Synopsis

[OOC note: A couple hours before any of the below, there was a brief attack from small numbers of the Ember Vale reivers. I'm not fully aware of the details, but I presume it was against the Imperial camp or the outpost. Dikirk, pastor of the Luinne Bheinn reivers, then spoke with Landing adventurers and cautioned against a possible later attack. You'll see Leafi aware of Dikirk's warning, though, because Emperia told her about it after people were done talking with Dikirk, but before the main event began.]

As adventurers gather in the Landing to prepare against an Ember Vale attack they'd been forewarned of as a possibility, Pukk calls upon the Rooks to take up positions on the roofs and they do.

Lightning begins striking the town square, which at first is just assumed to be a fact of the rainstorm, but then golden motes of light flow from Melgorehn's Reach and people near the Reach as well as people in the square--and a slew of Manna food items in the square--are sucked into a temporal rift! After people get out, they gather at Lake Eonak to investigate.

Some begin to ascend the Reach while most remain back due to the likely scenario of a reiver attack--but things are never that simple! Ethereal mists descend from the Reach towards the lake, then faceless figures rise out of the lake, taking the form of Emperia and attacking! Then more take the form of Perigourd and attack! Then Kelfyr clones attack! Then Nairena clones attack! Then Kiyna clones attack! Then Vaemyr clones attack! More Kiynas, more Nairenas, more Perigourds...

...and, soon enough, everyone become aware that the ethereal figures have gotten into the gates too! Less trained defenders find themselves decimated by the surprise onslaught and other adventurers rush back to defend the town--but, meanwhile, reivers pour out of the forest to make a charge against the outpost! Imperial archers at the outpost and settlement fire on the reivers and ethereal creatures, Rooks fire on the ethereal creatures, and Landing militia clash with ethereal creatures in the streets. Tikba clones enter the fray too and a reiver warhorn eventually blares in the distance, signaling the arrival of Everblood-augmented reivers! Resounding horn blasts signal from the Lower Dragonsclaw, Trollfang, and Lysierian Hills and the arachnids make their move soon enough!

The arachnids further split the divided forces by dragging people around in webs, living or dead, and swarming multiple fronts! Hendoran and Bourthian soldiers rush out of the outpost to take the field against reivers and spiders, then Darkstonian soldiers move to clash with the reivers. Emissary Samfelt calls to hold the trail--but Warchief Haidan himself emerges from the forest and takes the field, advancing toward the grasslands and killing several Darkstonian soldiers on the way!

Samfelt does what he can to bring the fallen back to town square for triage while Commander Sablo charges against Haidan! Reivers and Imperial soldiers occasionally try to intervene, but are quickly cut down, as the two primary combatants' hatchets and tomahawks meet their marks against one another! Meanwhile, invisible reivers fade into view behind tower guards and explosions set the forest ablaze near the settlement!

A woman's scream from the settlement pierces the night, then Sablo and Haidan cease their fighting before Sablo rushes back to the camp and Sablo disappears into the forest. Future Baron Elidal says the Ember Vale has Aronia and asks Sablo to find her! Haidan tells him that if Elidal wants to turn the war into women in cages, so be it. As fighting continues, but gradually slows when no further reinforcements appear forthcoming, Elidal asks if anyone's seen Aronia, but Sablo says there's no trail; she's gone.

Back at the camp, as the skirmishes have ended for the night, Elidal confirms to Magister Raelee that his parents are safe. Tikba advises that Aronia won't be harmed as long as Haidan hopes to get Rheshay back; Elidal says he'd better not harm her and he can be a monster if Haidan wishes, making them wish for a life on Glaoveln by the time he's done. Samfelt reassures that they'll find Aronia while others argue Elidal is better than becoming a monster.

Elidal calms down a bit and says Aronia is strong and the reivers might wish they never took her, then says he should have listened--he could have corrected Sablo's rashness, but paused and asks himself for what: more leverage, and look what it got him. Perigourd says Elidal didn't ask for this war, but Elidal says he knew war would come, asking if he thinks Earl Jovery told him this would be easy or if Ferwin didn't warn him. He says everything he read, heard, and studied told him to run, but the region deserves better and both peoples--the barony and Landing--deserve better.

