The krag dweller appears to be a cross between a troll and elemental rock. It towers over 8 feet tall with massive limbs. Jet black hairs grow between the plates of its brown scaly hide while long razor sharp fangs and claws provide the krag dweller with all the weapons it will ever need. Even darker than the blackest night, its eyes reveal the smouldering malice within.
Hunting strategies
If you can hide they are easily ambushed by waiting for them to sniff and then ambushing. They have a slow roundtime for their level and you can often two-for-one them. They appear to be geared toward the more physical classes, unlike their krag yeti cousins which can be hunted well by all classes.
Krag dwellers:
- Have physical attacks in the moderate range for their level as well as a a strong maneuver attack that can put you prone, add roundtime, and stun. They cast no magic.
- Are immune to many types of magic including most elemental and nature magic such as: Spike Thorn (616) and Tangle Weed (610); Dark Catalyst (719), Implosion (720), and fire; and Web (118), including web bolt.
- Are susceptible to plasma (ex. Empathic Assault (1110)), Call Swarm (615), and Unbalance (110). Pain (711) is also effective.
- Have moderate perception (sniffing out a 2x hiding ranger with appropriate spells running approximately 1 in 20 times).
- Carry no treasure but can be skinned while holding a one-handed blunt weapon with an empty hand. If successful the skinning attempt will yield a brilliant purple opal which is a gem and can be purified by a bard.
- Cannot be stunned by normal attacks.
It is recommended to gain advantage by using unbalance, which knocks them down and gives you a bit of time to get damage in before they stand up again. This makes it easier for ambushers to strike the head or eyes.
Other information
Krag Dwellers can collapse into a dangerous boulder and roll around.
The krag dweller's eyes sparkle with evil intent as it collapses into a boulder-shaped ball and begins rolling erratically across the ground! [SMR result: -69 (Open d100: 7)] With great poise and balance, you leap at just the right moment to dodge the boulder as it careens recklessly by! The boulder comes to a sudden stop and rises into the form of a krag dweller!
Krag Dwellers natural armor is equivalent to plate with 15 CER of padding[1]
Behind the scenes
Krag dwellers were formerly level 16. In February 2008 they experienced an upward shift to their current level and were moved to their current location. For more information on the updates, please see the following saved posts:
