Synopsis
Thagoria arrived outside of Moot Hall and made general conversation for over two hours. She was told of an air and lightning elementals invasion the prior night, but noted that she was aware, as she is stationed here for now to monitor Melgorehn's Reach. Thagoria informed everyone that it looks like the Basilica will likely put Ambassador Vespasius Koryth Faendryl in charge of the investigation, as a compromise given the internal politics between the Archchancellors of the Pentact divisions. This included not privileging Malevort and Dracovir over one another, and the Armata bristling at the expansion of the Palestra into the outlands, and probably other foreign policy factors. Thagoria said we will likely see movement on the investigation in the next week, that the Basilica is working out "scopes of authority", and what matters with history of Faendryl involvement the Basilica does not want pried into excessively. But that the higher authorities are unlikely to use her as their mouthpiece.
Thagoria warned that Vespasius the "most undiplomatic of diplomats" and an "imperious and difficult" personality, but that people would be unlikely to have to deal with him much directly and to not worry too much about his "rhetoric." Thagoria explained that while Vespasius has the standing to act as Ambassador, if assigned to an embassy, House Faendryl would only ever have embassies with other Houses. Lesser powers get smaller diplomatic missions or "legations." She also said that if the Basilica had an embassy in Ta'Vaalor, Vespasius would likely be its Ambassador, as it would need to be someone who can stand up against Chamberlain Retassal er'Anlan Vaalor. Vespasius is better understood as a "High Legate", something like the Northern Sentinel of the Turamzzyrian Empire, except he would be the civilian authority to whom the provincial legions would be answering.
Various KST history and political topics were discussed. This included the Star of Khar'ta, which Thagoria said belongs to the Basilica but would require too much force to recover right now, as well as Grishom Stone having caused the Ithzir invasion of 5116 with it. Thagoria casually mentioned that Chancellor Virulia was ready to launch a full invasion of Darkstone Bay in 5116, if the locals had failed to stop the Ithzir from establishing anchors on this side of the veil. The Kasendra Accords were also mentioned, which got some venom out of Thagoria, who called it Nalfein "treachery" and that it had made important people "very mad." Implying it was militarily threatening, and violating their authority along the coasts. But that she had to restrain herself, because she is not authorized to speak as the voice of the Basilica on those subjects.
Previously on KST:
Three weeks earlier there was a shock wave in the veil that was caused by Aralyte's soulstone interacting with the mana storm of Melgorehn's Reach and apparently the Shadow Realm. This was noticed by Thagoria of the Faendryl Basilica, who learned of recent shadowy Ithzir invaders, and the apparent survival of the Palestra Blade Aralyte for ten years in that demonic valence. After reporting this to the Basilica, Thagoria returned to say there will probably be an investigation, and she distributed a more powerful Sacrifice method through the sorcerer guilds. Then on this night she returned to say the investigation is imminent.

Log
This was a pure discussion night in front of Moot Hall.
Greetings and Pleasantries
[Realm] Thagoria thinks, "Good evening, Wehnimer's Landing." [General] Lylia thinks, "Good evening to you, Guildmaster." [Town Square, East] Here in the center of a broad plaza near the commercial area of the bazaar stands the impressive facade of the slate-roofed Moot Hall, where the citizens of Wehnimer's Landing hold various official, religious and social functions. Facing the square are some of the town's more prosperous shops, still doing business with the many customers who still frequent the streets at night. You also see a huge dark wagon with a glowing blue-white pylon on it, a large purple wooden barrel, a wood-framed message board and a dark green wreath with Imaera's lace hanging from the doors of Moot Hall. Obvious paths: north, east, south, west Thagoria just arrived. Bathcwyn Missoni flounces in amidst a diffuse cloud of prismatic glitter. [General] Thagoria asks, "Where is everyone tonight?" Missoni blinks. Missoni smiles. [General] Helnora thinks, "Kraken's Fall." [General] Ouidanna thinks, "I am over here." Speaking in Faendryl, Missoni greets, "Guildmaster." Speaking in Faendryl, Thagoria says, "Good evening." Speaking in Faendryl, Missoni cheerfully says, "Fair eve." [General] Bluey thinks, "And I am over there." [General] Lylia thinks, "Scattered to the winds, I think. I loitered briefly in front of Moot Hall." Speaking hopefully in Faendryl to Thagoria, Missoni asks, "You are well?" Speaking in Faendryl, Thagoria says, "Indeed. I am." Missoni nods approvingly. [General] Thagoria thinks, "I am at the Moot Hall." Thrassus suddenly fades into view. Thrassus nods in greeting. Imperatrix Lylia just arrived. Missoni smiles. Missoni nods to Thrassus in greeting. Lylia inclines her head. Thrassus says, "You missed a lively evening last night." Sir Cryheart's group strides in with fluid grace, each footstep leaving behind a faintly glowing, misty green owl feather that twirls in his wake. Thagoria says, "I watched it at some distance. Air and lightning elementals." Lylia says, "Good evening, all." Speaking to Lylia, Maags exclaims, "My lady hellos!" Thrassus says, "There was an air and lightning elemental assault." Thrassus nods at Thagoria. Speaking to Lylia, Puptilian says, "Mayor." Raelee nods slowly at Thagoria. Speaking warmly to Maags, Lylia says, "Always so good to see you." Speaking to Puptilian, Lylia says, "Mayor." Thagoria says, "I have been stationed here for the time being." Thrassus grins at Thagoria. Cryheart nods at Thagoria. Thagoria says, "Evening, all." Lylia gazes with interest at Thagoria. Puptilian nods to Thagoria in greeting. Cryheart says, "Good evening." Speaking to Thagoria, Thrassus says, "You might end up going native." Cryheart turns toward Thagoria and renders a sharp hand salute. Puptilian says, "Good Evening." Speaking to Thagoria, Maags says, "Good eves. sorries we problies made a lot of noise so sorries to interrupt." Maags flushes slightly, some color reaching her cheeks. Raelee glances at Thrassus. Thagoria says, "I have heard that happens around here." Thrassus grins at Raelee. Lylia says, "Ah, it is a pleasure to have you here with us." Missoni flashes a quick grin. Speaking to Thagoria, Raelee says, "I do not recommend it." Thagoria says, "But you have their Northern Sentinel speaking Faendryl, so perhaps I was already native and have nothing to worry about." Speaking to Thagoria, Puptilian says, "The town is not that bad." Lylia chuckles. Missoni gazes in amusement at Thagoria. Maags says, "This is the best town." Maags shrugs. Cryheart says, "For the most part." Cryheart nods. Lylia says, "Yes, well, there is a story behind that. As there is for so much here." Thagoria nods at Lylia. Thagoria says, "The Ithzir invasion of 5116." Puptilian says, "Had dinner with the Northern Sentinel. Interesting gentleman." Lylia nods at Thagoria. Maags says, "They were annoying." Lylia nods at Maags. Cryheart nods at Maags. Thagoria says, "The Basilica has been filling me in on the recent decades of this town." Maags says, "They ended up not liking it here." Maags giggles. Thagoria says, "The branches that keep a closer watch on such things than I do." Speaking to Maags, Puptilian says, "They like it enough to be buried here." Puptilian flashes Maags a wolfish grin. Maags grins at Puptilian. Thrassus says, "I am surprised they kept that close an eye." Thagoria says, "Surprisingly dangerous things happen here." [General] Cryheart thinks, "Thagoria is just outside of Moot Hall." (Regwen glances at her fingere.) Puptilian says, "We are in the middle of no where without a standing army to protect us." Puptilian shrugs. Maags says, "Usuallies jus when we are content again too." Thagoria nods. Speaking to Thagoria, Regwen says, "Yes sometimes dangerous things happen all over." Cryheart says, "We do have some protection from baddies from the Empire." Puptilian nods at Cryheart. Thagoria says, "Not enough, it seems." Maags says, "And knights." Maags gazes admiringly at Cryheart. Cryheart nods at Thagoria. Cryheart grins at Maags. Lylia says, "Putting the 'protect' in 'protectorate,' as it were. Theoretically." Speaking to Thagoria, Puptilian says, "Enough that the town stands. We may be an odd group of people but we are good in a fight." Speaking to Lylia, Raelee says, "... yet it is... complicated."
