Speaking to Xorus, Maylan asks, "Are you going to stock some absinthe in your office if elected?" Xorus nods at Maylan. Speaking to Maylan, Xorus says, "All the absinthe you can swallow." Speaking to Xorus, Maylan says, "Challenge accepted." Xorus says, "Or ingest by any other means." Speaking to Maylan, Xanthium says, "See, no more shoe polish for you." Speaking to Maylan, Xanthium says, "Or paint thinner." Xanthium nods slowly at Maylan. Speaking to Xanthium, Maylan says, "Shoe polish isn't so bad." Lylia says, "As we are awaiting the lovely Soliere's arrival, perhaps I could offer a bit of an introduction, although I do not think he needs one." Lylia smiles at Xorus. Xorus says, "Mm." Xorus takes a drink from his Faendryl absinthe. Evyl quips, "Who is that masked man." Evyl shifts his eyes to Xorus. Lylia continues, "It has been my pleasure to work with Lord Xorus Kul'shin as my campaign advisor and later, as my chief advisor throughout both my terms." Lylia says, "When we fought and conquered at Glaoveln, he was there." Lylia exhales the last of a virulent green mist. Lylia says, "When the young Lady Larsya of Bourth was cruelly afflicted, he was instrumental in her cure." Lylia says, "He has played a role in more history than I have read about in books." Xorus says, "It was just like that, you know. Praxopius had his last breath, and suddenly virulent green mist arose from pillars on the beach." Lylia clears her throat. Lylia insists, "It is an illusion, you know." Shadows dance between Lylia's outstretched fingers as she issues a command in archaic Faendryl. Lylia gestures. A cankerous ripple of vesicles temporarily disfigures Lylia's face and travels down her body, leaving a sickly green miasma as it disappears. Lylia says, "I am proud to endorse him as my successor and honored to know him." Lylia simply says, "It would be wise to vote for Xorus." Lylia turns to face Xorus. An agitated marbled white imp jumps over a silver and pearwood tray. Lylia applauds. Xorus tilts his head up. Katara recites: "Huzzah to Lord Xorus as our guest here at Silvergate!" (varied applause and toasting) Juspera lackadaisically applauds, but does not appear sincere. The bone white serpent hisses at Juspera. Speaking to Lylia, Xorus asks, "Was that the election, then?" Lylia says, "No." Lylia says, "You still have to go through some debates. Take questions." Xorus nods slowly. Katara recites: "Lord Xorus, do honor us with a few words to the crowd" Xorus says, "What Lylia spoke of was quite intimately related." Xorus says, "Without my work on curing the heiress of Bourth, Praxopius would not have been able to weaponize it against the krolving." Xorus clears his throat. Xorus says, "Krolvin." Xorus says, "Or assassinate Rysus with it." Xorus says, "Such is the web of greatness I would cast for the Landing." Strands of translucent webbing flow across the back of Xorus's hands... Speaking to herself, Maylan says, "I like nets." Maylan says, "They are superior to webs." Speaking to Maylan, Xorus says, "Fish nets for all." Katara recites: "As Lady of the Manor I happily pass hosting duties to Lady Soliere tonight, one of our esteemed officers" Xorus says, "There are many fish nets in Shantytown." Speaking to Katara, Soliere says, "Thank ya so kindly." Xorus says, "... being next to the docks." Xorus says, "Docks which were made rich with shipbuilding with our alliance with Praxopius and the lords of Idolone." Lylia adds, "An alliance you were instrumental in securing." Xorus says, "Indeed." Xorus says, "His protege had threatened to murder me, but life is too long to hold petty grudges." Xanthium chuckles. Xorus glances at Lylia. Lylia nods to Xorus. Lylia asks, "Does anyone have any questions? Concerns?" Juspera raises her hand. Lylia nods at Juspera. Xanthium raises her hand. Shinann raises her hand. Juspera says, "Okay what are you going to do about pickers being arrested in the tower for setting off traps because we're doing a very important service." Juspera takes a deep breath. Evyl says, "Larton doesn't get arrested." Xanthium nods at Evyl. Xanthium says, "That's true." Xorus says, "What use is life if it is not lived dangerously? Surely that can be no crime." Juspera stares at Xorus. Thrassus says, "That's because he doesn't set off traps." Juspera asks, "What?" Speaking to Evyl, Melikor says, "Larton doesn't set off traps." Melikor says, "Well, that I've seen, anyhow." Evyl asks, "You don't think that ex-wife of his isn't a trap?" Evyl makes a flicking motion with his hand. Juspera laughs! Juspera clasps her hand over her mouth. Melikor looks thoughtful for a moment, then shrugs. Xorus says, "Public endangerment should certainly be waived in such situations." Evyl says, "The derision of your fellow lockpickers is punishment enough, really." Xorus says, "The next was, I believe, Xanthium." Speaking to Xorus, Xanthium asks, "Do you have an economic plan for the longstanding issue of this frontier's Shantytown, by chance?" Xanthium smiles at Xorus. Xanthium says, "And thank you for letting me ask, of course." Speaking to Xanthium, Soliere says, "A good question." Xorus says, "I am given to understand that it is infeasible to make poverty illegal and banish all those who refuse to comply." Xorus says, "As such, I will have to find work for them, similar to when we built the imperial ships." Xanthium chuckles. Yukito raises an eyebrow. Melikor nods slowly. Berkana smiles amusedly. Xanthium nods to you. Xanthium smiles. Juspera wrinkles her nose. Xorus says, "What is truly needed is far more robust banking. Lending, credit. Interest." Berkana exclaims, "Barter!" Xorus says, "The town council would need to be.. convinced... to make better use of the treasury." Lylia grins slowly at Xorus. Speaking to Xorus, Xanthium asks, "Would many of those people be able to enter into loan terms, as such?" Speaking to Xanthium, you say, "They would need to acquire legal title to the land they are squa.. residing upon... folding into the tax base, and in turn thereby possessing collateral." Xanthium nods slowly to Xorus. Xanthium says, "Establishing property would start to solve some of the wealth inequity, yes." Lylia says, "A path toward wealth and self-sufficiency, then." Lylia nods. Soliere nods slowly. Evyl remarks, "Doesn't that truly begin with education?" Evyl raises an eyebrow. Xorus distantly says, "They would then be responsible for managing their debts." Xanthium smiles at Xorus. Speaking to Xorus, Xanthium says, "Thank you, Professor." Xorus says, "Book learning is a fine thing." Xorus takes a drink from his Faendryl absinthe. Soliere grins. Lylia raises her hand. Xorus says, "Captain Shinann, I believe, was next." Soliere agrees with Xorus. Shinann says, "Since you were Mayor Rashere's main advisor, what major differences can we expect from her time in office, if you become mayor? If that makes sense..." Soliere smiles at Shinann. Lylia raises her voice in merry laughter. Xorus nods slowly. Lylia cries, "I was going to ask that!" Soliere chuckles. Shinann begins chuckling at Lylia! Xorus asks, "Kissing hands and shaking babies is not my strong suit. Is that how that phrase goes?" Lylia leans over and whispers something to Xorus. Xorus says, "I will be more aloof in some respects, in any event." Xorus says, "The situation with our foreign relations has shifted in the past few years." Xorus says, "While we had attempted to secure 'independence', which is to say sovereignty, the town council has repeatedly capitulated to the empire." Xorus says, "I will have to work within these newer realities." Xorus says, "Lylia will, of course, assist me in the..." Xorus glances at Lylia. Lylia smiles. Soliere raises an eyebrow. Xorus says, ".. shaking hands, things." Lylia suggests, "Diplomatic arts?" Soliere grins at Lylia. Xorus nods at Lylia. Xorus says, "We are of like mind in much. My interest, if you will, is in centralizing regional power on this town." Xorus says, "Formalizing it. Making it permanent." Xorus says, "There is no guarantee that some other settlement might not grow or be founded and in some decades be favored by Tamzyrr." Shinann says, "Nothing is guaranteed. Thank you." Xorus nods. Xorus says, "Whatever independence is possible will only come from holding central authority over the whole of Darkstone Bay." Lylia says, "I suppose I shall ask a question anyway, even if Captain Shinann has stolen some of my thunder...that is, if she feels you have answered fully." Speaking to Lylia, Shinann says, "I am done." Speaking to Xorus, Lylia says, "What is it that you bring that you did not see in previous mayors? And yes, this is a dangerous question -- but I am fine with an equally dangerous answer." Lylia grins at Xorus. Soliere quietly says, "Welcomes all.. make yerselves at home, guests." Soliere smiles happily. Lylia offhandedly remarks, "There is campaign literature in the basket. Cards, vellum sheets." Speaking to Lylia, Xorus says, "When I was a bit older than you are now, I watched Selantha Anodheles break the Kannalan Alliance, and saw Gor'nustre razed to the ground." Xorus idly says, "Accusations of 'black elven wizardry' notwithstanding." Guarrin raises an eyebrow. Xanthium stares at Xorus. Lylia smiles at Xorus. Elbromo's jaw drops. Speaking to Xorus, Xanthium says, "But you're a sorcerer. That's even bad vocabulary, much less boring conjecture." Xanthium says, "Not that there's