Elidal says he's sure Haidan will see the value in Aronia's release; Vaemyr advises not letting Tyeid get to Rheshay. Elidal asks Samfelt to get word to the Ember Vale however he sees fit, to meet with Haidan and extend an invitation to discuss a prisoner exchange--and Sablo isn't invited. Vaemyr says Wehnimer's would be happy to mediate if necessary.

Elidal says he needs to lie down, as the moment before rest are best for his mind and for strategy, but first Squire Alosaka says Haidan's won a victory and offering to bargain with him is another victory. He suggests the parley be predicated on an allowance by Haidan that peace might be possible; however, Elidal says waiting last time cost him Aronia, so he won't overextend again, then wishes everyone good night and leaves.

Samfelt considers how to send a message without inciting another battle and considers Dikirk a good option, but he doesn't think highly of Samfelt, who would prefer to avoid tales he's heard of sending an Emissary's head back in a basket. He asks for people's help with resupplying their archers by sending arrows to him and says we must take every measure possible to make peace possible. He wishes everyone good night before going to check the walls.

After he leaves, Raelee mentions that she and Xorus, who had been among those scaling the Reach earlier, were immolated by fires of a similar nature to the manafires. She offers it as a fairly conclusive piece of evidence that the manafires are responsible for the troubles with the Reach.

Lightning Is Striking Again and Again and Again and Again

[Town Square Central]

This is the heart of the main square of Wehnimer's Landing. The impromptu shops of the bazaar are clustered around this central gathering place, where townsfolk, travellers, and adventurers meet to talk, conspire or raise expeditions to the far-flung reaches of Elanith. At the north end, an old well, with moss-covered stones and a craggy roof, is shaded from the moonlight by a strong, robust tree. The oak is tall and straight, and it is apparent that the roots run deep. You also see a battered antique faewood crate, the palm frond-shaped Leafiara disk, the Eldekkar disk, the Asben disk, a sharp-nosed grey puppy with long corded fur, the Tayler disk, the Pukk disk, the flaming Nairena disk, the faenor Chandrellia disk inlaid with intersecting bands of jet, the Emperia disk, the Kialeigh disk, a sleek raven black kitten masked in stormy grey fur, a twist of fragrant catnip, a pale-faced coppery barn owl, a crisped kitten pot pie, a sugared barley and oat cake, a sugared barley and oat cake, a sundried tomato and garlic loaf, a sugared barley and oat cake, a twisted wand, an old well, some wide stone benches with some stuff on it, an herbal remedy donation bin, a round silver-banded barrel and obvious signs of someone hiding.

The sky begins to fill with huge clouds, dark and grey on the bottom, pale and white atop, their puffy crowns ascending toward the heavens.

Speaking to a sleek raven black kitten masked in stormy grey fur, Chandrellia says, "Owly will carry you off and drop you in a tree, behave."

Speaking to a pale-faced coppery barn owl, Pukk says, "The kitten doesn't know better."

Nairena says, "Jaffrey."

Speaking to Kialeigh, Markx says, "Books at least hold some value."

[General] Pukk thinks, "Looks like some choppy weather."

Speaking to Markx, Kialeigh says, "Disks are prettier."

A bolt of lightning streaks down from the sky and strikes Pukk!

Light shock to abdomen. That stings!

A tremendous crack of thunder follows instantly!

Pukk flails his arms about.

Pukk exclaims, "Ouch!"

Pukk raises his fist defiantly.

Pukk yells, "You missed me!"

Speaking to Pukk, Nairena says, "I dont think the Gods like you right now."

Speaking to Nairena, Pukk says, "It's Cholen."

Speaking helpfully to Pukk, Leafiara suggests, "I think the clouds are mad you haven't announced someone to join."

Speaking to Kialeigh, Markx says, "I got duped into making my disk look like a crab. No. Not beautiful. The onlything even slightly resembling that that is beautiful is my hat."

Town Councilor Vaemyr's group just arrived.

Nairena says, "Whoever."

Pukk exclaims, "Aha!"

Pukk recites:

"Everybody join Vaemyr!"

Pukk joins Vaemyr's group.

Nairena says, "It could be Ivas for all you know."

Speaking to Kiyna, Pukk asks, "Do you want to be a small Cryheart?"

