously asks, "What is the Keeper's role?"

Mourdeyan says, "How can y'protect the vale sittin in a cell bein tortured."

Rheshay says from the darkness of her cell, "Tae preserve the Vale and her people."

Leafiara offhandedly says, "In any case, if we're not killing Tyeid, then frankly I even less understand what we're fighting for than I already did."

Rheshay says from the darkness of her cell, "I dinnae say he cannot be kill'd." [OOC note: This conversation is a bit chaotic even for me, but I think Rheshay is responding to Leafi here. However, Leafi wasn't actually talking to Rheshay, but was poking at Perigourd's claim that peace isn't weakness, which in turn appeared to have been in response to Tikba saying that Rheshay needed to kill Tyeid. In other words, Leafi was more or less agreeing with Tikba that no good option involves leaving Tyeida alive. That said, as I look at it now, I'm not sure I understand what Perigourd meant either considering that his very next line below calls for removing Tyeid. Still, if he means removing with anything short of lethal force, then Leafi would disagree, hence she said what she said and Rheshay misinterpreted it as a jab at her.]

Perigourd says, "The best way to preserve the Vale would be to convince Haidan to work with us and remove Tyeid, and then call a truce."

Rheshay says from the darkness of her cell, "Thar is a way things could be done. But givin' is nae jus' on our side."

Rheshay says from the darkness of her cell, "A truce? Wit' that monster grunt? or yer krolvin warlord freed?"

Perigourd says, "Some of us would be happy to help with Tyrrax as well."

Perigourd folds his arms over his chest.

Tikba mildly says, "Sablo can be controlled."

Leafiara agrees, "We'd need to keep Sablo away, yes."

Rheshay says from the darkness of her cell, "Ye cannot have truces with everyone, and many in the Vale believe ye Landin' kin have chosen yer side."

Rheshay says from the darkness of her cell, "Wit' slavers."

[General] Leviathoar thinks, "300k for a raise in illy.. last call."

Mourdeyan says, "Ye know the ways of your folk better than we."

Tikba evenly says, "Yes, it is a difficulty."

Cryheart says, "Nae all agree with the agreement with the krol."

Missoni says, "Well, you are not in the Landing's dungeon, so perhaps an accord can be reached with Lord Elidal."

Rheshay says from the darkness of her cell, "Perhaps both tha Spider and Sablo need to be remov'd, in permanent ways."

Leafiara says, "Yes, well... the majority of people who decided to release Tyrrax aren't here at the moment."

Leafiara says, "Actually, wait..."

Vaemyr says, "Perhaps you could instead reach an accord with the Empire, as a united front against the Krolvin instead, try to build an accord, mutual understanding. The other clans could also join in such an accord, which would allow you all to be stronger together."

Leafiara muses, "...it's not all that far off, though." [Dendum, Kiyna, and Tayler were present while Drektor, Goldstr, and Lylia weren't, so the split was perfectly even]

Rheshay says from the darkness of her cell, "I am tired, we will speak again some night when ye have mer."

Mauss says, "I shot dozens o' ballista shots at Tyrrax's peons, meself."

There is a shuffling in the cell and Rheshay goes quiet.

Discussion Afterward

Leafiara amiably says, "Well, that's fair enough."

Tikba says, "Those who freed Tyrrax did so for the same reason the reivers have acted, to protect their people."

Dendum says, "Oi, stop being lazy Reiver."

Mauss says, "As did most o' us here, I imagine."

Leafiara concludes, "So... Elidal seems the only path forward here."

Mourdeyan says, "May you find succor in rest."

Leafiara says, "Actually, wait. Maybe Larsya too."

Leafiara says, "I mean, Rheshay's being held in her outpost."

Speaking to Leafiara, Tikba says, "He always was, since we cannot force the cell ourselves."

Kiyna says, "Aye, Larsya should be in charge... but I think she would defer to Elidal on this matter."

Speaking to Leafiara, Perigourd says, "As she was taken by Sablo's command, I expect she is technically his prisoner."

Kiyna says, "As Sablo is the one who put her here."

Tikba wryly says, "They would not allow us."

Cryheart says, "There needs to be a discussion with all."

Dergoatean says, "Well then."

Mourdeyan says, "And hasn't protected her it seems."

Tikba asks, "Why would Sablo protect a prisoner?"

Ensayn asks, "Would this discussion involve killing folks?"

Mourdeyan asks, "Is he just leavin her to rot then?"

Speaking to Tikba, Dendum inquires, ""Why would the Sablo take a prisoner unless he had use for it?"

Speaking to Tikba, Dendum says, ""Does not seem the Monster's ways."

Speaking to Dendum, Tikba says, "He thought he had use. He did not."

Speaking to Dendum, Leafiara says, "True, Sablo usually vastly prefers killing."

Tikba says, "I am sure he intended to put her to the question more forcefully."

Cryheart says, "There is a reason, but we dinnae be aware of it now."

Tikba says, "Perhaps he was told not to."

Kiyna says, "Either way, the hour is late, and there is naught left to be gained here. Beyond bothering Rheshay."

Mauss sighs, "Thinkin' is hard."

Thrassus says, "I am returning to town."

Cryheart says, "Same."

Thrassus gestures crisply and utters a practiced phrase as raw elemental energies issue forth from his dimly glowing eyes.

Thrassus gestures.

Dark, swirling mist billows before you from nothingness, tiny pinpoints of light glimmering from its inky depths. Slight crackling can be heard from within and the scent of ozone tickles at your nose. Suddenly, a blinding arc of lightning tears through the air and stikes Thrassus!

Thrassus's skin hardens for a moment and softens the attack!

... 5 points of damage!

Mild electric jolt sends Thrassus into spasms.

He is stunned!

Cryheart says, "Back to town."

Cryheart says, "Ouch."

Speaking to Thrassus, Kiyna asks, "You alright?"

Leafiara says, "Such hard fighting over so little... whatever this even was."

Mauss exclaims, "I'll leave da whiskey!"

Thrassus says, "Yes. Just a minor mishap."

Speaking to Leafiara, Dendum says, ""Hrmm....proof of power."

Cryheart says, "Leave my group if ye dinnae want to go back to town."

Tikba says, "I must pray, then."

Thrassus says, "Of course it's blocked here."

Speaking to Dendum, Leafiara agrees, "That makes sense."