Grishom Stone, Elithain Cross, the Star of Khar'ta
Lylia says, "But I do not think I impugn any soldiers or knights if I say that certain enemies are beyond the reach of any sword." Thagoria says, "Punching above your weight by the numbers. Like the Vaalor." Lylia tries hard to stifle a laugh and covers her failure with a loud clearing of her throat. Puptilian says, "When its your home, your family, you are more motivated to protect it." Puptilian shrugs. Thrassus grins at Lylia. Regwen says, "For the most part, we do stand together." Thagoria asks, "Is it true that a human sorcerer criminal here has the Eye of Ta'Ashrim?" Etanah just arrived. Puptilian asks, "Stone still have it?" Cryheart says, "I hae lost track." Etanah leans against a huge dark wagon. Lylia simply says, "Yes." Thrassus says, "He does." Maags exclaims, "Also since we has such a diverse population we do not all think the same which can put us in arguements often but usuallies is the detriment of enemies because somebodies can figure out the solution!" Puptilian mutters under his breath. Puptilian slowly empties his lungs. Thagoria nods at Maags. Raelee nods absently. Speaking to Thagoria, Puptilian says, "We can bury that criminal." Maags raises her fist defiantly. Thagoria says, "That is part of the genius of the Pentact." Lylia says, "Just so." Etanah looks thoughtfully at Thagoria. Missoni agrees, "Many approaches. One cause." Thagoria says, "It sounded like this stone man was responsible for the Ithzir invasion a decade ago." Thagoria says, "But I did not sense anything like that artifact being used." Speaking to Thagoria, Raelee says, "... he was quite accomplished, magically, even before he acquired the Gale Stone." Cryheart says, "Such an artifact attracks all of the baddies for using it for evil purposes." Etanah huskily asks, "Is there a threat to our town?" Puptilian says, "He has always wanted to be greater then the Arkati. Its possible he has powers beyond the eye now." Speaking to Thagoria, Raelee explains, "Blood." Speaking to Raelee, Thagoria asks, "He was a conduit for the Shadows previously?" Puptilian nods at Thagoria. Lylia says, "Hmm. He tends to be blamed for anything and everything, and it is understandable; such a surmise is correct more often than not. But sometimes it is uncertain how much he is responsible for doing." Puptilian says, "Altehdeus." Puptilian says, "Althedues." Speaking to Thagoria, Raelee says, "Yes. He achieved that without the Stone." Speaking to Etanah, Lylia says, "I would say the recent incursions of shadowy Ithzir bode ill, personaly." Regwen says, "We have been plagued by shadows." Thagoria says, "Your museum has a library with a remarkably self-important book about it. Something of an autobiography." Thagoria says, "Beyond the Arkati." Lylia grins. Lylia says, "Yes." Lylia says, "It is an entertaining read." Regwen raises an eyebrow in Thagoria's direction. Speaking huskily to Lylia, Etanah says, "They're actually making a difference? There is always someone out to stomp on the Landing." Thrassus asks, "You have read it?" Thrassus cocks his head at Thagoria. Thagoria says, "He found himself on the.. Erythro Island... the blood island of the Shadows." Puptilian nods at Thagoria. Thagoria says, "Which is where he got his powers." Puptilian says, "He sacrificed many women to bring that island to being." Lylia sets her mouth in a thin line of disapproval. Etanah growls ferociously! Maags clenches her jaw. Missoni narrows her eyes. Thagoria says, "Interesting." Thagoria says, "The island was raised by the Faendryl sorcerer Granlestal." Thagoria says, "Which is why Aralyte finally executed him." Lylia nods. Lylia says, "She did what she had to do." Thagoria says, "But then when Aralyte and a team of Palestra went back for it, they could not locate the island again." Puptilian raises an eyebrow. Missoni curiously asks, "Is it in the Shadow valence?" Puptilian says, "I thought it was destroyed when we defeated Stone that night. Could be wrong." Thagoria says, "My understanding is the island was destroyed by this town almost fifteen years ago." Thrassus says, "It could be a movable island." Thrassus snickers. Thagoria says, "But between those times, the Palestra was unable to locate it." Lylia nods slowly at Thagoria. Missoni looks thoughtfully at Thagoria. Regwen nods slowly at Thagoria. Puptilian says, "That was when Althedeus changed from using Stone as his medium to Cross." Thagoria says, "Then it would seem Aralyte must have pursued the matter on her own." Thrassus says, "She seemed rather the determined sort, so that makes sense." Thagoria asks, "Elithain Cross? The one who invited the other Houses to war on the Turamzzyrian Empire?" Puptilian nods at Thagoria. Missoni frowns. Lylia nods at Thagoria. Thrassus says, "That wasn't very subtle of him." Thagoria says, "He did not invite House Faendryl." Speaking to Thagoria, Puptilian says, "The entity Althedeus used Cross for its own needs and Cross used that power to attack the Empire." Thagoria says, "It must have been his sense of self-preservation." Missoni wryly says, "No one seems to." Thagoria nods at Missoni. Speaking to Thagoria, Lylia says, "The one who made promises about the restored 'Elven Nations,' yes. Cross was the worst kind of charlatan." Speaking to Maags, Lylia says, "I know more than a few people who were swayed by that nonsense." Puptilian says, "Cross at the time was also known as Lord Winter." Puptilian shrugs. Speaking to Maags, Regwen says, "Too many." Maags frowns. Regwen nods in agreement at Maags. Lylia scornfully says, "Abject idiocy." Thagoria nods. Thrassus says, "Assuming since no continent-spanning war broke out, the other Houses did not listen to him." Missoni shakes her head, totally at a loss. Lylia begins chuckling at Thrassus! Etanah huskily says, "Idiocy, unlike common sense, is very common." Lylia nods at Etanah. Etanah huskily says, "Unfortunately the way things are." Etanah shrugs. Cryheart says, "Aye." Speaking to Thrassus, Lylia says, "I think he appealed mostly to those who dreamed great dreams but had little power to enact them." Thagoria says, "The other Houses were assaulted by those forces, for their refusal, but some defectors factioned off to fight in the West." Cryheart says, "We suffer at the hands of idiocy and evil." Thagoria says, "Especially the Nalfein." Thrassus says, "Of course they did." Thrassus scoffs. Missoni wrinkles her nose. Maags furrows her brow. Etanah huskily says, "I will return momentarily. This conversation interests me." Missoni smiles at Etanah. Etanah curtsies gracefully. Puptilian says, "If there was anything Althedeus and Cross was good at was causing Chaos between nations and within. That entity fed off chaos." Maags says, "Yes." Puptilian says, "And sadly made it harder for all of us to fight against it." Regwen says, "Some of the effects of that fight still linger." Puptilian agrees with Regwen. (Puptilian rubs his eyes.) Regwen rubs Puptilian tenderly. Thagoria says, "It would seem whatever was done in those days has made the Shadows valence more accessible here than it has been historically." Lylia says, "I am convinced that if people were to hear that a world-devouring plague was to be unleashed tomorrow, a significant percentage of them would proclaim it a wonder and fight others to be the first to breathe it in. Contrarians." Regwen says, "And Aralyte is still lost beyond the veil."
Melgorehn's Reach and Rodnay
Thrassus says, "The effects of the Reach likely contributed to that." Speaking to Thagoria, Puptilian says, "We did what we had to for we needed to defeat Althedeus." Lylia nods at Thagoria. Lylia nods at Regwen. Missoni nods in agreement at Lylia. Speaking to Thagoria, Raelee says, "... once the proverbial walls have thinned, they are rarely ever as strong as they started." Speaking to Raelee, Lylia says, "Just so." Speaking softly to Puptilian, Draygnar asks, "What did I miss, boss?" Draygnar nods at Puptilian. Draygnar sits down. Thagoria says, "That mountain is a menace, it was not here fifty years ago." Puptilian raises an eyebrow in Thagoria's direction. Regwen asks, "Oh?" Regwen gives a short little hum of surprise. Thagoria says, "It is temporally unstable." Speaking to Thagoria, Raelee says, "Is the true menace not the mana storm above it? The mountain is just a glorified step-ladder." Missoni glances appraisingly around the area. Puptilian gazes fondly at Regwen. Lylia says, "It is easy to witness that temporal instability in the chamber atop it. The moons wheel through the skies in moments." Thagoria says, "However you disentangle the cause and effect. With the mana storm and the artifacts involved with the mountain." Thagoria says, "In any case, I am keeping watch on it, for the Basilica." Cryheart nods at Thagoria. Missoni nods approvingly. Lylia closes her eyes for a moment. Lylia says, "That is reassuring." Etanah huskily asks, "Has the conversation become private or simply ended?" Etanah furrows her brow. Thrassus says, "Be careful if you decide to poke about on the mountain." Lylia says, "I was more composing my thoughts than taking them private." Cryheart says, "Tis a bit of thoughtful reflection." Lylia chuckles. Thagoria says, "They are working out their internal politics, I do not think it will be much longer before there are investigators." Raelee glances at Thagoria. Raelee furrows her brow. Speaking to Etanah, Maags says, "Neither. we are all jus more worried and thinking." Thrassus says, "If Rodnay decides he doesn't like you, the mountain will be dangerous to be on." Etanah huskily says, "Hmm." Cryheart nods at Thrassus. Puptilian says, "And these investigators....not like the inquisitors of the Empire and a bit...are not as forceful in investigating I hope." Etanah huskily says, "Rodnay is a sweetheart." Thagoria asks, "The half-Ithzir is dormant, or active now?" Etanah huskily says, "If you know him anyway." Thrassus asks, "Who knows?" Speaking to Thagoria, Raelee says, "He has not revealed himself of late." Lylia says, "They are not filled with religious zeal, I can promise you that." Speaking to Raelee, Puptilian says, "Hey I remember the first two inquisitors." Thrassus says, "He can seem dormant but his mind is still active." Raelee says, "Though I would not guarantee that as being dormant." Missoni flashes a quick grin at Lylia. Speaking to Puptilian, Raelee says, "As do I." Thrassus says, "His mentalism can reach as far as this town." Thagoria says, "I am not really familiar with Turamzzyr inquisitors." Puptilian nods at Thagoria. Puptilian says, "Leave that to the Magister to explain."