Speaking to Pukk, Kiyna exclaims, "I could be!"

Vaemyr says, "Perigourd is almost as shiney as Cryheart."

A gargantuan cloudy grey tiger is discovered by Markx!

Leafiara curiously asks, "Whose tiger is this, anyway?"

Nairena says, "Shes a decent hidderer."

Leafiara says, "He's so... big."

Kialeigh says to Markx, "You, sir, are a lewd, fool-born death-token!"

Markx says to Kialeigh, "You, madam, are a villainous, hedge-born manticore wrangler!"

Kialeigh says, "I mean.. thanks."

Markx says, "I believe it to be Jaffrey's."

Nairena says, "Marky."

Kialeigh says, "That's a pretty amazing thing."

[General] Pukk exclaims, "Our Cryheart for tonight will be Kiyna!"

Speaking to Kialeigh, Kiyna asks, "You wrangle manticores?"

Speaking to Nairena, Markx asks, "Aye?"

Speaking to Kiyna, Kialeigh says, "After breakfast every morning."

Pukk recites:

"Kiyna will be leading us! She is too fierce to overlook!"

Speaking to Markx, Nairena says, "Such a dirty mouth."

[General] Leafiara exclaims, "We very well might need multiple groups anyway!"

Nairena asks, "Manticore wrangler?"

Speaking to Nairena, Asben asks, "You are?"

Speaking to Leafiara, Vaemyr says, "Well based on earlier conversations I'm gonna guess trouble at the outpost and check on the jail, if something else happens, I'll meet up."

Kialeigh says, "At least it wasn't a buncha egg insults tonight."

Vaemyr says, "Good luck everyone."

Kialeigh says, "Normally he's far less potent."

Markx says, "So we all gunna die tonight or what."

Speaking to Asben, Nairena says, "I am many things. But im not that."

Speaking to Leafiara, Pukk says, "I think he might be upset about my sympath comment on him earlier."

[General] Leafiara exclaims, "If any attacks occur, the target is most likely the outpost, but we'll need to keep eyes everywhere in case we have to pivot quickly. Stay in touch and we should be fine!"

Kiyna says, "Aye, we had a brief reiver attack earlier. Dikirk warns that there may be a much stronger second wave soon."

Speaking to Markx, Kialeigh says, "Speak fer yerself. I'm gonna live forever."

Speaking to Nairena, Asben asks, "Do the manticores know that?"

Speaking to Asben, Nairena says, "I have honestly never killed an manitcore before."

Speaking to Kialeigh, Markx says, "If ya ain't dyin, ya ain't... dyin."

Speaking to Kialeigh, Markx exclaims, "Or tryin!"

Speaking to Asben, Nairena says, "So im in good standings with them."

Speaking to Markx, Kialeigh says, "It's... if yer not dying.. yer not trying."

Kialeigh says, "Exactly.. someone's been studying."

[General] Pukk thinks, "Rooks. Man those roofs. Watch for any getting in."

Nairena asks, "Whos leading this parade of death?"

Speaking to Nairena, Kiyna exclaims, "I am for now!"

Pukk says, "Kiyna."

[General] Leafiara exclaims, "Leaving a variety of manna foods in the square in case triage gets overwhelmed!" [Leafi can now make a very wide variety of Manna foods and I was just having too much fun]

Kialeigh exclaims, "Don't point that evil at me!!!"

[General] Vaemyr thinks, "I'm keeping a lookout at the dungeon in the outpost for now, will pivot where needed."

Kiyna says, "But Perigourd has a second group building, it appears."

Nairena says, "If I die, I am personally blaming Asben."

Leafiara says, "Good, we probably need multiple groups."

Mourdeyan says, "Indeed."

Kiyna says, "If there are sympaths, several smaller groups are key."

Markx says, "Appoint me to the one that's most likely to die please."

Kialeigh says, "I hope people get horribly maimed.."

Hooded figures rush along the rooftops of town, their dark cloaks glistening from the rain.

Kialeigh says, "Not die."

Markx exclaims, "Thar they are!"

[General] Leafiara exclaims, "Nice work, Herald Pukk!"

[General] Pukk thinks, "Thanks guys."

Nairena yells, "Get em good, Rooks!"

Speaking to Nairena, Leafiara assures, "Oh, we will."

