  4. Place the tea leaves inside the tea infuser. This must be done directly, by removing the grounds from their packet, tin, or canister, and then PUTing the "tea leaves" item into the tea infuser, which measures out exactly one dose.
  5. Once the kettle has reached a rolling boil, PUT the tea infuser into the kettle. If the infuser has not yet been closed beforehand, this step will automatically close it, too.
    Note: Tea leaves inside an infuser can be added to the kettle and water at any point prior to boiling, including before the heat source is lit. However, it will not begin actually brewing until the water has reached a rolling boil. Shortly afterward, the clear liquid (water) inside will begin to turn the color of the tea.
  6. Let the kettle continue the brewing process. You can LOOK IN the kettle to observe how intense the tea is. See the brewing intensity and timing section for more information on how to determine that your tea is done.
    Note: Once the kettle has reached a rolling boil, it can be removed entirely from the heat source and it will still continue the brewing process uninterrupted. If the heat source goes out, it does not need to be re-lit so long as the kettle has already been heated to a rolling boil beforehand.
  7. Once the tea has been brewed to the desired intensity, GET the infuser out of it to set that intensity for the entire contents of the kettle. The tea leaves will not continue to steep after pouring a cup.
  8. Simply POUR the kettle's contents into any appropriate drink container, such as a mug or teacup.
  9. If desired, coffee and tea flavorings can be added to the drink container after the beverage has been poured into it. This will append the tea's flavor messaging with the flavoring additive.

Brewing Intensity and Timing

Unbrewed water is clear. A brewed beverage will have a color according to that specific beverage as well as an intensity description. The intensity of the liquid can progresses from pale to murky to or rich until it no longer displays any intensity adjective.

Within seconds of reaching a rolling boil state, any tea leaves or coffee grounds added to a kettle will turn the clear liquid (water) inside to the color according to the bevereage being brewed. It will initially appear as "some pale (color) liquid".

Approximately 1 minute later, the liquid will transition from pale to appear as "some murky (color) liquid".

Approximately 1 more minute later, the liquid will transition from murky to appear as "some rich (color) liquid".

Approximately 2 more minutes later, the liquid will drop the rich adjetive and appear as just "some (color) liquid".

The final beverage's strength appends the tea or coffee's flavor messaging:

  • The tea/coffee is weak.
  • The tea/coffee is a bit weak.
  • The tea/coffee is just right.
  • The tea/coffee is a bit strong.
  • The tea/coffee is very strong.

If the desired outcome is "just right", waiting 3 minutes after the brewing process begins (and the water in the kettle changes from "clear" to "pale (color)") will consistently produce this result. If a timer is not readily available, waiting an extra minute (when the water changes from "rich (color)" to no longer having any adjective) will also consistently produce this result, however care should be taken as it will quickly shift toward "strong" if not poured immediately.

If using a tea infuser, this is the point where the infuser should be removed to lock in the "just right" quality.