anything wrong with dark elven wizards." Xanthium gives Thrassus a lingering kiss on the cheek. Xorus says, "... and so I was there when Emperor Chaston formalized the prevailing sentiment in his edict. I have watched dynasties rise and fall, Toullaire become a wasteland, the Kingdom of Hendor become the Broken Kingdom, all three elven wars." Xorus says, "In other words I know the intrigues of royal courts and the rise and fall of powers." Xorus says, "With this ancient experience I will bring a kind of wisdom." Xorus takes a drink from his Faendryl absinthe. Lylia says, "Thank you, Xorus. It is why I chose you as my advisor. You have played a role in more history than I have ever learned." Lylia apologetically says, "It seems I brought the wrong campaign literature. This is not written in the Common script." Lylia grabs a scarlet-edged ashen parchment card from inside her cutwork leather satchel. Lylia carefully places a scarlet-edged ashen parchment card on the floor. Lylia asks, "Any further questions?" Yukito raises his hand. Yukito signals, "Could the literature be translated?" Yukito glances at a small wicker basket. Xorus says, "The human dialects have always changed so rapidly. If one studies closely enough the relation between Kannalan, Tehir, and imperial standard is clear." Yukito signals, "So we all can understand it for this meeting?" >read card The page, written in Common, reads as follows: "Keep Your Children Safe. Vote Xorus." Below the stark block letters at the top of the page is a disturbing image of leprous, emaciated children, their clothing hanging off them in rags. The artist has taken the time to detail their misery meticulously, from their scabrous and withered limbs to their distended bellies. Their eyes are huge and hollow, all but begging the viewer to do something. The bottom of the page bears a three-lobed burning eye. >read vellum The page, written in Common, reads as follows: "Our Lord Is the Dreadlord" Below the elegant calligraphy at the top of the page is an inked image of a gaunt figure in black riding a rearing nightmare steed. The animal's flowing mane obscures the rider's left hand, but his right is raised and pointing ahead in an unmistakable gesture of command. The stones on which the horse stands look suspiciously like the engraved blood marble that made up the altar at the Great Temple of Talador. Xorus, "These ones are not the obscure dialects." Lylia says, "No, the ones in the basket are." >look in basket In the wicker basket: Special [3]: a sheet of fine silvery grey vellum (2), a fine silvered linen card Total items: 3 Xorus says, "Ah, yes." Xorus says, "They are identical. In so far as 'dark elven' glyphs can be translated into common." Yukito nods to Xorus. Yukito signals, "How do you interpret them?" Xorus says, "They are the same as the ones in common on the floor." Yukito nods. Lylia picks up a small wicker basket. Yukito signals, "That was all I wanted to know then. Thank you." Shiril asks, "Did I entirely miss all of the questions?" Speaking to Shiril, Soliere exclaims, "Mehopes not!" Speaking to Shiril, you say, "That remains to be seen. Notwithstanding that one." Yukito signals, "My questions were answered. Thank you." Guarrin raises his hand. Elbromo raises his hand. Xorus glances at Soliere. Xorus says, "I am told Guarrin is next." Speaking deeply to Xorus, Guarrin says, "The Captain asked what I was most interested in, but to follow up on a related topic. What, if any, are your plans to improve the local defenses....given their current condition." Xorus says, "These things are always matters of funding, and it is no small irony that the state of much of it is the fault of Grand Magister Octaven, the very same who provided the golems we now have in town." Xorus says, "In time I would hope to secure a kind of recognition from the Northern Sentinel, letters patent if you will, such that all raw resources transported from this region are owed to ourselves a percentage even without passing through our port." Xorus says, "It is with greatly expanded revenue that we may develop military strength." Speaking deeply to Xorus, Guarrin asks, "And your priority for such spending?" Xorus says, "Stone walls would be ideal. But I would have them built much further out than the present ones so as to not strangle the town." Xorus says, "Walls, ships, towers, perhaps pylons. I would like to reach some accord with Ta'Faendryl with respect to wards against the major demonic." Xorus says, "I believe Elbromo is next." Elbromo says, "Thank you." Elbromo smiles. Elbromo says, "Sorry to be late." Soliere smiles at Elbromo. Soliere says, "No worries, Elbromo.. better late than ne'er at all." (Shinann