Alosaka asks, "Rooks, or Remnants?"

Markx says, "Zipper zap time."

Perigourd says, "Lets hope those aren't the Remnants."

Novarian says, "Those could always be remnants..."

Novarian says, "So be careful."

Kialeigh says, "Bring on the death and dismemberment."

Pukk says, "No."

Kialeigh says, "I'm ready."

Leafiara says, "If they were Remnants, we'd be under fire already."

Tikba says, "I suppose we will know soon enough."

Golden streaks of lightning dance along the jagged peaks of Melgorehn's Reach.

Kiyna says, "If they're Remnants, they won't be for long."

Leafiara says, "This would be just about the best time to strike, honestly."

Perigourd says, "You've got to be kidding."

Mourdeyan says, "The reach..."

Markx says, "O no! Here we go..."

Novarian says, "Oh great..."

Kialeigh exclaims, "No.. no no... no Reach activity!"

[General] Pukk thinks, "Our task if we get an invasion is to protect the town. Others will see to the camp."

Speaking to Nairena, Markx says, "Bork."

Speaking to Perigourd, Tikba says, "You must wait to say that until Tyrrax arrives."

[General] Leafiara informs, "Lightning is sporadically striking the square... possibly from the Reach activity. Be prepared for anything!"

Mourdeyan says, "Ye tempt the gods."

Kiyna says, "Alright... Remnants, reivers, and Reach abominations, then? Sounds like your average Niiman."

A curtain of golden motes of light cascade down from Melgorehn's Reach, drifting on the summer wind like a sea of chromatic fireflies.

Kialeigh exclaims, "I'm not empowered by lightning!"

Kiyna asks, "Should I head over to Lake Eonak, then?"

Leafiara exclaims, "You're the leader. You make the call where to go!"

A low rumble echoes through the room making your hair stand on end. A single point of light flickers to life in the center of the room moments before erupting into a massive swirling vortex!

Grutchemking is sucked into the vortex!

Drektor is sucked into the vortex!

Barnessa is sucked into the vortex!

Kialeigh is sucked into the vortex!

Kiyna is sucked into the vortex!

Novarian is sucked into the vortex!

Nairena is sucked into the vortex!

Tikba is sucked into the vortex!

The vortex pulls at you intensely as you lose control and are sucked directly into its depths!

Time and space blur before your eyes, stretching and warping until...

Tikba bemusedly says, "I suppose the lightning should have been suggestive."

Kialeigh says, "I shall take this with me."

Pukk says, "I'm usually good with this place."

Markx says, "I'm goin with you."

Alosaka says, "Perhaps this was Haidan's plan."

Asben says, "Dunno but it's full of tasty things."

Leafiara says, "Well, this could get problematic."

Speaking to Leafiara, Pukk says, "I'm going to follow you."

You suddenly notice that the images of your past are catching up with you. With a blinding flash you find yourself whisked forward in time and space until...

[Mountain Path]

The high walls of this twisting canyon plunge the area into almost total darkness. A narrow crevice in the north wall appears to lead out to moonlit ground while a little used trail follows along the rubble strewn floor of this secret pass.

[General] Chandrellia thinks, "I'm back in TSC if anyone needs a target."

Kiyna exclaims, "I got warped over the the t-top of G-glatoph!"

Tikba thoughtfully says, "It may not be a safe place to remain."

[General] Leafiara thinks, "...refreshing the square's supply of manna food in case this was a one-off, but this might be a sign triage will need to move elsewhere."

Tikba evenly says, "I went to Darkstone Castle."

Pukk recites:

"Everybody rejoin Kiyna!"

Asben says, "I was in the spider temple."

Speaking to Kiyna, Chandrellia says, "I ended up in the catacombs."

Emperia says, "I exited in the Spider Temple."

Leafiara says, "I ended up near the Zeltoph. Again."

Leafiara absently says, "That's where I ended up last time..."

[General] Pukk thinks, "Remember if TSC becomes unsafe. Move to voln or the trophy room."

Chandrellia says, "Well the Under crypt, in teh ice room."

A bolt of lightning streaks down from the sky and strikes Leafiara!

Kiyna says, "Let's check Lake Eonak, at least. Moving soon."

