Skin a vesperti claw
Other None

The vesperti stands roughly six feet tall, with coarse black fur covering his willowy frame. A veined membrane of skin extends from his ankle up to his wrists, edges scalloped like those of a bat's wings. Capping off the wings are taloned hands and feet, the long, tapered digits bearing glossy black claws. Intense eyes stare out from beneath a mane of tousled hair, looking far too sentient for any measure of comfort.

Other information

Vesperti are a cross between a bat and an elf, created by followers of the Arkati, Fash'lo'nae. "Vesperti" is probably derived from the Latin word "vespertilio," which means "bat." "Vespertilio," in its turn, is derived from the Latin word "vesper," meaning "evening" or "the West."

Vesperti can be found in the Deep Woods in the Foggy Valley near Solhaven. The same "vision" is repeated throughout the area in general.

Vesperti use three weapons -- a whip, a flail, and a scimitar with a shield. In the hands of the vesperti, any weapon drains mana from the character or creature struck, which is a warding roll. The mana drain takes place even in rooms that do not allow the use of any magic, which are abundant in the Deep Woods.

Vesperti are unaffected by most magic. They will cast Curse which will cause you to drop what is in your hands (weapons, shields) and scratch. They will pick up dropped items.

A vesperti points a clawed finger at you!

  Warding failed!
A thread of swirling gray magic issues forth from the vesperti toward you. It coils itself around your body, whirling malevolently before disappearing within you. You shiver slightly as an invisible rash covers your body! A feeling of defenselessness washes over you!

When they kill you they laugh insanely, referencing their original lore in the ruined temple:

The vesperti spreads her arms wide and throws her head back, shrilling a high-pitched howl of triumph!

A vesperti moves towards you then jumps back, laughing maniacally.

A vesperti snarls, "Die will we not, not to man, not to priest, not to any."

A vesperti sneers down at you, then rolls you over with her foot.