Vaalor Foreign Policy, Basilican Internal Politics, the Kasendra Accords, and Ambassador Vespasius
Speaking to Thagoria, Lylia says, "You mentioned the Vaalorans earlier; there was a time that they were considering an outpost of some sort near a local village." Maags exclaims, "We do not care for inquistors!" Raelee gives a sidelong glance at Puptilian. Thagoria nods at Lylia. Maags vigorously shakes her head. Puptilian grins at Raelee. Citan deeply says, "Hello's." Speaking to Maags, Puptilian says, "The last one was ok." Speaking to Thagoria, Thrassus says, "Thier efficiency depends on how religious they are, in my opinion." Thagoria says, "I was told something of that, that they demanded this town 'return' the village to them." Draygnar waves to Citan. Speaking huskily to Citan, Etanah asks, "How have you and your family been my friend?" Citan deeply says, "We have beenn well." Speaking to Maags, Puptilian says, "He was. He actually helped us." Lylia says, "Yes. It was a term of art to claim it should be 'returned' as it would have suggested our authority here extended beyond the town's walls, but alas, the local Town Council's horizons were narrower than expected." Thrassus says, "Turamzyyr deternined that the village was Vaaloran land." Speaking to Lylia, Puptilian says, "I remember that giving you lots of headache." Lylia dryly remarks, "It still gives me headaches if I ponder it very long." Speaking curiously to Thagoria, Missoni asks, "Will you be liasing with the inquisitors, when they arrive?" Thagoria says, "How generous of Turamzzyr to recognize that elven land belongs to Elves." Puptilian grins at Lylia. Lylia grins at Thagoria. Thrassus grins at Thagoria. Lylia says, "Indeed, I thought so too." With a wince, Raelee slowly massages her temple. Lylia says, "I am sure the Kasendra Accords are likewise generous." Thagoria scoffs. Maags says, "Like giving permission to Owlies to has all the sweets." Thagoria says, "House Nalfein has no limits to its treachery." Missoni agrees with Lylia. Lylia says, "The important thing is that all the ships at sea are protected and Nielira Harbor is safe, I am sure we all recognize." Thagoria says, "As for the way the Turamzzyrian authorities will be handled, I would not presume to speak on behalf of my superiors." Missoni admits, "They *do* make a good crab cake." Lylia nods in agreement at Missoni. Citan smacks his lips. Lylia nods at Thagoria. Missoni nods understandingly at Thagoria. Speaking to Thagoria, Raelee says, "... perhaps that is something we ought to speak on in more detail." Citan deeply says, "Lightly crisped out side... butter'd garlic sauce." Citan nods at Missoni. Lylia says, "I am sure whomever arrives will have thoughts on that matter." Speaking to Lylia, Puptilian says, "And I will happily watch that from a distance." Lylia chuckles. Etanah huskily asks, "Who would be in on this meeting?" Speaking to Raelee, Thagoria says, "I believe Ambassador Vespasius referred to you as the 'fellow traveler of the Alabaster Spire'. I do not believe there would be any resistance to your involvement." Cryheart asks, "When do we expect these so-called investigators?" Speaking softly to Puptilian, Draygnar says, "I'll be behind you." Speaking huskily to Draygnar, Etanah says, "And I'll be behind You." Speaking softly to Etanah, Draygnar says, "We'll all be behind Regwen." Regwen begins chuckling at Draygnar! Etanah huskily says, "Sounds like a plan." Etanah winks at Regwen. Lylia says, "I would imagine the diplomat from New Ta'Faendryl would do his own talking; I certainly would not presume." Speaking to Regwen, Puptilian says, "Kick him." Citan deeply says, "Well.. let me be at the end.. I did have cabbage earlier." Citan nods. Lylia smiles at Thagoria. Thagoria nods at Lylia. Thagoria says, "That man enjoys talking." Etanah's face turns slightly pale. Regwen says, "I generally stand behind Sir Cryheart." Speaking carefully to Thagoria, Raelee says, "... I appreciate that the Spire has vouched for me so. It is not my desire to interfere with your work, so long as the same is extended to myself." Lylia nods appreciatively. Etanah huskily says, "Wrong, that's just wrong." Speaking to Thagoria, Raelee continues, "And for the moment... I am not particularly motivated to summon my colleagues." Thagoria nods at Raelee. Lylia says, "Speaking of the Spire, are you comfortably quartered at the local guild's holdings? If you should need other accommodations, the Spire is always open to you." The coppery barn owl hoots. Thagoria nods at Lylia. Speaking to a pale-faced coppery barn owl, Lylia says, "Yes, and you too." Lylia pets a pale-faced coppery barn owl, which nuzzles her hand softly. Etanah huskily says, "Seems it would have to be someone most people respect, whether they like them or not." [General] Tebon thinks, "E'enin' folks." Speaking softly to Etanah, Draygnar says, "I'm out." Etanah begins chuckling at Draygnar! Thagoria says, "I think the matter is likely to fall to the authority of Vespasius, knowing him he might take the whole Spire to quarter himself." Speaking to Etanah, Lylia says, "One does not 'like' or 'dislike' someone at a certain degree of authority; they simply are, and it would be akin to disliking a mountain or a sea or some other force of nature." Thagoria says, "I jest. Slightly." Missoni gazes in amusement at Thagoria. Thagoria holds up two fingers and slowly pinches them together until they are almost touching. (Lylia stiffens briefly.) Etanah huskily says, "M'lady would be a good fit, she's even well liked by most I've heard from." Puptilian glances at Lylia. Lylia carefully says, "He would be most welcome to the Spire, of course." Thagoria grins. Speaking huskily to Lylia, Etanah says, "No, I can like or dislike a mountain just as easily." Puptilian grins. Speaking evenly to Etanah, Raelee asks, "Is that so?" Lylia says, "You can, but the mountain is not inclined to care." Lylia chuckles. Raelee schools her face into a neutral expression. Etanah nods at Raelee. Speaking huskily to Raelee, Etanah says, "I'm a minstrel, I travel a little bit." Etanah grins at Raelee. Thagoria says, "Given the politics between the Archchancellors, having it handled on the ground by Vespasius is a likely compromise." Lylia nods at Thagoria. Etanah glances about with a look of concern on her face. Cryheart nods at Thagoria. Speaking huskily to Raelee, Etanah says, "Take back up." Thagoria says, "There are many factors. Not privileging Malevort and Dracovir over one another, for example." Lylia says, "Precisely what I was thinking." Speaking to Etanah, Raelee asks, "On what occasion?" Sir Tebon just arrived. Tebon says, "E'enin' folks." Thagoria says, "It would also appease the Armata, which bristles with the expansion of the Palestra into the outlands." Cryheart says, "Hail brother Tebon." Speaking to Etanah, Raelee says, "If it should materialize." Speaking to Cryheart, Tebon says, "Hail, Sir Cryheart." Thrassus nods at Thagoria. Tebon nods curtly to Thagoria. Raelee accepts Etanah's puce rowan blossom. Raelee gazes at a frill-crowned puce rowan blossom intently, taking full advantage of the available light. Speaking to Etanah, Raelee asks, "What is this for?" Speaking to Thagoria, Tebon says, "Greetin's 'gain, Thagoria." Thagoria says, "Vespasius is not the Armata, but would be the civilian authority over them. If there were legions occupying the provinces." Speaking to Lylia, Maags says, "Thank yous." Etanah ponders. Speaking to Lylia, Puptilian says, "Hopefully not bad enough to cause trouble here." Speaking huskily to Raelee, Etanah says, "It's basically a bribe." Etanah grins impishly at Raelee. Raelee glances skeptically at Etanah. Lylia murmurs, "I would not imagine so." Speaking huskily to Raelee, Etanah says, "You're always so serious, I thought it might lighten your mood a bit." Missoni bites her lip. Etanah winks at Raelee. Tebon nods curtly to Raelee. Speaking simply to Etanah, Raelee states, "My mood does not lighten." Etanah snaps her fingers. Etanah sighs. Thagoria says, "Vespasius is an imperious and difficult man. But I doubt you would have to deal with him much in person." Speaking huskily to Raelee, Etanah says, "When dealing with something important a lighter outlook on life can be most helpful. So, I tried." Lylia asks, "Do we know when he -- or another in his stead -- might arrive?" Lylia archly asks, "So I may prepare the Spire for occupation?" Lylia grins. Maags grins at Lylia. Missoni gazes in amusement at Lylia. Thagoria says, "Within a week, perhaps, they are still working out scopes of authority." Maags says, "Everybodies wants to be the boss." Speaking huskily to Raelee, Etanah says, "It was for you no matter your response." Speaking to Etanah, Raelee says, "Very well, then." Thagoria says, "There are things in this region they do not want pried into excessively for one reason or another." Lylia says, "Thank