Speaking to Leafiara, Pukk says, "Shocking."

Geijon says, "Dirkk was right about something it seems."

[General] Leafiara asks, "Kiyna's group checking on Lake Eonak shortly. Where are other groups posted?"

Kiyna says, "Moving in three."

Geijon says, "Perigourd is there with Missoni."

[General] Leafiara thinks, "Believe we still have Vaemyr watching the dungeon."

[Melgorehn's Reach, Lake Eonak]

You are on the bank of a beautiful mountain lake that is fed by a waterfall gushing from the mountain side. There is a path which seems to actually lead up the side of the mountain. You also see a flame-eyed burnished ember fox, the web-draped Missoni disk, the repousse copper Perigourd disk raised in leafy designs, a lazy wild black dog, an animated flayed gigas disciple, a cedar chip path and a barely visible trail leading into a grove of ancient trees.

Gold, silver, and bronze bolts of lightning weave along the heavens, throwing half of the Reach in a metallic glow.

[General] Nairena thinks, "I found a special room."

Leafiara says, "Or... not, apparently Vaemyr came here too."

[General] Directed curiously to Nairena, Leafiara asks, "What do you mean?"

Perigourd says, "Hmm.."

Chandrellia says, "Watch your footing."

[General] Nairena thinks, "Colossus Crown."

Citizens, merchants and assorted dregs of society jostle against you before the great wooden gates of Wehnimer's Landing. Harried guards and militiamen try to keep the chaos to a minimum, but it is hard to keep track of those entering, let alone leaving, this large trading post. A dirt path encircling the wooden palisade of the town leads east and southwest. Nailed prominently to the wooden wall beside the gate is a sign you really should read. You also see the Wayside inn and some reinforced wooden gates.

The cliff trail comes to an abrupt halt at a sheer drop off. It seems the ledge continues onward after about a forty yard gap. Cut into the mountain side, by means that you cannot imagine, is a perfectly round opening which is large enough to enter. You also see the repousse copper Perigourd disk raised in leafy designs, a mountain path and what appears to be a giant, stone draw bridge which is presently spanning the gap to the ledge on the other side.

Ethereal mists begin to coil around Melgorehn's Reach and begin to descend towards Lake Eonak.

This is the heart of the main square of Wehnimer's Landing. The impromptu shops of the bazaar are clustered around this central gathering place, where townsfolk, travellers, and adventurers meet to talk, conspire or raise expeditions to the far-flung reaches of Elanith. At the north end, an old well, with moss-covered stones and a craggy roof, is shaded from the moonlight by a strong, robust tree. The oak is tall and straight, and it is apparent that the roots run deep. [Town Square, West] Here in the midst of the town stretches the cobblestoned main bazaar, its lamplit lanes abuzz with traders and vendors hawking their wares at any hour of the day or night. Groups of citizens, discussing the day's events or preparing for nighttime hunts, gather around the doors of the merchants whose shops border the square. The gilded but peeling stone facade of the First Elanith Bank dominates this side of the square. You also see an ethereal Nairena and an ethereal Kelfyr.

Darkstonian soldiers spin and move onto the hatchet man in the woods, who snarls and overwhelms them quickly, tearing at their legs with his hatchet, dropping them to the ground before stomping on their faces. His axe is blocked by a shield of a soldier, so he lowers his shoulder and charges, knocking down the imperial soldier and driving the hatchet into his face. It takes him two pulls to remove it, before he moves onto the next soldier.'

At the north end, an old well, with moss-covered stones and a craggy roof, is shaded from the moonlight by a strong, robust tree. The oak is tall and straight, and it is apparent that the roots run deep. This is the heart of the main square of Wehnimer's Landing. The impromptu shops of the bazaar are clustered around this central gathering place, where townsfolk, travellers, and adventurers meet to talk, conspire or raise expeditions to the far-flung reaches of Elanith. At the north end, an old well, with moss-covered stones and a craggy roof, is shaded from the moonlight by a strong, robust tree. The oak is tall and straight, and it is apparent that the roots run deep. The clang of metal, and the howl of two mad men fill the night as Sablo and Haidan clash in the forest. Their movements are harsh, and fierce, an axe biting flesh, a tomahawk digging into a thigh. They thrash and weave, sparks flying from their weapons, spittle flying from their snarled teeth. They only pause momentarily to strike down nearby reivers, or imperial soldiers who try to quicken their battle.