absentmindedly fans herself with her card.) Shinann glances at a scarlet-edged ashen parchment card. Elbromo asks, "I just caught the last part of your experience Xorus it makes me wonder...why the Landing..why your interest here?" Xorus smiles slightly. Xorus says, "This is the focal point, the.. central ganglion, if you will... of world history, in these times." Xorus says, "The center of weight of history shifts through the centuries." Xorus says, "What matters in recent decades is here. Now." Elbromo nods. Elbromo asks, "May I ask follow up?" Xorus nods at Elbromo. Elbromo says, "I think you may have already answered it prior..thank you." Elbromo nods to Xorus. Elbromo says, "Thats all." Xorus nods. Soliere looks thoughtfully at Elbromo. Soliere nods. Maylan blurts, "It's Maylan's turn!" Shinann grins at Maylan. Xanthium laughs softly, trying to hide her amusement. Lylia looks like she was about to say something to Maylan, but she hesitates, obviously having changed her mind. Maylan clears her throat. Speaking to Xorus, Maylan asks, "If Pylasar is captured one of these days, after this farce of a trial occurs...will you help me spring him from Time Jail?" Juspera blinks. Elbromo laughs! A pale-faced coppery barn owl swivels his head around, suddenly sharp-eyed and intent. Thrassus acts puzzled. Thrassus asks, "Time... jail?" Xorus says, "Why, I would never defy the Hall of Mages in this way, that would be illegal." Xorus winks at Maylan. Maylan works her fingers under her ivory knit hat and scratches her head. Lylia grins slowly at Xorus. Speaking to Maylan, Khirad asks, "If he is captured one of these days, won't he no longer be lost in time?" Maylan says, "I dont know if he is lost or hiding! But it's good he's far away." Speaking confusedly to Xorus, Maylan says, "So that is a no." Xorus says, "He is in one of the most difficult of all places for them to reach him." Xorus leans over and whispers something to Maylan. Maylan nods to Xorus. Speaking to Xorus, Maylan says, "OKAY we will abandon him to his fate." Maylan winks at Xorus. Maylan winks at Xorus. Maylan winks at Xorus. Maylan winks at Xorus. Maylan glances around the room. Maylan winks at Xorus. Soliere flashes a wide grin. Xorus says, "Indeed. He is guilty of the highest crimes." Xorus examines his fingernails. Shinann frowns. Khirad raises his hand. Soliere nods at Khirad. Xorus nods at Soliere. Soliere says, "Redpaw woud like me ta pose a question on 'is behalf... which is..." Speaking to Xorus, Soliere asks, "Redpaw woud like ta know bout shops in town... say it woud be nice ta have more of em... how woud ya encourage entrepreneurship?" Soliere smiles at Redpaw. With his mouth agape, Redpaw executes a slow, exaggerated wink at Soliere and then rolls his eyes dramatically. Xorus says, "What is needed above all is reform of the banks. Ledgers of credit, that is what drives enterprise, ultimately." Xorus says, "Of course. One can only provide the water, the horses must be willing to take it." Xorus says, "The greatest impediment to.. development, commerce... in this place is the murderous pirates of Glaoveln." Lylia gazes with interest at Xorus. Shiril raises an eyebrow at Xorus. Xorus says, "When Praxopius' notes are finally delivered to me, I will see about adapting this weapon to utterly eradicate them." Shiril laughs! Shiril coughs. Akenna raises her hand. Lylia nods emphatically to Xorus! Guarrin raises an eyebrow. Xorus takes a drink from his Faendryl absinthe. Speaking to Xorus, Soliere says, "Redpaw is satisfied with yer response an' finished askin question fer now.. thank ya kindly." Xorus nods at Soliere. Soliere smiles. Xorus says, "Then the next is... Khirad." Speaking to Xorus, Khirad says, "How will you deal with the human empire, if elected? And what will you tell the...zealots...who frequently forget that we are a frontier town and, as yet, a rival empire? I do not expect you to reveal your plans. That would be...inefficient and premature. But I would like to see the shape under the sheet, if you will." Soliere looks thoughtfully at Khirad. Lylia murmurs, "The shape under the sheet...what an elegant turn of phrase." Juspera nods slowly. Lylia gazes with interest at Khirad. Shiril nods at Lylia. Khirad turns an inquisitive ear toward Xorus. Xorus says, "Ah, so. The small questions." Xorus chuckles. Xorus says, "This will take a moment to explain." Lylia grins at you. Soliere grins at Xorus. Lylia says, "There is a great deal to that question, yes." Xorus says, "In the present situation we have delayed any more aggressive expansion in the form of annexation, as the Vaalor now holding sovereign lands on the edge of Talador poses a risk of conflict that would