The vaespilon's features are so terribly deformed by death's ravages, her expression is one of almost comical surprise, until her smile widens into a grin that is a study in terror. The skin covering the walking corpse is mottled and stretched unevenly over the bones, and the surface ripples and bulges as if putrescence is bubbling underneath. The vaespilon hisses in glee as she moves, a wave of stench preceding her like an invisible assailant.
Hunting strategies
Vulnerable to fire (symbol of holiness works wonders). Vaespilon are quick and will cast implode. As such, avoid letting them cast spells at all costs.
Other information
- Vaespilon are puncture resistant.
- Vaespilon are extraplanar beings.
Behind the Scenes
Vaespilon may be Latin for "gate of wasps", where the Latin "vespa" is wasp and the Turkish "pilon" would refer to the gateways of temples. This would potentially refer to the Hindu thread in the Vvrael quest, where the demon Arunasura is ultimately destroyed by a vast swarm of wasps and hornets.
"Vaespilon" may also be related to the Latin word "vespillo," which means either an undertaker who buries paupers, a grave robber, or a ghoul.