Speaking to Leafiara, the ghostly voice of Perigourd says, "So it would seem."

Leafiara heavily sighs, "Sorry about that. This has got me running all over the place."

Speaking to Leafiara, Vaemyr says, "I'm just trying to protect the town for now."

Leafiara says, "One moment..."

Nairena weakly says, "Samfelt sighting."

[General] Nairena thinks, "Samfelt sighting."

Speaking to Leafiara, the ghostly voice of Perigourd says, "Defend the town, I'll be fine."

[General] Nairena thinks, "In town."

[General] The ghost of Kiyna thinks, "Samfelt is rescuing our warriors. Let him be."

Leafiara recites:

[General] Leafiara exclaims, "We've regrouped, got a reasonable sized team to take the streets back... we'll see how this goes!"

Along the wooden towers of the settlement, the forms of reiver axemen suddenly fade into visibility behind the tower guards. They are savage in their strike, tearing out throats and flaying faces as they cut down the imperials. There are cries from the camp, and then a huge explosion rocks the settlement as flames suddenly erupt and ignite the Dragonsclaw forest near its path.

[Wehnimer's, North Ring Rd.]

The cobbled road girds the town along the inner side of the northern palisade. Just to the north stand the twin sentinels of the gate's guardtowers, silhouetted against the night sky. Guardsmen come and go through the main gates, keeping a close eye on the people of all races who move to and fro. Opposite the gates, you see the shop of Dakris the Furrier. Citizens, merchants and assorted dregs of society jostle against you before the great wooden gates of Wehnimer's Landing. Harried guards and militiamen try to keep the chaos to a minimum, but it is hard to keep track of those entering, let alone leaving, this large trading post. A dirt path encircling the wooden palisade of the town leads east and southwest. Nailed prominently to the wooden wall beside the gate is a sign you really should read. Stumps pepper the spacious clearing, as stacked logs leave evidence of their recent removal. A grove of trees surrounds the area, leaving a natural palisade to add some security to the campsite. Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "Those of us, who've lived in this bit of frontier for a while. We've been through a lot. You can trust us a bit when we try to offer some advise on things."

Samfelt can offer Tikba only a blank expression.

Speaking frankly to Samfelt, Leafiara says, "She's not wrong."

Elidal twists his head slightly, cracking his neck. He looks relieved.

Missoni optimistically says, "Perhaps we shall make this the last war for a while."

Alosaka notes, "Sir Guarrin's offer of a knight's advice and counsel remains open."

Elidal says, "We'll save her. I am sure if Haidan feels like I d..."

Elidal slowly empties his lungs.

Elidal says, "I am sure he'll see the value in her release."

Speaking frankly to Elidal, Tikba says, "Yes, he does."

Tikba politely suggests, "You will need to make a special effort to guarantee that."

Alosaka notes, "Warchief Haidan's stated objective hasn't changed. He wants you and everyone else in this settlement dead."

Tikba says, "Sablo was not invited to the previous meeting."

Kiyna says, "Sablo wasn't invited to our parley, either."

Perigourd says, "Dikirks church might service, if Dikirk is willing."

Leafiara pragmatically suggests, "Distract Sablo with some other simultaneous task that night."

Elidal says, "I'll put Sablo in Rheshay's cell until the exchange is done if needed."

Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "Wehnimer's would be happy to mediate if need be. To ensure nothing goes wrong in the proceding."

Elidal nods at Vaemyr.

Elidal says, "Yes."

Leafiara considers, "I guess that works too."

Speaking to Elidal, Raelee offers, "There are multiple cells in the dungeon."

Elidal clenches his jaw.

Vaemyr says, "We've had deals with Haidan with the release of the children, and Rheshay has parlayed with us before, so hopefully he will trust us to act as a safeguard... to any attempts on either side."

Chandrellia says, "I dont think that would be wise, he has already attacked Landing for our part in aiding the settlement."

Tikba whispers something to Alosaka.

Elidal says, "....I need to lie down. The moments before rest are the best for my mind...and for strategy."

Samfelt asks, "I will make sure they know your words and terms, Lord Elidal. Give me until Koaratos to arrange a meeting?"

Alosaka says, "Lord Elidal, if I may..."

Elidal nods at Samfelt.

[General] Pukk thinks, "Okay. Going to do one last check around town."

Elidal peers quizzically at Alosaka.

[General] Leafiara appreciatively exclaims, "Thank you, Pukk!"

Samfelt glances about with a look of concern on his face.

Alosaka says, "Haidan has won a victory tonight. Your offering to bargain with him is another victory. Perhaps it would be best matched if this parley was predicated on some allowance by him that peace might be possible."

Geijon says, "Lot transpired tonight to evaluate and consider."

Alosaka says, "There's little point in agreeing to a meeting if he still wants to kill all of you."

Alosaka shrugs.

Tikba says, "There is. Aronia."

Speaking to Alosaka, Vaemyr says, "I disagree."

Leafiara says, "What Tikba said."

Elidal says, "I waited last time, and tried to overreach, and it cost me Aronia."

Elidal nods at Alosaka.

Elidal says, "I won't overextend again."

Alosaka nods.

Elidal says, "Goodnight."

[General] Pukk thinks, "Looks like it's all clear. No more bodies or reivers."

Leafiara says, "Haidan was able to strike at an opportune time, but in the past we've had relatively little trouble repelling him."

Leafiara muses, "I suppose the alternative is leaving messages around the kobold village and other areas he's spying on, but that's too easily compromised."

Speaking to Samfelt, Perigourd says, "I'm more than willing to do what's necessary to ensure her safe return if needed."

Vaemyr says, "I think Dikirk is the best option."

Vaemyr says, "For getting a message to them."

Samfelt says, "A message that won't result in further conflict. I have heard some tales where they send the Emissary's head back in a basket."

Alosaka dryly says, "Or we could just ask Jadedragan to pass the message."

Vaemyr says, "Or Rheshay herself, might know a way."

Speaking politely to Samfelt, Tikba says, "Remember that it is not his crown, but Koar's, and Dikirk his loyal servant. I am told he is sensitive about such things."

Speaking to Samfelt, Vaemyr says, "If you need, I still have a magical teleporting cannister that we could probably recongfigure to send to Haidan."

Speaking to Samfelt, Leafiara says, "I think you'll be fine as long as you maintain distance as the current plan is, going through Dikirk."

Vaemyr says, "Although he might think it's a bomb or something."

Alosaka says, "Dikirk is our best intermediary."

Vaemyr says, "Aye, start with Dikirk."

Samfelt says, "We will be repairing our fortifications over the next couple weeks, and resupplying our archers. If anyone wishes to fletch arrows, they can send them to me."

Alosaka says, "This is still an uneven meeting, though. We are coming to the table with Rheshay and an offer of peace, while Haidan is merely coming with Aronia."

Samfelt says, "The arrows you have provided so far are invaluable. And we should not be unprepared."

Falvicar whispers something to Chandrellia.

Speaking to Alosaka, Kiyna asks, "What do you propose?"

Leafiara encouragingly says, "I'll send along some fireleaf arrows. You can tell them Leafi helps them fire fireleaf."

Leafiara indicates a bundle of fireleaf arrows as a possible option.

Samfelt says, "They will be appreciated."

Speaking to Kiyna, Alosaka says, "I would prefer that Haidan at least offer the possibility of peace as part of this meeting. The potential for a solution."

Speaking to Alosaka, Kiyna says, "That is not in our hands."

Speaking to Alosaka, Vaemyr says, "One step at a time."

Alosaka says, "It's in Elidal's hands."

Speaking to Alosaka, Perigourd says, "If it costs him face with the clan, it may be out of the question for him."

Tikba asks, "And if peace is not possible?"

Vaemyr says, "Trying to do too much, can make you lose everything."

Geijon says, "We've experience in rescue and extraction missions."

Vaemyr says, "For now, I agree with just trying to get Aronia back, and Rheshay released, which will also serve to weaken Tyeid."

Leafiara says, "Haidan's made it pretty clear, at least to me, that there's no prospect of peace that doesn't involve the barony returning south. Granted, that could change if he continues to take even heavier losses, but..."

Speaking to Alosaka, Perigourd says, "The worst he can say is no."

