When safe in the confines of its underground home, the cave lizard is easily mistaken for just another rock on the floor, albeit a rather long, thick rock. Its low-slung body and stubby legs allow it to squeeze through cracks that would defy attempts by the smaller humanoid races. A mottled, scaly hide of charcoal grey intermixed with deep crimson helps it hide in low light conditions. Bright light reveals not only the more scintillating aspects of its crimson coloration but rows of razor-sharp teeth set in a protruding snout. One should not fixate on the snout, though, lest the powerful tail of the cave lizard land a devastating blow.
Hunting strategies
Assuming a hunter in question has the DS necessary to be safe from the cave lizards attacks, there is little likelihood that they will pose much of a threat. The only particular quirk to cave lizards is their use of the standard lizard creature's tail sweep. They use this often, and if successful, can immediately follow up with an AS attack. This will prone the victim, and can cause up to 20 RT, but it can also cause as little as 3 RT, and is often easily avoided, even by pures. Most of the danger from this ability arises when the lizard is accompanied by other lizards or giant veabas, as usually the single lizard cannot do any significant damage during the RT caused by the maneuver.
A cave lizard lashes its tail out at your legs with lightning speed! The tail slaps you just beneath the knees sending you crashing to the ground! Roundtime: 17 sec.
For the younger aged sorcerer, cave lizards are effectively dealt with by merely casting Blood Burst (701) a few times and leaving it while you pursue other foes, or more directly with Mana Disruption (702).
Other information
Cave Lizards, on rare occasions, drop gems, the only form of treasure in the Czeroth Caverns aside from skins.