endanger the Valley of Gold entente with the Illistim." Xorus says, "The Vaalor military alliance with the Illistim is stronger and would effectively negate it if some hostilities arose." Xorus says, "That being said, the town council would not cooperate with us on the full letter of Lord Chamberlain Retassal's demands, and so it was the Empire that gave the elven settlement to the Elven Nations." Lylia settles into a swing chair. She gives it a slight push, and it begins to sway in a relaxing rhythm. Lylia leans forward and rests her chin in her hand, a thoughtful expression on her face. Xorus says, "... and so, in effect, capitulated to the notion that this region is an imperial protectorate of the Turamzzyrian Empire. Of Tamzyrr specifically, under the purview of Earl Jovery." Khirad nods slowly to Xorus. Xorus says, "Earl Jovery on the whole remains a soft touch with us, and so I will attempt to acquire recognition of Wehnimer's Landing as the capital of this protectorate around Darkstone Bay." Xorus says, "So that we are owed revenue off all resources from the region, such that the northern baronies may not freely plunder it." Khirad smiles. Thrassus nods to Xorus. Elbromo raises an eyebrow. Soliere raises her hand. Akenna raises her hand. Thrassus says, "It's hard telling how much potential revenue the town has missed out on." Thrassus leans on his staff. Akenna frowns. Xorus says, "In a few decades hence there may be no Northern Sentinel at all, and for that matter, the Argent Mirror has ruled for nearly two hundred and fifty years and may be forced out by the Council of Thrones by then as well." Elbromo blinks. Akenna raises an eyebrow. Xorus says, "The situation may be entirely different by 5150, and we should be as far strengthened as possible for the opportunities." Khirad says, "Gving the town the opportunity to build more political and financial power for years to come. Practical. My thanks, Professor Xorus." Xorus nod slowly. Speaking to Xorus, Soliere says, "Redpaw woud like ta hear a lil mer about Earl Jovery, if ya woud not mind..." Soliere says, "I as well, was not familiar wi'that one." Soliere blushes a nice shade of rosy pink. Xorus says, "Earl Jovery of North Hendor is the Northern Sentinel of the Turamzzyrian Empire. He has overlord power over the northern imperial territories." Xorus says, "As such, when they treat this town as an 'imperial protectorate', a dependent territory or dominion, it is coming in the form of royal decrees from the Earl." Xorus says, "He was the one who had the Hendoran outpost built outside the town. He appointed Cordarius as the Regional Envoy on our town council." Akenna looks lost in thought. Speaking to Xorus, Soliere says, "Thank ya so kindly." Soliere smiles. Xorus says, "Without other foreign powers recognizing and supporting our sovereignty, and lacking the might to repel such imperial claims, we might as well play along until more auspicious conditions." Xorus nods at Soliere. Xorus says, "... and Akenna is next." Elbromo says, "Such a shape under them sheets." Akenna nods once. Speaking to Xorus, Akenna says, "My question is along the same vein but more to do with the Elven Nations. Will you repair some of the ties between the houses and the frontier, for instance, House Illistim and of course House Vaalor? They are rather large influences in the Nations. I'm merely curious if you will seek out and if not, perhaps be open to the trade and ties of goodwill with them? Though now, I'm hesitant to ask as you seem to think in centuries and not months..." Akenna raises an eyebrow. Xorus says, "I was the strongest advocate of cooperating with House Vaalor in its demands for recompense over past ill will." Lylia adds, "He was. I relied on his advice before my meeting with Lord Chamberlain Retassal." Xorus says, "The trick of it is that.. ah, how do I put this..." Xorus says, "... protectorates are not sovereign, and thus do not conduct their own foreign policy. That is precisely why Earl Jovery appointed a member of the Hall of Mages to act as our foreign ambassador." Xorus says, "While I might endeavor to foster some good will, if I might encounter the Sovereign Commander instead of being mediated through the Lord Chamberlain, or the Mirror if she is more disposed to be amenable than she was several years ago..." Xorus says, "... truly, I would have to act around our own town council, perhaps foment situations for them." Xorus smiles slightly. Akenna nods cheerfully to you. Speaking to Xorus, Akenna says, "Thank you." Akenna smiles at Xorus. Soliere adopts an agreeable expression. Soliere asks, "Be there any other questions fer Xorus? show'a hands?" Speaking to Lylia, Soliere asks, "How