The bog spectre's misty form fades to a faint silhouette at times, the outlines of its form barely visible against its surroundings. Two malevolent eyes stare out from under its deeply hooded robe, each illuminated by an unholy crimson glow. Its thin, lanky arms end in unnaturally long taloned fingers, the semi-translucent claws still holding a twinge of glistening red on their surface. The creature is completely silent, its flickering form stalking with surprising speed and grace as it traverses the bog.
Hunting strategies
For characters that cast from guarded, it is a good idea to kill any bog spectres during a swarm, as they the ability to leave you stunned and in an offensive stance on the ground. (Because their gaze is stance-based, swingers will have less trouble.) In addition, spectres can also knock characters down with Quake (709). If warrior shades are part of the swarm, their powerful attack and disarm skill can prove a deadly followup.
Other information
The bog spectre has the ability to stare at you, sometimes causing you to be stunned, in offensive stance, laying on the ground, and a loss of a few spirit and mana points. The more defensive a character's stance, the more likely this ability is to succeed.
A bog spectre's eyes flash a bright, ghostly blue as it stares deeply into your eyes! An explosion of intense pain fills your mind, and you reel, captured by the bog spectre's dreadful stare! You futilely try to scream as a tortuous wave ripples through your body, leaving you writhing as you collapse! You feel drained!
Bog spectres will decay very quickly when killed (approximately upon their next turn), making it tricky to obtain loot if you are under hard roundtime (i.e. from swinging a melee weapon). This may make hunting bog spectres more suitable for spellcasters, who primarily undergo Cast roundtime during battle.
