Weapons used by adventurers to engage in the combat system are classified into separate categories depending on the skills required to be proficient in them.
WEAPON Verb
- For more information, see: Weapon Technique
The WEAPON command is used for Weapon Techniques, which are learned automatically by martial professions as they train in weapon skills. New techniques are granted when a character achieves 10, 25, 50, and 75 ranks in a weapon skill. Pure spellcaster professions do not receive weapon techniques.
Base Weapon Types
The following is a list of base weapon types by the skill that a character needs to train to have proficiency in the weapon. Within a weapon skill category, the base weapon types are mainly differentiated by their Damage Factor (how hard they hit vs. different armors), AvD (how easily they hit vs. different armors), and Attack Roundtime (how long it takes to make an attack). For an in-depth explanation of these mechanics, see the Combat Guide. Unarmed combat items such as handwraps and footwraps work differently and are explained in the Unarmed Combat System article.
Each base weapon type may have multiple alternative nouns: for example, a "knife" and a "dirk" are both of the dagger type and behave the same mechanically. See the individual weapon pages for possible alternative nouns, or view the full list.