Speaking to Alosaka, Perigourd says, "So it's worth asking."

Samfelt says, "We should be taking every measure possible to make peace a possible outcome." [not sure who this is a response to, so just bolding basically everything]

Alosaka says, "Then I'm not sure the exchange is appropriate."

Tikba says, "Even if Haidan were to change his view, the next leader might change it back."

Geijon says, "If we locate th' Ember Vale we have other options to consider."

Speaking surreptitiously to Tikba, Leafiara acknowledges, "Reasonable point."

Speaking to Perigourd, Kiyna says, "That's not the worst he can say. The very notion could insult him and sour the rest of the talks."

Alosaka observes, "That has been a concern throughout history."

Samfelt says, "One step at a time, then." [not sure who this is a response to either, so just bolding basically everything]

Raelee whispers something to Alosaka.

Speaking to Samfelt, Missoni says, "I think peace would be more likely with Tyeid...removed."

Tikba amusedly says, "It seems so long ago that I believed we could make peace with the Ember Vale. But I was persuaded we could not."

Speaking to Geijon, Vaemyr says, "We should not wait till then, we've tried for months already, I'm sure we'll find entry eventually, but we should get Aronia back first."

Speaking to Kiyna, Perigourd says, "If he truly wants Rheshay back, he won't go that far with the bandy of words asking for something he knows we'll likely ask for anyway."

Speaking to Alosaka, Tikba says, "By you, my friend."

Alosaka says, "I said earlier that Haidan was a fool to wager so much on recovering Rheshay."

Samfelt says, "I believe there isn't much else for me to do tonight, other than check the walls and hope for the best that they hold until the repairs are finished."

Tikba calmly says, "If we cannot make peace, we must do what is necessary."

Speaking to Tikba, Leafiara echoes, "Welcome to Wehnimer's Landing?"

Samfelt says, "I will leave you all to your evening."

Samfelt bows.

Emissary Samfelt just went east.

Discussion Afteward

Speaking to Tikba, Alosaka says, "We can make peace if they want to make peace. If they have no desire for peace, we cannot oblige them."

Falvicar whispers something to Chandrellia.

Speaking to Alosaka, Tikba agrees, "Yes."

Tikba says, "But if we cannot make our enemies friends, we have only one other choice."

Speaking to Tikba, Vaemyr says, "I tend to agree, I don't think there can be peace as they currently exist between them and Darkstone. If there was, then they would have no reason not to rejoin Dikirk's clans."

Tikba says, "I will help you."

Vaemyr says, "But certainly there will not be peace, while Tyeid is out there."

Tikba calmly says, "I must pray, my friends. Be well."

Kiyna says, "I'll have Samfelt send me a list. The settlement suffered severe damage in this last attack. I could try to submit a proposal for some relief supplies."

Speaking wearily to Missoni, Perigourd says, "Lets seek some rest ourselves."

Speaking to Tikba, Chandrellia says, "Thank you again for life this night."

Speaking to Tikba, Missoni says, "Fair evening to you."

Geijon says, "One of th' more unified fronts, even if we took a beating."

[General] Pukk thinks, "Good job on defending the town all. Everybody have a good night."

Vaemyr says, "And our best chance at getting an opening to strike Tyeid, is for Rheshay to return to the Ember Vale."

Raelee says, "... as an aside..."

Speaking to Kiyna, Leafiara asks, "Bit of last council activity, eh?"

Missoni says, "Yes, rest sounds good."

[General] Leafiara exclaims, "Rest well, Pukk! Great work!"

Speaking to Leafiara, Vaemyr says, "We still got a month and a half on our terms."

Raelee says, "Xorus and I were immolated by fires of a similar nature to the manafires while atop the Reach."

Raelee says, "... it is a fairly conclusive piece of evidence."

Speaking to Raelee, Leafiara asks, "Of... what?"

Raelee adds, "Carry on."

Speaking to Raelee, Alosaka asks, "What did it feel like?"

Speaking to Raelee, Perigourd says, "Later then."

Leafiara asks, "That the manafires are the problem?"

Raelee nods at Leafiara.

Speaking to Leafiara, Kiyna says, "The idea that the manafires are related to the sickness affecting the Reach."

Leafiara says, "Well... at least that trip up was worth it, then."