you." Cryheart says, "By the time they determine what and who, we could be in a war." Speaking huskily to Raelee, Etanah says, "You never know, it may work on you slowly." Etanah smiles at Raelee. Maags says, "The politicians." Thrassus raises an eyebrow in Thagoria's direction. Speaking to Etanah, Raelee says, "Improbable." Tebon says, "It's our region, I woul' assume we shoul' be able ta pry." Missoni gazes with interest at Thagoria. Raelee takes a moment to observe Thagoria. Thrassus says, "I would think they'd want to dig as much as possible into the subject." Cryheart says, "Aye." Citan deeply says, "Well.. let's hope another war does not happen.... We always seem to get the sharp in the stick." Speaking to Thagoria, Raelee suggests, "Elaborate on that?" Puptilian says, "Well this town does have a habit of not liking outsiders coming in and snooping around." Speaking huskily to Raelee, Etanah says, "But see, you did not say impossible. . .so there's still a chance." Etanah grins impishly at Raelee. Tebon says, "We are tha ones that are bein' assailed, I feel a lil bit o' pryin' is warranted." Cryheart says, "We should remember the Accords were agreed upon by all to my knowledge." Thagoria says, "There are things Faendryl have done in this region that they would not wish to subvert without necessity." Speaking to Cryheart, Lylia says, "Sir, they certainly were not." Raelee surreptitiously glances at Lylia. Regwen ponders. Puptilian glances at Regwen. Missoni says, "The Accords were signed by three houses. Vaalor, Illistim, and Nalfein." Lylia coolly says, "No one spoke to us about them at all. We were merely told that our waters would be patrolled, including off the shore of Behizet, presumably." Thrassus says, "Yes, some groups were mysteriously left out of that little planning session." Cryheart says, "Aye." Thrassus smirks. Thrassus says, "I do not think the Vaalor signed anything." Thrassus ponders. Missoni says, "They may not have. I think they were only implicated by way of their agreement with the Illistim." Thrassus says, "I'd have to go back and re-read the report." Lylia says, "Because I am not Nalfein, I can count higher than three without using my fingers." Missoni nods at Thrassus. Thagoria says, "Those treaties with House Nalfein are just another attempt at manipulating us into conflict." Lylia says, "They did not. Whether they are implicitly a part of it through their shackles with Ta'Illistim is a question I could not answer for them." Lylia folds her hands. Etanah huskily says, "Thank you. We may share a purpose." Cryheart nods at Thagoria. Cryheart says, "Still some distrust I perceive." Thagoria says, "I would not presume to speak for the higher authorities of the Basilica." Regwen says, "Always more conflict." Thrassus says, "Some things never change." Thagoria says, "But those 'accords' made a lot of important people very mad." Etanah agrees with Thrassus. Lylia agrees, "Indeed, I shall not presume." Lylia inclines her head. Speaking huskily to Thagoria, Etanah asks, "How so?" Speaking to Thagoria, Puptilian says, "A sign of a good treaty when both sides are not happy." Thagoria says, "We were not involved in those treaties at all." Speaking to Etanah, Lylia asks, "If I were to arrogate authority to myself to decide what you should have for dinner, would you appreciate it? Even if it were for your protection?" Lylia raises an eyebrow. Speaking huskily to Lylia, Etanah says, "Not only would I not appreciate it, I would pay it no mind to boot." Etanah chuckles. Speaking to Etanah, Puptilian says, "Ahh but when the law is not on your side, that pay it no mind because harder when its forced." Etanah shrugs. Lylia says, "And this is the way wars start. By someone 'paying no mind' to someone else who has many ships and armies." Tebon ponders. Puptilian agrees with Lylia. Etanah huskily says, "It isn't her business what I eat or when, so it would Have to be forced for me to swallow it. If you get what I mean." Lylia says, "But of course, we have differing ideas of diplomacy, I see. And for what it is worth, I do like spinache." Lylia smiles. Thagoria says, "Building infrastructure allowing military mobilization on our borders. Harassing the ships on our coasts without our permission." Lylia says, "Ah, but what a lovely party it was, celebrating the signing in the harbor." Thagoria says, "It is not for me to speak on as a voice of the Basilica." Cryheart nods at Thagoria. Missoni lets out a long, contemplative breath. Cryheart says, "Seems there is some old history nae completely resolved." Missoni holds up two fingers and slowly pinches them together until they are almost touching. Lylia says, "Our history is the world's history. And it is never entirely resolved." Speaking to Cryheart, Puptilian says, "When ever there is history between two people there is never completely resolved." Cryheart says, "Amen." Lylia says, "Remarkably, some people can hold an opinion and not speak it aloud." Cryheart nods at Puptilian. Thagoria says, "Time is different for us. History for humans is recollection of recent events for us." Puptilian grins. Cryheart nods. Thrassus grins at Thagoria. Lylia grins at Puptilian. Raelee nods slowly at Thagoria. Puptilian chuckles. Missoni says, "Sometimes plenty is said in what is left unsaid." Lylia nods at Missoni. Cryheart nods at Missoni.
The Investigation, Vespasius, and Faendryl Legions
Tebon asks, "Welp, wit apologies, I came in late ta this discussion, admittedly, but from wat I gathered.....tha plan is ta "stand by an' watch"?" Tebon peers quizzically at Thagoria. Speaking huskily to Lylia, Etanah says, "Shame on them then. When it comes to the welfare of the commonweath everyone Should have an opinion, be it made into law or not. Without hearing the opinions of others you can never come to peace with your own." Speaking to Tebon, Thagoria says, "The Basilica will be sending investigators soon." Speaking huskily to Tebon, Etanah says, "Ahh yes, the norm." Etanah winks at Tebon and flashes a sly grin. Tebon says, "So in tha mean time.....tha residents here, continue ta suffer, under persistent attacks." Etanah grumbles. Lylia says, "This is not New Ta'Faendryl's town to defend." Thrassus says, "I would hazard to say some enjoy the exercise." Thrassus shrugs. Etanah begins chuckling at Thrassus! Tebon says, "I"m simply statin' from a simple giantkins opinion....." Raelee says, "And with some threats, the investigation is the beginning of defense. One cannot formulate an adequate plan if the threat is not understood." Lylia says, "That they are sending an investigatory party speaks volumes about the nature of the threat, though." Lylia bites her lip. Missoni agrees with Lylia. Cryheart nods at Lylia. Thagoria says, "But, yes. I wanted to warn you that it is likely to fall to Vespasius. Who is the most undiplomatic of diplomats." Tebon says, "If there is an anamoly of this magnitutde goin' on, it shoul' be come a priority, because innocents suffer under a lack o' knowledge." Speaking to Lylia, Puptilian says, "As long as this does not turn into another inquisitor or blameless event I am ok with people helping." Thagoria says, "But the investigators themselves would be from the Clerisy." Thagoria says, "Possibly the Palestra. Depending." Missoni smiles at Thagoria. Thagoria says, "So I would not overly concern yourself with rhetoric from Vespasius." Lylia nods slowly at Thagoria. Missoni lightly says, "We are fortunate to have such a strong hand in Vespasius." Lylia diplomatically says, "He is certainly a man who does not stint on sharing his opinions." Thrassus says, "I'll still stockpile a suitable amount of tkaro just in case, anyway." Thrassus snickers. Thagoria says, "There is a dark joke we all tell in the city. That what the humans call the 'Third Elven War' ended without a treaty, because Vespasius would have made it more damaging than the war." Thrassus nods slowly. Etanah flashes a wide grin. Thagoria says, "That gives you a sense of the man." Lylia begins chuckling at Thagoria! Regwen glances at Thagoria. Lylia says, "Oh, I have met him, albeit briefly." Tebon says, "Sir Cryheart, A delayed response ta investigate this, ta determine wat is happenin', is gonna cost lives, ye's know it as well as I." Cryheart nods at Tebon. Missoni says, "He is quite indomitable." Thagoria says, "I have heard him be compared to Retassal. The Vaalor chamberlain." Cryheart says, "But hopefully it begins with the necessity it needs." Cryheart nods at Tebon. Thrassus says, "An apt comparison." Missoni amusedly says, "Imagine the two of them at the same table." Lylia says, "I met him as well." Thagoria says, "If we had an embassy in Ta'Vaalor, Vespasius would likely be the ambassador." Thagoria says, "Not least of which because of Retassal." Cryheart nods at Thagoria. Lylia murmurs, "Oh, I can only imagine." Missoni adopts an agreeable expression. Thagoria says, "Tredohal