A '''Tailor Order Book''', commonly called an '''Alteration Book''', is a book that can be used to alter certain items without the intervention of a live merchant. These books will '''ERASE''' any previous short+long and show descriptions on items are altered with them.

There are several different parts that can be combined in different formations to create the item's description. They are noun, adjective, color, material, embellishment, embellishment adjective, embellishment color, embellishment material, and embellishment attachment.

Only the noun is required, and if no noun is chosen, will default to the existing noun. These options can be selected in different combinations, but cannot exceed 13 words or 75 characters.

Most of the time, the description will be built <adjective> <color> <material> <noun> <embellishment attachment> <embellishment adjective> <embellishment color> <embellishment material> <embellishment>. Some embellishments shift the order to <embellishment adjective> <embellishment color> <embellishment material> <embellishment><adjective> <color> <material> <noun>.

Scripted items can be reviewed on a case-by-case basis to be allowed to work with the order book, using {{boldmono|REVIEW <ITEM> WITH BOOK}}. The script must have no customization options or alteration restrictions listed in the item's {{boldmono|ANALYZE}} information. All options in the book must work with the script messaging for the script to be allowed.

To see if your script item will work with the book, have the item in one hand and the book in the other. Then {{boldmono|OPEN BOOK}}.

There are three versions of the order book:
* '''Standard order book''' - comes with a set number of uses (up to 100 can be bundled into one book). When the last use is spent, the book is discarded; anything still inside it is returned to you first.
* '''Wedding order book''' - can be used a limited number of times on non-Espousal items before the start of your wedding, and is discarded after that time. Espousal items must be altered by the merchants on the Wedding Concourse before the wedding.
* '''Auction order book''' - comes with 5 order slips per week, which reset weekly. Auction books cannot use {{boldmono|TEAR}} or {{boldmono|TINKER}}.

You can OPEN the book to begin an order, TURN or FLIP through the pages, WRITE your preferred design for each selection, and REDEEM the book to complete your order. CLOSE the book to cancel your order. PROD the book to toggle between "some" and "a pair of" for plural items. If you are stumped for ideas, give the book a PONDER.

If you have your own preferred color, POUR your dye on the book when it is open to the color selection page.
You may TWIST a gemstone on the book for a special color related to that gemstone. This is the same pool of colors as the Person of Honor items.
You may DROP a gemstone or an item that inspects as a special material to have that property imparted to the alteration.
The item, gemstone, or dose of dye is consumed and cannot be returned. Not all descriptions will work with all materials and colors.

The order book can be used 10 times. If you cannot find a suitable alteration to use your order slips on, you may TEAR the book to remove a light yellow note to reduce an item's encumbrance by one pound or a pale pink note that can increase a container's capacity by ten pounds. You may TINKER the book to decide which note to tear out.

A Tailor Order Book, commonly called an Alteration Book, is a book that can be used to alter certain items without the intervention of a live merchant. These books will ERASE any previous short+long and show descriptions on items are altered with them.

Scripted items can be reviewed on a case-by-case basis to be allowed to work with the order book, using REVIEW <ITEM> WITH BOOK. The script must have no customization options or alteration restrictions listed in the item's ANALYZE information. All options in the book must work with the script messaging for the script to be allowed.

To see if your script item will work with the book, have the item in one hand and the book in the other. Then OPEN BOOK.

There are three versions of the order book:

  • Standard order book - comes with a set number of uses (up to 100 can be bundled into one book). When the last use is spent, the book is discarded; anything still inside it is returned to you first.
  • Wedding order book - can be used a limited number of times on non-Espousal items before the start of your wedding, and is discarded after that time. Espousal items must be altered by the merchants on the Wedding Concourse before the wedding.
  • Auction order book - comes with 5 order slips per week, which reset weekly. Auction books cannot use TEAR or TINKER.

Analyze

Standard

This Tailor Order Book will allow you to customize simple garments without the assistance of a live alterer.

Use of this order book is restricted to you.

Auction

(same first four paragraphs as Standard)

The auction order book can be used 5 times per week. You have 5 order slips left this week.

Usage

Verb Function
CLOSE Cancel an order.
DROP/PUT {ITEM} ON BOOK Add a gemstone or an item that inspects as a special material to have that property imparted to the alteration. The gemstone or item is consumed and cannot be returned.
FLIP Cycle through the book's pages.
LOOK/READ While closed, shows the book's cover. While open, shows the current page.
OPEN Begin an order.
PONDER Gives a random suggestion.
POUR {DYE} ON BOOK Use a dye for the color while on the color selection page. The dye is consumed and cannot be returned.
PROD Toggle between "some" and "a pair of" for plural items. Does not work for corsets, petticoats, prayerbeads, robes, skirts, or underskirts.
REDEEM Complete an order. Must be repeated within 30 seconds to confirm. You must be visible to redeem.
REVIEW {ITEM} WITH BOOK Submit a scripted item to be reviewed for use with the order book.
TEAR Tear out a note instead of using an order slip. A light yellow note reduces an item's weight by 1 pound, and a pale pink note increases a container's capacity by 10 pounds. Requires a free hand and must be repeated within 30 seconds to confirm. Uses one charge. Not available on auction books.
TINKER Toggle which note TEAR will give you. Not available on auction books.
TURN Cycle through the book's pages.
TURN BOOK TO {OPTION} {CHOICE} Show different choices available, such as TURN BOOK TO COLOR BLACK to view the different "black" choices for the "color" option.
TWIST {GEMSTONE} ON BOOK Use a gemstone to get a special color related to that gemstone. The gemstone is consumed and cannot be returned. Only works on page 4 (color) or page 8 (embellishment color). Does not work on jewelry or on hard-material embellishments.
WRITE Write the preferred design for a selection.

Colors

TURN BOOK TO PAGE 4
You flip to page 4 of the order book, entitled "Colors."

You see headings for pinks, reds, oranges, yellows, greens, blues, violets, whites, blacks, browns, multicolored, or all. TURN the book to COLOR {CHOICE} to see those colors.
You may also choose none.

WRITE your choice in the book to proceed. FLIP the pages to go back to a selection of adjectives to choose from for your item. TURN the pages to move forward to a selection of designs to choose from for your embellishment. REDEEM the book to finish your order.

On the left side of the page is a drawing of some twill pants, which you envision as some pants.

If you are on Wrayth, all of these options are hyperlinked. If not, then you will want to TURN MY BOOK TO COLOR {CHOICE}.
