The festering taint is a putrescent collection of rotting flesh and disease. The gender of the taint is impossible to make out due to the scabs and boils which cover its skin, oozing out disgustingly. Black and yellow rotting teeth are displayed in a mouth that is unnaturally wide underneath two black eyes that stare out with a frightening spark of intelligence. No nose or ears are visible on the festering taint, but it has a mop of greasy, filthy black hair that sprouts from the top of its head.

Other information

Purify Air (207) provides a significant bonus to defending against the Festering taint's Putrid Air maneuver attack. Divine Intervention (1635) will not remove the disease once it has taken hold.

An example of the putrid air maneuver:

A festering taint wheezes and gags, sending a vaporized cloud of its stomach's former contents in your direction.
Before you can move out of the path of the cloud, it envelops you from head to toe. The need to breathe eventually forces you to inhale heavily while still covered in the toxin filled vapors.

A series of reddish blebs begin to appear randomly over your skin. Though not very painful in and of themselves, they may signal something much more dangerous on the way.
Roundtime: 6 sec.

Scale-like, shiny blebs begin to appear on your skin, growing with frightening rapidity.
Roundtime: 6 sec.

Red spots appear on your skin suddenly. The edges are slightly raised and seem to be spreading rapidly.
Roundtime: 3 sec.

Dark, yellowish nodules erupt from your skin in very inconvenient places, sending threads of pain throughout your entire body. Some of the nodules ooze or bleed, others have made it difficult to move in certain places.
 ... 10 points of damage!
Your vertebrae vibrate causing extreme pain.
Roundtime: 9 sec.

Itch Curse (715) will cause the character to drop items.

A festering taint points a putrid hand at you!

  Warding failed!
A thread of swirling gray magic issues forth from the festering taint toward you. It coils itself around your body, whirling malevolently before disappearing within you.
You shiver slightly as an invisible rash covers your body! A feeling of defenselessness washes over you!

An uncontrollable urge to scratch the rash covering your body overcomes you, and you madly dig at it with your fingernails!

You drop your spikestar and greatshield!
Roundtime: 6 sec.

Spells falling from death of fresh spawn:

The very powerful look leaves a festering taint.
The white light leaves a festering taint.
The deep blue glow leaves a festering taint.