is the right man for Ta'Illistim. But Retassal would eat him alive." Lylia nods in agreement. Lylia says, "He has a gentle soul." Thagoria gazes up into the sky. Lylia says, "I shall be pleased to welcome a delegation from the City." Thagoria says, "Still no rain." Tebon says, "Wat kin we do, ta put a lil bit o' urgency in tha investigation? This is my home, these are my people, an' I woul' do wate'er I kin ta get more infermation." Thrassus nods at Thagoria. Speaking to Thagoria, Raelee asks, "Would you prefer rain?" Thagoria says, "I was told there would be lots of rain." Puptilian says, "Could enough probably be snow anyway." Cryheart says, "It comes and goes." Puptilian says, "Cold." Regwen agrees with Puptilian. Raelee removes a sky blue crystal globe charm from in her leather neck pouch. Missoni glances appraisingly at Raelee. Raelee gazes up into the sky. Raelee put a sky blue crystal globe charm in her leather neck pouch. Lylia notes, "I know some of you are not as familiar with New Ta'Faendryl and its governance, beyond knowing of the Patriarch, honor and glory to him. I think perhaps before the investigative party arrives, I might talk about that a bit, if anyone would be interested." Raelee quietly says, "... perhaps best not force the matter." Cryheart nods at Lylia. Thagoria says, "It is remarkable that the Basilica is moving at all." Speaking to Tebon, Thrassus asks, "You realize they are moving extraordinarily quickly for elven bureaucracy?" Thagoria says, "Ah. Yes." Lylia says, "And seeing as Guildmaster Thagoria no doubt has other matters to attend to." Puptilian nods at Lylia. Lylia nods in agreement at Thagoria. Speaking to Lylia, Missoni says, "Such a discussion would be lovely, I think." Speaking to Thrassus, Tebon says, "The people here, overly, do nae 'ave tha life spans o' elves." Thagoria says, "It did not occur to me that some of you would not be familiar with how our government works." Tebon says, "Urgency is needed." Cryheart says, "Indeed, I hae been trying to absorb the underlying theme." Speaking to Thagoria, Puptilian says, "Many do not, including myself but we have friends that can help explain it to us." Cryheart nods at Thagoria. Lylia says, "As for the weather, the rains usually roll in from the bay late at night. Bay effect snows, too." Thagoria says, "If there were a large incursion, there would be a rapid response from them." Thagoria says, "It very nearly came to that in 5116. Or so I am told." Lylia nods slowly. Puptilian ponders. Puptilian says, "I thought we handled that pretty decently." Thrassus says, "So they are getting ahead of that this time around." Cryheart says, "Aye, at the least we manage to survive." Puptilian says, "Was a hard fight for sure." Maags says, "'parentlies by a thread." Thagoria says, "Yes. It was halted before it reached the threshold of our intervention." Speaking to Maags, Puptilian says, "That was when we destroy that pyramid." Maags nods slowly at Puptilian. Thagoria says, "Chancellor Virulia had legions banded, nominally as a training exercise." Thagoria says, "But the Ithzir did not establish an anchor hold." Lylia muses, "They did leave the region changed, though. Rodnay remains." Thagoria nods. Cryheart nods at Lylia. Speaking to Lylia, Raelee says, "... and the pyramid." Tebon folds his arms over his chest. Lylia nods at Raelee. Thagoria says, "The investigation is likely to focus on the immediate threat, factors tied into it, and whatever we might ascertain about the lost Palestra." Lylia nods at Thagoria. Raelee says, "Say ::pupt One hopes the interior is... reasonably well sealed." Cryheart nods at Thagoria. Lylia says, "Of course. Anything we can do to help." Thrassus nods at Thagoria. Speaking to Thagoria, Puptilian says, "She helped save this town. If there is ever a chance to save her...I know many here will sign up for it." Cryheart agrees with Puptilian. Thagoria says, "Other matters such as the half-Ithzir, the Eye of Ta'Ashrim, some other matters would be much less of a focus." Thagoria says, "Unless it is found that there are important connections." Lylia flashes a quick grin. Missoni nods thoughtfully. (Puptilian rubs his eyes.) Lylia says, "Some would no doubt say, 'it is all Grishom Stone! Stone is to blame!' But I am not among them." Speaking to Lylia, Puptilian says, "Oh I think there is a connection. Just not sure how much of one." Thagoria says, "Recovering that artifact would require a much greater commitment of force." Speaking to Thagoria, Thrassus says, "More than most realize." Lylia firmly says, "It would. I have watched Stone for quite a few years. He is more than he was when I met him. By a great deal." Thagoria nods at Thrassus. Missoni looks thoughtful for a moment, then shrugs. Lylia asks, "Ah, or were you referring to the pyramid?" Thagoria says, "I was speaking of the Emerald Sun. Or whatever you wish to call it." Lylia says, "Which would also take a great deal to recover. Although someone once mentioned sending golems, as they do not need to breathe..." Thagoria says, "In the east they call it the Eye of Ta'Ashrim." Puptilian says, "Gale stone, the eye...." Puptilian shrugs. Raelee echoes, "Gale Stone." Raelee nods. Thrassus says, "The Eye of Khar'ta or the like for Krolvin." Thagoria says, "The Basilica consider it our property, which the Illistim implicitly concede by naming it that way." Thagoria says, "Not that it has stopped them from trying to claim it for themselves." Lylia nods once. Missoni murmurs, "It does belong with us." Lylia says, "They belie themselves with that name. It is clear." Thagoria says, "As I am sure you have noticed, what belongs to the Faendryl is so often treated as communal property." Speaking to Thagoria, Puptilian says, "Just about every people have a claim to that rock." Lylia murmurs, "Why, I had not noticed..." Thagoria says, "Their claims are surely more recent than 5,000 years ago." Speaking to Thagoria, Puptilian says, "Not sure sure on the Krolvin or the dwarves." Puptilian says, "Humans most likely." Puptilian shrugs. Cryheart says, "Such temptation, perhaps it would be better if it were destroyed." Cryheart grins at Maags. Speaking to Cryheart, Puptilian says, "I would like to think so." Lylia says, "At any rate, the one who holds it now is unlikely to hand it over to anyone. It is a lurid red now, and he styles himself the Blood God." Thagoria nods at Lylia. Maags asks, "And gives them nothing to fight over?" Speaking to Lylia, Puptilian says, "I really do believe that he changed the stone for ever and may have to agree with Cryheart. It needs to be destroyed." Thagoria says, "He has some obsession with the Ithzir. Which is undoubtedly why he was drawn to it in the first place." Lylia pointedly says, "We do not destroy everything that could be dangerous, especially if there are significant threats from beyond." Lylia stares intently at a glowing blue-white pylon on a huge dark wagon and creases her brow in deep thought. Raelee says, "And destroying it may be... quite a research project in itself." Speaking to Lylia, Thagoria says, "See? Communal property." Cryheart nods at Raelee. Speaking to Lylia, Puptilian says, "But I also see what it does in wrong hands and lets be honest, things like this almost always fall into the wrong hands." Speaking to Puptilian, Raelee asks, "Which pair of hands is the correct one?" Missoni says, "Then every sword ought to be destroyed. They are also often in the wrong hands." Lylia grins at Thagoria. Maags looks thoughtfully at Missoni. Speaking to Raelee, Puptilian says, "Exactly my point. None." Lylia says, "And this pylon here, off with its head." Cryheart grins at Tebon. Missoni reaches out and pats a glowing blue-white pylon on a huge dark wagon. Speaking to Missoni, Puptilian says, "If I could live in a world with no war, no weapons I love it. Sadly that is never to happen." Thagoria says, "We will take it back eventually. It belongs in our archives with other powerful relics." Lylia nods once. Tebon says, "Mayhap....tha current possessor o' tha pyramid needs ta be evicted, an' new owners take possession." Speaking neutrally to Lylia, Raelee says, "I am certain the Hall would come collect the pylons if so requested." Thrassus says, "I'd rather keep the pylon, it's fun when it gets let loose." Missoni adopts an agreeable expression. Lylia says, "But the Eye is not our primary concern at the moment, so I shall not quarrel with anyone about it." Lylia flashes a quick grin at Raelee. Lylia adds, "...Yet." Lylia snickers. Puptilian grins at Lylia. Cryheart says, "Always a yet." Cryheart grins at Lylia. Lylia chuckles. Lylia nods at Cryheart. Thagoria says, "I do not wish to keep everyone up all night. But I will answer whatever I can." Puptilian grins slowly. Thrassus grins at Thagoria. Lylia admits, "Most of my questions would be about home, and I shall not beleaguer you with them." Missoni agrees, "The