Myasara Illistim

Myasara Illistim was the most recent post-Lanenreat Argent Mirror of the Elven city-state of Ta'Illistim. The successor to the pragmatist Irinara Illistim who was known for strategic neutrality and power politics in foreign affairs, her reign has been marked with a shift to idealism, with a striking degree of egalitarianism well beyond even Illistim custom. It is regarded as a minority ideology that happens to be held by the high Illistim elite. Formal relations have been opened with numerous traditionally "lesser" races, including a Faendryl embassy, as well as the opening of trade routes west of the Dragonspine. Whether this was foolish or visionary remains to be seen.

Myasara has reigned during a time of radical changes in Elanith. There have been several world ending threats in the past few decades, as well as a sudden emboldened propensity of the Dark Gods to wreak havoc. Her Vaaloran counterpart Tyrnian was assassinated, as well as a rapid turnover of Elven monarchs. Her sister-in-law was sentenced to death for regicide in the death of her royal husband. She was the ruler when the Aelotoi arrived seeking asylum from the kiramon, which led to the shocking expansion of citizenship to non-Elves in the city-states. Her critics often regard her as mercurial or weak, most notably her foreign policy with the Faendryl. She is regarded as by far the most liberal ruler in Illistim history.

Often called "Queen Myasara", Queen was in no way her proper title, but she has so far been too polite to rebuke it. Acceding to the Peacock Throne in 4,878 Modern Era (53,985 Illistim), Myasara has ruled for nearly 240 years, the vicinity of the traditional retirement age for non-dynastic monarchs. Whether she has plans for stepping down any time in the very near future is unknown. She was the niece of Meachreasim Illistim, the famous historian of Elanthia and First Master of Lore, perhaps owing much of her world-view to his learning. She was also a childhood friend of the recently ascendant King Eamon of Ardenai. The influence of this relationship along with Eamon's marriage with Loenthran royalty, and the pre-existent alliance with Vaalor, may have contributed significantly to the universal decision of the Elven monarchs regarding the Aelotoi and their unprecedented extension of citizenship rights.

The Faendryl Demon Summoning Incident

I address my people, the guests within our lands, and the Nations as a whole this day with a heavy heart. As most of you know, a horde of demonic creatures was unleashed upon our Shining City, Ta'Illistim. But who is to blame for these atrocities visited upon us? The answer is obvious -- the Faendryl. Long have we warned them against these heinous practices of magic, and long have we been content to let them be in their city in the Wastes, far away from our ancestral homelands. This time is no longer -- the Faendryl must answer for their crimes against House Illistim's sovereignty and the horror inflicted upon the innocents who call the Shining City their home. Their careless inquiries into the demonic valences have once again brought great tragedy unto the world.

We have in our custody he who is responsible for this -- one Rhythus Veranthe of the Faendryl. He has pleaded the innocence of his 'nation' and takes sole responsibility for what occurred -- but we are not satisfied with this. For what is one rotten pomegranate if the tree that bore it still flowers and spreads its tainted fruit amongst us? We expect the Faendryl as a whole to answer for this, for it was in their academies this boy was educated, it was their culture which formed his reckless and dangerous attitude, and it was their studies of the abominable and forbidden magic that allowed him to rip open a portal and shed the blood of our people.

We of House Illistim demand reparations from the Faendryl in apology, and we insist that they detail the practices this boy went through to Illistim's royal scholars so that it might never occur within our provinces again. Know that we will not be hesitant in retaliation for these crimes against our people if they do not cooperate forthwith.

Know that we will dispense justice upon this boy; a trial shall be conducted in the private courts of our fair city. I ask those who were witness to this event first-hand to aid in our quest for a just and swift trial -- inquisitors shall soon be walking the streets, looking for any information regarding what occurred. Your statements will help us bring this boy to justice cleanly and efficiently.

He appears to be in his 130's, has shoulder length, wavy black hair, green eyes, and tanned skin.
He is in good shape.
He is wearing a pair of brown leather boots, a soft tooled brown leather tunic trimmed in shimmarglin agates, a dark leather pouch, an enruned golden circlet, and a brown velvet cloak trimmed in shimmering golden glimaerstones.

"I am Anhgrim Lewthoraen, special ambassador from her majesty Queen Myasara of House Illistim."

Anhgrim recites:

"I bring you her message. Please, pay attention, for I shant be bothered to repeat it."

"Over the last three years, we have undertaken some exploration and trade with your peoples. It has proven to be... shall we say... profitable to us."

Anhgrim recites:

"After careful consideration, we have decided that it would be in the best interests of the United City-States to further these relationships. As a showing of good will, we have sent scouts to spy out trails through the wilderness. In cooperation with the dwarves of Kharag 'doth Dzulthu, we have arranged travel through the very heart of the DragonSpine."

"By decree of her majesty Queen Myasara of House Illistim, and with the collective approval of the United City-States, Queen Cadhla of the Loenthra, King Tyrnian of the Vaalor, King Eamon of the Ardenais, and Queen Rhosyn of the Nalfein, we hereby declare our borders open for trade and travel."

Formal Recognition of the Faendryl Ambassador

[Ta'Illistim Keep, The Argentate]
The airy chamber is rectangular, its ceiling a soaring vault of reflective silver-gilt mosaic. Beneath the glassy mirror is an open expanse of polished stone flooring and a rostrum, the surface raised three stairsteps above the rest of the room. Two doors, mistwood paneled in silver plating, mark the long walls of the hall, and an immense arch stands opposite the platform. You also see a guardsman.

Myasara frowns.

Murstyr gazes in wonder at his surroundings

The guards quickly look for the person responsible for the disruption.

Myasara frowns slightly, her eyes full of sadness.

Myasara says, "I... we will work with whoever we must to assure the prosperity of our people and their city."

Angry voices yell from outside the keep, "The Argent Mirror is weak. She hands us to the murderers of our brethren."

Myasara gasps.

Myasara quickly composes herself.

Murstyr motions and a pair of guards leave to investigate.

Refusal To Aid Western Elanith With Mitigating Dangers

Speaking to Myasara, Lylia says, "It is an honor to see the Argent Mirror once more shining bright in all its beauty, and I come to you to ask that you shine this illumination to the West."

Myasara blinks.

Myasara says, "There is no help for the west."

Lylia says, "Mana storms surround Melgorehn's reach, and the Koarites from the Sun Throne seek to unravel its mysteries as ardently as they can."

Myasara says, "No amount of light I can shine can penetrate that dark place."

Myasara says, "The west."

Myasara says, "Who imprisoned my husband."

Myasara says, "Killed my messenger."

Lylia firmly says, "An atrocity."

Myasara says, "Imprisoned my scholars sent in peace."

Lylia says, "One that should not go without punishment -- but one that you may seek some small recompense for, in time, or so it is my most fervent hope."

Myasara says, "And allowed them to be killed."

Lylia places a hand over her heart.

Myasara frowns.

Legaci squints at Lylia.

Myasara asks, "You dare talk to me of illuminating the west and its troubles?"

Myasara says, "Each of those lives was a light send to the west."

Lylia softly says, "I would not presume. I would, however, suggest that you not let these losses be in vain."

Myasara says, "The west put them out."

Lylia says, "It was my concern that this darkness could spread to the east."

Myasara says, "No, we do not have enough light in all of the Elven Nations to bring illumination to that place."

Lylia smoothly says, "Forgive my importuning on this, then, a most celebratory evening otherwise."

Myasara says, "I understand we overlooked one very last petitioner."

Lylia smiles serenely and bows, her expression an unchanging mask as she steps back to join the assembly.
