take notice of the (quality) detail contained within the (gem).

;Appearance
During the creation of the stone, a visual prompt of the stone's apparent quality is provided, as does a verb indicating the number of charges . As the stone is used, charges are consumed and the apparent quality will degrade. The maximum value of the transformable item does not change, however.

*Two charges remaining: "The uncut diamond turns in your hand."
*Three charges remaining: "The emerald spins in your hand."

;Quality:
Quality is based on the quality of the gem as APPRAISEd. Note that the spell will yield the true quality of the gem, which is independent of it's value. Skill in Trading or seeking a Bard to loresing the gem will indicate the quality prior to casting the spell. Quality affects both the value of converted slabs and the chance for success.

You carefully rub the surface of your uncut diamond over the silver wand. Emerald green sparks appear between
the diamond and the wand that soon cover the entire surface of the silver wand in an aquamarine mist. As the
aquamarine mist dissipates, you notice the coloring of the silver wand has changed to golden hue. Green
fractures quickly spread across your uncut diamond causing the diamond to shatter and evaporate in a puff of
jade smoke.

Using a Silver to Gem will raise the weight and value of a slab of silver, or convert a silver wand into a gold one, at the expense of a charge from the gem. When all the charges are used, as above, the gem will shatter. This process is not reversible.

Tier Two of Holy Receptacle creates what amounts to a "holy hand grenade", which attempts to set creatures aflame with ribbons of holy energy. While immolated, the creature will fall to the ground, incapacitated, while taking damage as it attempts to put out the flames.

You mutter a quick orison and the (gem) takes on a (strength) amber light.

;Appearance
The appearance of a Brimstone indicates the strength of the brimstone, which is based on the value of the stone used to create it. There are four tiers of strength:
*Soft - Produces a singular band of energy that can hit one critter.
*Warm - Produces a double-band of energy that will can up to two critters.
*Vivid - Produces a tri-banded energy ribbon that can hit up to three critters
*Dazzling - Produces a double-banded and a tri-banded ribbon that can hit up to 5 critters.

Once hit, a creature will continue to burn until the flames go out or the creature dies. While burning, the critter will remain stunned and prone.

Damage done is based on several factors, including (but not limited to) level of the character TOSSing, the creature effected, and the value of the gem. Successfully hitting the creature is based on opposing levels, as well as the cleric's skill in Spiritual Lore, Summoning.

Nexus gems act very similarly to gold rings, with a few major difference. First, successful operation is not assured, but is rather based on the power of the gem in question. Second, failure of a Nexus gem results in the cleric being left in the same location, not being accosted by the Chronomages. Third, the cleric can take his group along when activating the Nexus. Finally, attunement to a given location is not per gem, but to the Cleric as a whole; thus, if one gem fails, the cleric may simply make another and return as if the first had succeeded.

You begin chanting an intricate benediction ... suddenly all light in the area blinks out of existence
and you can see nothing in the empty blackness that now consumes you. Your attention is suddenly drawn
to the emerald as it floats up from your hand and hangs silently in the air in stark contrast to the
ebony darkness surrounding you.

The emerald begins to fly around in a small circular pattern that seems to pick up speed with every pass
by you. Soon the emerald is nothing more than a blur of movement. This vortex of movement begins to
pull at the darkness surrounding it, quickly absorbing the blackness that once dulled your senses. The
emerald drops into your hand and you notice the environment around you is seemingly unchanged by the
events you have just beheld.

After creating the Nexus gem, LOOKing at it will let the cleric know the strength of the stone, which is directly tied to how likely the stone is to successfully activate.

Usage
Use of a Nexus gem is a two-part process, much like using a gold ring. First, one must attune oneself to a location by TAPping any Nexus gem, which attunes the cleric to their current location. TAPping the same or another Nexus gem in a different location will reattune the cleric to the nex locale.

;Syntax - tap (gem)

You peer closely at your thunderstone as you tap its surface. You notice the black clouds contained
within the opalescent thunderstone eddy and swirl around. You suddenly get the feeling of a great
weight placed upon your soul.

After attuning themselves, the cleric may attempt to transport themselves and their group to the attuned location by RUBbing a Nexus gem. The chance for success of this is based upon the current power of the gem and the presence of hostile creatures. The power of the gem is initially based on the value of the stone used and the Spiritual Lore, Summoning ranks of the cleric that created the stone, and is reduced as the stone is used. The amount the strength of the Nexus gem is reduced is based upon the number of people transported.

of merchants, artisans, and clerics pass through the arch in both directions. You also see an old barrel

With the proper tithe secured, the pilgrim has only to travel to a room consecrated to the Arkati or spirit they wish to convert to. It is important to note that some rooms are consecrated to more than one deity, and to avoid jealousy amongst the gods, these areas are not usable. To check if a room is holy, have a Cleric or Paladin SENSE for divine influences in the area. The coffer becomes luminous, growing far too brilliant to gaze upon. Abruptly, the light fades, taking
your offering with it, but you find a rich golden topaz crown talisman has been left in its place.