news and the discussion have been very welcome." Thrassus asks, "If the investigation uncovers something signifigant, would the Basilica consider establishing a more lasting presence in the region?" Thrassus cocks his head at Thagoria. Speaking jokingly to Lylia, Puptilian says, "When you get kicked out there is a good couch in Moonshine you can use." Cryheart says, "I hae tried to write down what all hae stated, therefor my Order and read to understand the problem we face." Puptilian grins mischievously. Cryheart nods at Thagoria. Lylia begins chuckling at Puptilian! Thagoria says, "Vespasius would build a palace over this town if it were up to him." Thrassus laughs! Thagoria says, "But I do not know what the Basilica intends." Speaking to Puptilian, Lylia says, "I might be relegated to Brigatta alone if he occupies our Spire." Thrassus nods understandingly. Cryheart says, "I am certain he would find us not so obliging." Tebon says, "Feh, nae vera likely." Cryheart grins. Thagoria says, "We have been slowly colonizing Darkstone Bay for two centuries." Maags asks, "And he is a diplomat?" Regwen nods understandingly at Lylia. Maags ponders. Thrassus snickers at Thagoria. Thagoria says, "The difficulty is the words do not translate well into your language." Speaking to Maags, Lylia says, "He has a rather...firm hand as a diplomat." Thagoria says, "He has the standing to be an ambassador to the other Houses." Lylia says, "I am more the 'velvet glove' sort, myself." Thagoria says, "But he is something more like what the Northern Sentinel is to the Turamzzyrian Empire." Speaking to Lylia, Puptilian asks, "So your version of Thadston?" Speaking to Lylia, Maags exclaims, "Yes that was mentioned earlier but I spose I underestimated how firm!" Speaking to Puptilian, Lylia says, "Yes, exactly." Missoni remarks, "I have never seen him throw anything." Lylia says, "Akin to Thadston's role as Northern Sentinel." Cryheart says, "I can understand that." Cryheart nods at Thagoria. Maags says, "Ahhh well then." Speaking to Thagoria, Raelee says, "There is some merit to simply speaking it in your native tongue if Common does not provide the words required." Speaking to Lylia, Puptilian asks, "Oh this could be very fun. Do I get to have that fun again?" Speaking to Missoni, Lylia says, "True...although perhaps I shall keep the Spire's windows open." Thagoria says, "The analogy is not exact. The legions would be reporting to him as the civilian authority." Thagoria says, "He is what we would call more literally a High Legate." Maags says, "Ahh." Lylia agrees, "Not exact parallels, but there are some, and analogies help to understand something of the order of things." Thagoria says, "But if he were assigned to an embassy, he would be the Ambassador." Cryheart nods at Thagoria. Lylia points out, "We do not have an embassy here. The Turamzzyrian Empire was to have one. They built a military outpost instead after an assassination." Thagoria nods. Thagoria says, "Hendor is viewed fairly differently from Tamzyrr by the Basilica for historical reasons." Lylia admits, "It is full of passionate defenders and true lovers of the town, but it is also rather small. I do not know that we would ever expect to see a Faendryl embassy locally." Thagoria nods at Lylia. Lylia nods at Thagoria. Thagoria says, "We would only have an embassy in one of the other Houses." Missoni adopts an agreeable expression. Thrassus says, "At best it would be something like an minor research outpost or the like." Thagoria says, "Smaller powers would have lesser missions. Legations." Cryheart says, "That is nae bad idea to hae representatives." Thrassus nods at Thagoria. Tebon says, "Feh, politics." Maags agrees with Tebon. Amathea just arrived. Cryheart grins at Tebon. Lylia grins at Tebon. Amathea cocks her head. Speaking to Tebon, Lylia says, "Oh, this is my bread and butter." Tebon says, "I jus' want ta see my home an' it's people, protected." Lylia raises her voice in merry laughter. Amathea gazes up into the sky.
Vaalor Barbs, Pylasar and Pylons, the Talon of Toullaire, and Kezmon Isle
Thagoria says, "I know that House Vaalor [[|recognized this town had authority over the southern swathe of the river out to the eastern forest." Speaking to Lylia, Maags exclaims, "No wonder yous has headaches!" Speaking to Thagoria, Thrassus says, "Yes, but the town authorities at the time did not move to take advantage of that and stayed within the walls." Lylia says, "Oh, never believe I do not love it. I enjoy the misery, in this case." Thrassus shakes his head. Lylia nods at Thagoria. Thagoria nods at Thrassus. Thrassus says, "A wasted opportunity, in my opinion." Thrassus shrugs. Lylia says, "Every mayor, past and present, agreed otherwise, but the town Council rarely listens." Thrassus says, "Ah well." Thagoria says, "It turns out the Vaalor will retreat from a whole theatre over a single airship." Speaking to Lylia, Puptilian says, "I tried, you tried, yeah we all did." Puptilian shrugs at Lylia. Thagoria says, "So perhaps it is not much of a loss." Thrassus grins at Thagoria. Missoni grins wryly. Lylia grins at Thagoria. Amathea raises an eyebrow. Speaking to Thagoria, Lylia asks, "Do you have Spicers in your family, or are you just inclined to such beautifully peppery phrases?" Thagoria says, "It is in the blood." Lylia chuckles. Thagoria says, "We were disappointed in them. But I jest. Mostly." Lylia nods. Lylia says, "It became rather complicated." Maags says, "Me too." Missoni says, "It was all a terrible mess." Missoni passes a hand over her richly toned, olive brown face. Lylia nods in agreement at Missoni. Thagoria reaches out and touches a glowing blue-white pylon on a huge dark wagon. Missoni flashes a quick grin at Thagoria. Speaking to Thagoria, Lylia asks, "Has there been any further discussion within the guild about the nature of sacrifice and its uses?" Thagoria says, "It was a decision made with eyes for the future." Lylia confesses, "I know that is a bit more specialized than the discussion of the town as a whole, but...when given a guildmaster, one must ask the occasional guild-related question." Cryheart asks, "Sacrifices?" Lylia nods at Thagoria. Speaking to Thagoria, Raelee asks, "Have you thoughts on the pylon?" Raelee glances at a glowing blue-white pylon on a huge dark wagon. Thagoria says, "It is an interesting device, with a strange name." Speaking to Cryheart, Lylia says, "Of the sorcerous sort." Cryheart nods at Lylia. Thrassus says, "It simply converts stored mana into a focused blast of energy." Perigourd strides in with fluid grace, each footstep leaving behind a faintly glowing, forest green imprint of a doe's cloven hoof on the ground behind him. Thrassus says, "It's extraordinarily effective." Speaking to Thagoria, Raelee says, "Grand Magister Pylasar's design, initially." Maags asks, "I seem to remember feeding mana to that?" Thagoria says, "Adapting them to plinite was a clever innovation. Most destructive, enough to destroy Ithzir pyramids." Thrassus nods at Thagoria. Amathea glances at Thagoria. Speaking to Maags, Lylia says, "Yes! They need to be infused properly, and they do remarkable damage." Lylia adds, "And enemy vessels in the bay." Missoni agrees, "And mountains." Thagoria says, "The Emperor would do well to not make many of them." Thrassus says, "And titanic flying abominations in the sky." Maags nods at Lylia. Perigourd casually glances at Missoni. Raelee nods slowly at Perigourd. Speaking to Maags, Regwen says, "Used them against golems long ago." Speaking to Thagoria, Lylia says, "Say, Behizet could use a few...you know. In case of 'pirates.'