we doin' on time, Mayor?" Lylia asks, "I believe that is up to Xorus and his audience, if there are no further questions...?" Xanthium says, "I should probably get to the Temple soon to prepare, but I do appreciate beign allowed to come and even ask questions." Lylia says, "It is wonderful to have representatives of other campaigns attending and asking questions in good faith." Soliere says, "Evryone." Soliere carefully places a glittering golden backpack on the floor. Soliere says, "I brung a wee gift from our house.. be sure ya get yer ebony sack from backpack here.. all ya... thank ya all fer comin." Lylia reminds, "Feel free to take a leafl -- I mean, a pamphlet. They are in the wicker basket." Lylia adds, "Or a card. Spread the message." Speaking to Xorus, Soliere says, "Thank you, Xorus... i've admired yer research fer many years.. an' apreciate ya comin out an' takin yer time here." Speaking to Lylia, Xanthium says, "I said so earlier, and I'll repeat, Professor Xorus has been an honorable candidate. It's almost a shame we have to choose. I hope it's not disloyal to Faerinn to say that I would not be terribly disappointed if Xorus is the victor." Speaking to Soliere, Xorus says, "Of course." Soliere says, "Oh Xorus! has a upcomin event..." Lylia removes a deep ebony sack from in a glittering golden backpack. Speaking to Lylia, Soliere asks, "Is it in yer literature?" Lylia put a deep ebony sack in her wrap. Speaking to Soliere, Lylia murmurs, "No, the literature is more...aspirational and inspirational than informative." Lylia continues, "But on the Night of the Huntress, on the thirteenth, the Order of the Shadow has a little something planned." Lylia says, "I would hate to spoil the surprise of it." Lylia touches one finger to her lips. Lylia smiles. Speaking to Soliere, Xanthium says, "Thank you again, hostess." Akenna asks, "It isn't in a temple, is it?" Xanthium laughs softly, trying to hide her amusement. Lylia says, "But shortly before Cordarius returns that evening, it will occur." Lylia says, "No, I do not believe so." Lylia grabs a black vruul skin button with a three-lobed burning eye reading, "Obey Xorus" from inside her cutwork leather satchel. Lylia asks, "Anyone need a button?" Lylia raises an eyebrow. Lylia says, "They are free...for now." Xorus darkly jokes, "Get them while it is still legal to not have them." Soliere recites: "Tonight at 11pm... there be a event where ya can support Xorus" Soliere recites: "Vipershroud's Temple of Ivas, Courtyard... so be there if yer able... it's soundin lotsa fun actualy... And" Soliere recites: "14th of Charlatos... here at Silvergate.. all candidates will compete in a Mayoral Triathlon... 8pm... in our Courtyard it begins" Soliere recites: "Last but not least..." Soliere recites: "Don't ferget the BIG Mayoral Debate at Moot Hall, on 14th after 11pm" Speaking to Lylia, Soliere asks, "Did ya tellem yet bout spa event?" Soliere raises an eyebrow in Lylia's direction. Soliere says, "I so sorrie i missed a lot of th'start.. but it be worth tellin again if so." Lylia says, "By all means, do. I have not yet mentioned it, and I really should be off to prepare for tonight." Soliere recites: "Spa Night with Lylia an' Xorus will be the 17th at 11:30pm, as far as we know, if no complications arises" Soliere says, "Thank ya again all.. be safe in yer journeys." Speaking to Xorus, Lylia says, "Yes, I suppose this might be a good time to talk with you about 'spa night'..." Xorus glances at Lylia. Xorus asks, ".. spatha, like a narrow gladius sword...?" Speaking to Xorus, Lylia says, "Should I steal you away for campaign preparation, or let you rest before the...no, 'spa.' It is a kind of self-care ritual. Oils and paints." Xorus says, "I am not understanding the distinction." Lylia says, "We shall talk on the way to the temple." |

Kothos says, "Good evening. Welcome to the Temple of Ivas, She who is Passion. I am Brother Kothos Blud, and I thank you all for coming to tonight's event. We, along with the Order of the Shadow, are hosting the three candidates for mayor in Wehnimer's Landing. Leafiara, Faerinn, and Xorus." Kothos says, "When Xanthium first brought up this idea, of bringing you all here...." He steps up to the water's edge, touching the surface with his staff's root, and pulls Xanthium's hand to his mouth for a brief kiss. "I was a little dubious. We are a small order, and have in recent years suffered some setbacks, during the Prelate's attack. However, thanks to some of the Landing citizens and their work, many of those repairs and dedications have been managed." Kothos says, "Her Temples have often been gathering spaces for discussion, debate, rhetoric- the issues of the