For every two Bard spellsongs known, a bonus of +1 is added to the base armor bonus, for a maximum bonus of +35. For example, a level 20 Bard that knows 15 Bard spellsongs would sing song armor with a bonus of +23.

Making It Pretty
As a very welcome Christmas present, on 25 December 2005 GM Mestys announced that customized Sonic Armors were possible. All such alterations must follow the standard alteration limits, including the 15/15/15 rule; a "long" or "show" description is permitted.
*Such alterations are available for Sonic Blade Song (1012) as well as for Sonic Armor (1014) and Sonic Shield Song (1009).

Sonic Armor weaves vibrating air and magic around the caster, creating a sonic barrier that effectively acts as magical armor. The base enchant is +15. A bonus of +1 is added to the armor's enchant, rounded up, for every two Bard Base ranks, up to a maximum of +35. Similar to Sonic Shield Song (1009) and Sonic Weapon Song (1012), Bard Base ranks known prior to learning the spell count towards the enchant bonus of the armor. Thus, upon learning the spell, a Sonic Armor with an enchant of +22.

In addition, Sonic Armor provides resistance to heat, cold, and electrical attacks, and is slightly susceptible to impact attacks. The susceptibility to impact attacks will not change as the Bard gains levels, but the heat, cold, and electrical resistance will improve with further training in the Bard Base circle and Elemental Lore, Air. There will always be at least one level of crit resistance, minimum. Like real armor, use of Sonic Armor is dependent upon training in Armor Use.

Sonic Armor weighs 25% (truncated) of the standard armor weight (e.g., augmented chain weighs 6 pounds). But since it behaves as armor, the reduction in weight compared to the normal weight of the armor sub group (ASG) is subtracted from carried weight, thus lowering encumbrance. Heavier ASG's have a greater effect.