." Maags says, "Right that was it." Thagoria nods at Lylia. Puptilian nods at Regwen. Maags exclaims, "I tries to forget the scary things!" Maags flails her arms about. Cryheart rubs Maags tenderly. Lylia grins at Maags. Regwen nods understandingly at Maags. Lylia says, "Only trouble with that is that sometimes the scary things do not forget about us." Maags agrees with Lylia. Cryheart says, "Aye." Speaking to Lylia, Maags says, "That is a lesson I should remember." Maags says, "I do, sort of." Speaking to Lylia, Regwen says, "More often than any of us like." Regwen nods in agreement at Lylia. Speaking to Lylia, Puptilian says, "I like them to remember. Maybe next time they hesitate a little." Maags says, "And I fear I am being reminded now." Maags says, "Well." Speaking to Puptilian, Regwen says, "They should remember the resistance we gave." Regwen nods at Puptilian. Maags exclaims, "I also remember we usuallies win!" Speaking to Maags, Raelee says, "Define 'winning' in this context." Maags exclaims, "So beware those who choose to cross us!" Speaking to Raelee, Puptilian says, "The town stands, the people still live." Speaking to Raelee, Maags says, "Well most of us are still here." Thagoria asks, "Why is this barrel purple?" Lylia says, "Pylasar." Thrassus says, "Pylasar again." Speaking to Thagoria, Puptilian says, "A silly wizard." Lylia chuckles. Thrassus nods at Thagoria. Cryheart says, "Due to the purple wizard." Speaking to Thagoria, Regwen says, "Pylasar." Cryheart grins at Thagoria. Maags beams! Thagoria asks, "The pylon man?" Maags exclaims, "We miss him!" Thrassus nods at Thagoria. Lylia says, "It is a favorite color of his." Puptilian nods at Thagoria. Regwen nods in agreement at Thagoria. Speaking to Thagoria, Puptilian says, "He has his....hobbies." Maags says, "Crumbs keeps looking for him." Speaking to Thagoria, Raelee says, "As accomplished as the former Grand Magister was, he is an absurd man." Puptilian chuckles. Thagoria nods. Speaking to Raelee, Puptilian says, "But he liked you." Maags exclaims, "And hence why we loves him!" Thagoria says, "I was told to not pry too deeply into matters involving this Pylasar." Thrassus says, "It is a bit of a rabbit hole, yes." Thagoria says, "But he had works of Aralyte that the investigators will probably want to see." Thrassus nods at Thagoria. Lylia nods at Thagoria. Speaking to Thagoria, Maags says, "Sounds like yous has enough to worries of at the moment anyhow." Speaking to Puptilian, Raelee says, "... he caused my suspension from the Hall back then." Cryheart nods at Raelee. Puptilian frowns. Puptilian nods at Raelee. Puptilian says, "Doesn't mean he didn't like you." Maags frowns at Raelee. Lylia says, "Complicated man." Cryheart says, "Indeed." Maags nods at Lylia. Cryheart says, "Somewhat eccentric." Maags says, "Somewhat." Speaking to Thagoria, Puptilian says, "That guy was a big reason why we stand here in town. I am sure your people's investigations will see his name come up a lot." Cryheart grins. Speaking to Cryheart, Puptilian says, "A lot." Thagoria nods at Puptilian. Thagoria says, "He is a known figure to us." Cryheart says, "Aye, was being facetious." Cryheart says, "Please excuse me, but I must rest." Cryheart says, "A pleasure meeting ye." Cryheart nods at Thagoria. Puptilian says, "Good night Sir Knight." Speaking to Thagoria, Raelee asks, "... have you ever tracked him?" Speaking to Cryheart, Maags exclaims, "Gnight sir knight!" Cryheart renders a sharp hand salute. Cryheart says, "Rest well all." Thagoria says, "I have never met him." Tebon says, "Honor, m'friend." Cryheart says, "Thank ye." Cryheart says, "And ye." Thagoria says, "I am not certain what attention may have been paid to him in the past." Speaking to Thagoria, Puptilian says, "One with a large headache trying to understand him." Maags says, "He was rather hard to ignore." Tebon says, "I think I shall head ta tha house fer a short bit meself." Tebon says, "Honor, all." Thrassus says, "His life was rather temporally inconsistent." Thrassus says, "At least to outside observers." Thagoria says, "My loose understanding is he was affected by a relic from the Wizardwaste." Missoni curiously asks, "Which relic?" Thagoria says, "The Crescent of Toullaire." Missoni nods understandingly. Regwen raises an eyebrow in Thagoria's direction. Speaking carefully to Thagoria, Raelee says, "... yes." Thagoria says, "It was before my time, but apparently not before his time." Missoni asks, "Forgive the bluntness of the question, but is he alive?" Thagoria says, "I would have asked you all that question." Speaking to Thagoria, Raelee says, "'Before' is likely not the most apt word to use regarding him. It is all quite... non-linear." Regwen raises an eyebrow in Thagoria's direction. Puptilian says, "A few of us guess that he doesn't live in the same time we live." Thagoria nods. Lylia says, "The Basilica knows a great deal, but not everything." Lylia says, "...yet." Lylia flashes a quick grin. Amathea quietly says, "Fascinating." Thrassus says, "Last I am aware he slipped back to the past and disappeared along with Kezmon Isle or something of that nature." Regwen says, "He was always... out of time... so we thought." Thagoria says, "And yet I am not the whole Basilica." Puptilian nods. Speaking to Regwen, Puptilian says, "Kind of opposite to how we live in time." Lylia vaguely says, "They may know something more, but I do not." Regwen nods in agreement at Puptilian. Lylia looks thoughtful for a moment, then shrugs. Thagoria says, "There was unnatural storming around the loss of Kezmon Isle. Who knows how that could have interfered with his magic." Thrassus nods at Thagoria. Missoni nods thoughtfully. Thagoria says, "We were not crestfallen with Duke Nyrmont going down with his ship." Missoni grins wryly.
Small Talk, Talador, and Verdant Fruit
Thagoria says, "I do not mean to keep you all up. I am just taking in the sights and fresh air." Speaking to Thagoria, Raelee says, "... the night is yet young." Missoni says, "It has been a pleasant discussion." Speaking to Thagoria, Puptilian says, "Oh this town is very welcoming to guest. It was a pleasure to meet you. My name is Puptilian by the way." Thagoria nods at Puptilian. Thagoria says, "I am Thagoria Vespiria Faendryl." Lylia says, "I have enjoyed it tremendously." Lylia smiles. Thagoria says, "Liaison of the Basilica to the sorcerer guilds." Puptilian says, "I am a simple humble ranger." Thagoria says, "I suppose you do not get many Basilican authorities in these parts." Maags grins at Thagoria. Lylia agrees, "Not many, it is true." Thrassus says, "Not nearly enough, no." Maags shakes her head. Perigourd chuckles. Missoni exclaims, "Sadly, we do not!" Lylia nods at Missoni. Perigourd nods knowingly at Missoni. Speaking to Thagoria, Maags exclaims, "In fact yous are the first I has ever met!" Speaking to Thagoria, Regwen says, "I am Regwen Maritan the bard." Amathea quietly says, "Usually, when something appears from a portal in the sky it isn't friendly." Thagoria says, "Harrower Ersix was here, ten years ago, though he is part of the Clerisy." Thagoria says, "Well. I suppose others come here sometimes." Maags shrugs. Thrassus says, "Not in any official capacity." Perigourd says, "I expect things of interest cross through the port here enough to draw interest at times." Thrassus says, "At least not often." Speaking to Perigourd, Missoni muses, "I cannot help but notice all the green-sheened fruit making its way around. It seems to have become quite popular." Thagoria says, "I know some of them, including myself, have come to those symposia at the Alabaster Spire." Amathea quietly exclaims, "Elementals came for the fruit last night!" Thrassus nods at Missoni. Missoni nods appreciatively at Thagoria. Thagoria says, "Archchancellor Ursuline went to the one in Ta'Illistim." Speaking to Missoni, Thrassus says, "There seems to be no end to the supply of them." Lylia acknowledges, "Oh, I might have been to a few of those, too." Lylia chuckles. Missoni flashes a quick grin at Lylia. Speaking to Missoni, Maags exclaims, "I noticed that too and am quite bothered by it !" Speaking to Thrassus, Missoni asks, "Have you tried it?" Maags flails her arms about. Speaking to Missoni, Thrassus says, "And they've all been given away on top of that." Speaking to Missoni, Thrassus says, "No, I am still observing." Missoni agrees with Thrassus. Maags says, "Why would you eat a green blueberry." Perigourd says, "The same reason you'd try any unknown fruit, I suppose." Perigourd chuckles. Speaking to Thrassus, Missoni whispers aloud, "Perigourd tried it and was quite affected." Thrassus nods at Missoni. Thrassus says, "I saw." Lylia says, "I have found it nothing short of delicious." Amathea nods at Lylia. Lylia says, "Xorus and I sampled a few pieces." Missoni looks thoughtfully at Lylia. Speaking to Lylia, Perigourd says, "The afteraffects are somewhat odd." Maags raises an eyebrow in Lylia's direction. Speaking to Maags, Thrassus says, "The fruit seem to have a narcotic effect on people." Speaking to Lylia, Missoni asks, "Did you hear colors and such, too?" Speaking to Perigourd, Lylia says, "I felt decidedly strange..." Thagoria raises an eyebrow. Speaking to Thrassus, Maags says, "Ohhh so one eats it for effect not taste then." Speaking to Perigourd, Regwen asks, "How so?" Amathea quietly says, "It's been days...and I think I'm still hearing things sometimes." Maags says, "I eat for the deliciousness." Raelee says, "Far more alchemical analysis is required before it should be ingested." Speaking to Regwen, Perigourd says, "It seems to affect how you perceive the wolrd around you." Speaking to Thagoria, Thrassus says, "The green-sheen fruit that half the townsfolk have been devouring by the cartloads of late." Lylia says, "But that is not all that different from how coffee can affect me. My pulse races, I feel sharper and clearer." Thagoria says, "I think I will not partake of this fruit." Maags agrees with Thagoria. Thrassus nods at Thagoria. Regwen nods in agreement at Thagoria. Speaking amusedly to Thagoria, Missoni says, "Likewise." Speaking to Raelee, Perigourd says, "It tastes a bit like lurk