day have freedom here, like they may not have elsewhere." He raises the glowback out of the water, and runs his hand across the damp surface, the droplets turning into wisps of steam as he speaks. They fall to the grass in ribbons, as his bright green eyes wander across the courtyard, meeting each of your faces in a curious gaze. "So with that, I express gratitude once more, for allowing us to take up that mantle again. To be where you can meet and understand those who wish your vote, for their visions." Kothos says, "And two last thanks for Lord Cruxophim and House Brigatta. The first for lending us the resources of the Order of Shadow to get out word of this event, and to Brigatta for contributing the delicious spirits, libations and and delicacies you see here. Please, enjoy your evening, which I now turn over to the candidates. May you all walk in Her Grace." (applause for Kothos) Kothos bows. Xanthium says, "We have no special format for tonight, but if the candidates would like a moment to introduce themselves.." Xanthium says, "Now would be a good time." Leafiara lightly asks, "Alphabetical order, or speaking over each other?" Leafiara chuckles. Xanthium ponders. Xanthium says, "Sure." Xanthium points at Faerinn. Xanthium says, "Grace comes first." Faerinn recites: "I'm Faerinn Greatsinger, ESQ, originally from Talador and Loenthra. I've been working as a barrister for the Mayor's office since the Walkar administration." Faerinn recites: "I came here as a refugee, and consinder the Landing as a home as its the only place that has yet to delcare me dead." Faerinn recites: "Or try to put me in the ground for who I am not what I do." Xanthium says, "Leafiara, it's your turn." Leafiara nods. Xanthium points at Leafiara. Leafiara greets, "I'm Leafiara Autumnwind, your local cleric with a hand in just about all the happenings around here." Leafiara chuckles. Leafiara says, "From my role in the militia to an advisor for our former Mayor Cruxophim to a local reporter to a shop owner, most of you probably know me..." Leafiara says, "But for those who don't, you can consider me as having embraced the Landing, as it's transformed me from who I was when I moved here several years ago to who I am now." Leafiara says, "And I truly appreciate everything we are, from our Cryhearts to our Cruxophims and in between." Leafiara flashes a wide grin. Leafiara curtsies gracefully. Maylan says, "BURN IT ALL DOWN." Xanthium asks, "Professor Xorus?" Maylan applauds. Speaking to Maylan, Xanthium says, "The Prelate tried." Speaking mildly to Xanthium, Cruxophim remarks, "Not very well." Kothos says, "If not for Tolwynn and Traiva, we wouldn't even have Her image in the Sanctum." Kothos says, "As it was destroyed in the fire." Lylia says, "I remember. A sorrowful thing." Xorus says something in Faendryl you do not understand. Xorus clears his throat. Xorus says, "... I am Vice Chancellor Xorus Kul'shin, Emeritus of the Hazalred Thaumaturgical Institute of Ta'Faendryl, a specialist in esoteric and dangerous antiquities..." Speaking to Kothos, Xanthium asks, "Is your Faendryl sufficient to follow that before he translated?" Speaking in Faendryl to Xanthium, Kothos says something you do not understand. Kothos smirks at Xanthium. Xorus says, "I recall when these lands were merely the haunts of the 'dark sorcerous' forces that brought down the Wildwood settlement in the Cairnfang." Speaking to Kothos, Xanthium says, "...it's Kothos, still." Xanthium gives Kothos a series of teasing little prods along the spine. Xorus says, "When the gnolls of Cavernhold were the highest civilization residing permanently in the region." Xorus says, "Truly, there have been numerous settlements on the mouth of the Locksmehr River over the millennia, whether Vaalorian outposts such as the one next to us right now or dark theocracies." Kothos nods slowly to Xorus Xorus wryly says, "I welcome the full breadth of our heritage." Kothos says, "Those elves trade with us, here and there. Much of the paint used in the Sanctum came from them. A good red is hard to find." Leafiara grins at Xorus. Kothos says, "Now, that out of the way, welcome to all three candidates, their supporters, managers, and other guests." Speaking to herself, Maylan says, "I'm one of those." Lylia says, "I hope we shall all have a moment or two to ask a few questions, although in a setting such as this, it would be a terrible shame to treat it as an ordinary debate hall." Kothos says, "Please, feel free to ask questions, or bring up any issue you'd like to have addressed." Kothos says, "Also, eat the food,Mayor Lylia brought it all the way out here. In the swamp." Lylia adds, "It never touched the water." Lazaryth