Each deity will give a different feel upon conversion, as well as a different token to mark the occasion. The cleric that attended to the conversion recieves experience equal to the level of the newly-converted character times 10.

Holy Receptacle is a very versatile spell, allowing the Cleric to create a magical item of varying sorts. At it's base, the spell functions similarly to the Minor Elemental spell Magic Item Creation (420), but uses orb gems instead of wands, amulets, and other blank magical objects.

With training in the various Spiritual Lores, a cleric casting this spell can bring about up to five additional effects, based on tiered increases in lore training. These tiers are:

Spell Imbedding

Upon initially recieving the spell, the cleric will be able to bless most spells known to them into the gem, storing them away for later use at a mana cost equal to the amount of mana placed into the gem. Gems possess a maximum amount of mana that they can hold, based upon the quality of the stone.

Syntax - BLESS (Spell Number) IN (gem) USING (Activator) FOR (Number of Charges Desired) CHARGES
 • Spell Number is the number of the spell, comprising spell circle and level. For example, Spirit Barrier is 102.
 • Activator is any one of the following: RAISE, RUB, TAP, and WAVE. Only WAVE will allow the blessed spell to be targetable. See the article on Magic Item Use to see how each of these choices will effect duration and activation.
 • Number of charges determines the maximum charges that can be stored inside. If this number is greater than the amount of charges the gem can hold, it will automatically default to the maximum charges.

Mana cost is 25 mana for the spell, plus an additional (number of charges placed) x (spell level of the spell being blessed). For example, placing 18 charges of Prayer of Holding (301) would cost:

25 mana for casting the spell + (18 charges x 1 mana/charge) = 43 mana.

If necessary, the cleric can wait between casting the spell to establish the link and blessing in the charges, if they need to regain mana. As long as the tether remains, the gem can still be blessed, by this power or any tier available to the cleric.

Upon creation of the item, the cleric recieves a small amount of experience for the small miraculous act.

Tier 1: Silver to Gold

The first tier of Holy Receptacle, a gem thus blessed can be used to transform an object made of silver into a similar object made of gold. At this point, only the silver slabs created by blowing up boxes via Call Lightning (125) and silver wands containing Minor Shock (901) can be transmuted, yielding either a more-valuable slab of gold, or a golden wand containing the spell Minor Fire (906).

A gem thus blessed is usable by anyone the cleric may give the gem to, although the gem will not work if the slab or wand in question is more valuable than the stone was to begin with.

In order to make a Silver to Gold gem, the cleric must have:

See the page on the First Tier for more information.

Tier 2: Brimstone

Tier Two of Holy Receptacle creates what amounts to a "holy hand grenade", which attempts to set creatures aflame with ribbons of holy energy. There is an initial wave of damage to all creatures hit, after which they are subject to an immolation effect. While immolated, the creature will fall to the ground, incapacitated, while taking damage as it attempts to put out the flames.

To create a Brimstone, a cleric must have:

Any character can use a Brimstone once created.

See the page on the Second Tier for more information.

Tier 3: Nexus

Nexus gems act very similarly to gold rings, with a few major difference. First, successful operation is not assured, but is rather based on the power of the gem in question. Second, failure of a Nexus gem results in the cleric being left in the same location, not being accosted by the Chronomages. Third, the cleric can take his group along when activating the Nexus. Finally, attunement to a given location is not per gem, but to the Cleric as a whole; thus, if one gem fails, the cleric may simply make another and return as if the first had succeeded.

To create a Nexus gem, a cleric must have:

Nexus gems are usable only by clerics, but any cleric can use one once created.

See the page on the Third Tier for more information.

Tier 4: Chrism

The Chrism gem allows a cleric to help an individual find greater peace, whether to aid them in recuperation following death (removing some amount of Death's Sting based on the strength of the Chrism gem and speeding the return of health, mana, and spirit) or for a troubled soul in general (allows a character of any [[profession[]] to meditate as a Cleric or Empath). Highly sought after in invasions, Chrism gems are often considered to represent the pinnacle of a Cleric's lore training.

To create a Chrism gem, a cleric must have:

Chrism gems can only be used by clerics, but may be used by any cleric once created.

See the page on the Fourth Tier for more information.

Tier 5: Intercession

Through the usage of the final tier of Holy Receptacle, a cleric is able to Intercede on behalf of another character, allowing them the opportunity to seek a new path of worship. From a mechanical standpoint, this Tier represents the only IC means of changing CONVERT status.

To create an Intercession gem, a cleric must have:

See the page on the Fifth Tier for more information.

Diety-Specific Blessings

While not currently a "live" feature of the spell, provisions exist for blessings specific to individual deities. This is a work in progress on the part of the development team, and not anticipated in the near future due to the rather daunting number of deities that would need unique blessings.