bite does." Amathea nods at Lylia. Lylia chuckles. Amathea quietly says, "Its like...brain...coffee...." Lylia says, "I found it quite tasty." Maags exclaims, "Hopes it does not make its way into our house pantry!" Amathea quietly says, "I feel clear." Lylia nods at Amathea. Speaking to Perigourd, Missoni says, "That is not a strong endorsement." Speaking to Missoni, Perigourd says, "The initial flavor is fine." Thagoria says, "With the Agrestis there is quality control. We do not have to question it." Perigourd chuckles. Lylia says, "It induced a little pleasant euphoria." Thrassus says, "The other day I noticed none of the fruit have ever started decomposing." Lylia gazes with interest at Thrassus. Missoni blinks at Thrassus. Amathea glances at Thrassus. Lylia says, "Interesting. My pieces have all been in a rhimar case." Thrassus says, "They've sat outside on that stand for days and not a bit of rot set in." Speaking carefully to Thrassus, Missoni asks, "You do not think it is just because of the cold?" Thrassus says, "Could be, or it could be whatever is giving them that sheen." Missoni nods slowly. Amathea quietly asks, "Wasn't the soil from somewhere special?" Amathea rubs her chin thoughtfully. Puptilian says, "Talador." Speaking to Puptilian, Regwen asks, "He husband had those dirt samples in jars, no?" Puptilian says, "Or so i was told." Puptilian nods at Regwen. Amathea quietly says, "Ahhhh, right." Perigourd says, "Fynric collected samples from elsewhere as well." Raelee says, "Untained samples from Talador prior to the Bleak, however... I do not believe that is what this fruit was grown in." Thrassus asks, "Has anyone mentioned having any odd things happening with thier mana after eating them for several days?" Maags asks, "So this is Fin's secret new store?" Raelee says, "One does not grow a garden of fruit on a few jars of soil." Thrassus points north. Speaking to Perigourd, Puptilian says, "Good to know. Thank you." Maags says, "Not secret anymore I spose." Amathea quietly asks, "The shipwreck incindent?" Thrassus says, "The stand is just north of here." Maags furrows her brow. Thagoria says, "The Bleaklands is an interesting name for it." Thagoria says, "I wonder sometimes how these names come about." Speaking to Thagoria, Puptilian asks, "Have you visit there yet?" Maags says, "Rather descriptive." Amathea quietly says, "Can't say I've seen much fruit out there besides those black apples..." Thagoria says, "I have not. I would expect the investigators might go there, since these reports indicate there is some past interaction with it and the Reach." (Regwen glances at the passerby with the green-sheened fruit.) Speaking to Missoni, Perigourd says, "As I told Fynric." Missoni nods thoughtfully at Thagoria. Speaking to Thagoria, Puptilian says, "I have spent a lot of time there. The name fits." Speaking to Missoni, Perigourd says, "He didn't seem to care." Thagoria says, "I never had much reason to go to Talador at all." Thagoria says, "Mestanir, yes. Not Talador." Missoni curiously asks, "Why Mestanir?" Thagoria says, "But then Talador was not that old. Comparatively speaking." Thagoria says, "Mestanir was comparatively welcoming of magical arts." Regwen says, "Bordering area." Speaking to Thagoria, Raelee says, "... and Talador was comparatively uninteresting... until it was destroyed." Puptilian says, "There are still people living outside the blast area of Talador. I tend to send aid to them as I can." Thagoria nods. Missoni says, "I know a fellow from there who studies soul--hamsters." Raelee gives a sidelong glance at Missoni. Thrassus asks, "Soul what?" Thrassus cocks his head at Missoni. Lylia says, "Talador was a mining town, and then a haven for religious zealots, and then..." Speaking to Raelee, Perigourd says, "Decent ore production." Missoni clarifies, "Soul magic. Using hamsters." Missoni looks thoughtful for a moment, then shrugs. Thrassus looks about with a puzzled expression on his face. Lylia says, "I feel that is a clarification without illumination, my dear friend." Lylia snickers. Perigourd glances at Missoni. Speaking to Lylia, Missoni says, "He is an odd sort." Lylia nods. Lylia says, "Somehow, I believe you." Lylia says, "Given that Talador was largely a mining town, I cannot imagine these fruits came from any ordinary Taladoran soil." Thrassus says, "On that note, I think I shall be returning to my office." Thagoria says, "Talador soil must be quite rare now." Thagoria nods at Thrassus. Thrassus says, "Do have a good evening, all." Speaking to Lylia, Perigourd says, "Some fruit require certain minierals to grow best." Speaking to Thrassus, Missoni wishes, "Fair eve." Speaking to Lylia, Perigourd says, "Perhaps the soil without any bleak has some of this in it." Maags says, "Sweet dreams." Speaking to Perigourd, Lylia says, "You ate it too, and no minerals cause an ordinary plum to be that extraordinary." Lylia chuckles. Maags says, "Problies I should be home too. So nice to see yous all tonight." Speaking to Perigourd, Missoni asks, "He collected ash from near that old modwir too, right? The one with Ysharra's hair in it?" Maags exclaims, "Specialles owlies!" Speaking warmly to Maags, Lylia says, "I always love seeing you." Speaking to Maags, Regwen says, "Good night, Maags, sweet dreams." Missoni says, "Quite odd." Speaking to Missoni, Raelee says, "I suspect Ysharra would find this entire business with the fruit quite curious." Speaking to Maags, Puptilian says, "Good night my friend." Speaking to Missoni, Perigourd says, "I'd like to know how his wife is assisting. She seems to be drained by the process." Speaking to Raelee, Missoni says, "I shall have to let her know about it when next we meet." Speaking to Perigourd, Missoni asks, "Drained?" Speaking to Missoni, Perigourd says, "When he brought the stand of fruit, she was too tired from helping to create it that she couldn't attend." Speaking to Regwen, Puptilian asks, "Ready love?" Speaking to Puptilian, Regwen says, "I think so. It is getting rather late." Speaking skeptically to Perigourd, Missoni asks, "Do you find gardening to be so taxing?" Amathea quietly says, "Sounds like ingredients for a ritual to me." Amathea shrugs. Perigourd says, "My gardening doesn't often involve magic." Perigourd chuckles. Raelee nods slowly at Puptilian. Missoni ponders. Speaking to Missoni, Perigourd says, "But it would depend on the plant." Speaking to Thagoria, Regwen says, "Well met, thank you for all the discusion this evening." Thagoria says, "I should leave you all to this agricultural business. I will be in the area watching the mountain." Speaking to Amathea, Lylia says, "Possibly so. But then, other things do not involve much ritual to make them what they are. Wine is no ritual, yet it leads to euphoria." Thagoria nods at Regwen. Missoni nods appreciatively at Thagoria. Amathea curtsies to Thagoria. Regwen smiles at Thagoria. Speaking to Thagoria, Lylia says, "Be well." Speaking to Thagoria, Puptilian says, "Have a great night." Regwen nods at Puptilian. Puptilian says, "Night everyone." Puptilian waves. Speaking to Thagoria, Missoni wishes, "Fair eve." Speaking in Faendryl, Lylia says, "It is a true pleasure to see you here." Speaking quietly to Thagoria, Amathea says, "If you end up that way, the cart that takes you up to the reach offers a lovely view." Lylia puts her hand to her heart and inclines her head in an eloquent gesture of acknowledgement. Missoni agrees with Lylia. Thagoria says, "I doubt the Basilica will use me as a mouthpiece for its decisions, but I will be here for whatever they end up doing." Lylia nods appreciatively at Thagoria. Missoni nods understandingly. Lylia says, "I should probably prepare the townsfolk." Missoni happily says, "Honor and Glory to the Patriarch." Thagoria says, "Be well. Do not let Vespasius taste blood when he bites." Thagoria smirks. Missoni gazes in amusement at Thagoria. Thagoria says, "Honor and Glory to the Patriarch." Lylia says, "I can imagine the circus if Vespasius arrives and is beseiged with 'Why should we listen to you?' and 'What have you done for us lately?' and "what's a Faendryl?'." Thagoria blinks at Lylia. Speaking in Faendryl, Lylia says, "Honor and glory to the Patriarch." Perigourd chuckles. Amathea quietly says, "My thoughts exactly." Speaking to Thagoria, Lylia says, "Trust me. People have asked." Thagoria says, "That would be a horrible.. no, do not let them do that." Lylia says, "I shall do my best to prevent it." Thagoria nods. Lylia says, "Off to write, then." Missoni nods approvingly. Thagoria says, "I will see you all eventually." Amathea quietly says, "I don't know much about it...but when the local heroes are on their best behavior I tend to follow along." Lylia grins at Amathea. Amathea nods at Lylia. Lylia bows to Thagoria. Lylia says, "Be well, all." Thagoria tears open a rift in the veil and disappears through it in a flash.