says, "I very much appreciate the champagne." Cryheart says, "In that case." Cryheart sniffs at his honey-sweetened tea. Lylia remarks, "This is the first time all three candidates have been in one place. I am sure conversation will be lively." Leafiara grins at Cryheart. Kothos chuckles. Maylan says, "So. Let's start the bidding on votes at 50000." (this spirals into high drama and much drama was to be had) Leafiara agreeably says, "We should have the question repeated and then decide the answer order." Akenna takes a slow, deep breath then pinches the bridge of her nose. Kothos asks, "Nehor just asked: Candidates, in what ways will you improve the artistic community in the Landing? Also, what importance do you place on such things such as community involvment and theater?" Nehor nods slowly. Nehor agrees, "Yes, that's it. But I said it in a more interesting way!" Akenna says, "You didn't." Kothos smirks at Nehor. Nehor stresses, "With inflection and nuance!" Leafiara gazes in amusement at her surroundings. Speaking to himself, Evyl commends, "Quite a bit of bad theatre right now." Nehor strikes a noble, proud pose, throwing his crimson velvet coatee back and staring off into the distance. Akenna flatly repeats, "You didn't." Kothos asks, "Leafiara, would you care to have first stab, to push the other topic a little further off?" Leafiara muses, "Works for me." Leafiara nods at Kothos. Speaking to Nehor, Leafiara says, "You asked specifically about community involvement in relationship to the arts..." Leafiara says, "In a more broad sense, community involvement is the cornerstone of my campaign." Nehor cocks his head. Leafiara says, "My aim is to build on what Crux did as mayor, but push it further, with engagement of all our citizens." Leafiara turns to face Cruxophim. Speaking to Cruxophim, Leafiara says, "The night that we worked on the bone pillars represents the pinnacle of what a mayor can achieve, in my eyes." Cruxophim affably muses, "I have faith in this endeavor." Cruxophim chuckles. Speaking to Cruxophim, Leafiara says, "You did a remarkable job of uniting citizens from every walk of life." Leafiara nods at Cruxophim. Speaking to Nehor, Leafiara says, "Back to the context of your question, then..." Xorus says, "Aside from Tykel, of course." Cruxophim laughs softly, trying to hide his amusement. Speaking to Xorus, Leafiara concedes, "True." Leafiara chuckles. Xorus winks at Cruxophim. Speaking amusedly to Cruxophim, Leafiara says, "One of many assassination attempts that year." Nehor amusedly says, "Bone pillars in the Temple of Ivas seems to be contextually apt imagery." Speaking to Nehor, Leafiara says, "In any case, I don't believe in pushing the town in any particular direction, but finnding out where it wants to go." Speaking to Nehor, Leafiara says, "We'll hold weekly meetings, alterrnating afternoons and evenings, to get the pulse of the people and what they'd like to see built and expanded." Speaking to Nehor, Leafiara says, "I know that Eledryn has already been asking for an outdoor ampitheater, so that would be first on the list." The red and grey fox rolls around on the ground for a moment. Leafiara adds, "And then we could look into other good suggestions." Leafiara grins. Leafiara nods at Kothos. Kothos asks, "All right, Faerinn, or Xorus?" Speaking to you, Faerinn asks, "Preference?" Kothos asks, "Either of you wish to discuss your thoughts about these ambitious plans?" Xorus says, "Either way." Kothos flashes a quick grin. Kothos says, "My favorite." Faerinn says, "I'll go first then." Xanthium gives Kothos a series of teasing little prods along the spine. Xanthium snickers. Cruxophim flashes a wide grin. Faerinn says, "I plan to establish a registry of public art in the Landing." Nehor raises an eyebrow in Faerinn's direction. Speaking curiously to Faerinn, Nehor asks, "A registry?" Speaking to Kothos, Xanthium says, "Yes, all right. I'd do that for him." Faerinn says, "To have a record of what art is present, but also to repair and perserve all pieces of it." Faerinn says, "And an outdoor ampitheatre sounds like a great idea. I would like to see an expansion of the arts in the Landing." Speaking approvingly to Faerinn, Nehor says, "A communities art is a communities history. Restoring and preserving as well as expanding it is quite a wise plan." Maylan boredly says, "Arts and crafts are boring." Nofret says, "Not if you're a bard, they aren't." Cruxophim sagely remarks, "Well, one is certainly not prohibiting from taking the good ideas of others and moving forward with them in conjunction, should one be fortune enough to be elected." Leafiara offhandedly says, "Just have to watch out for all the fires around here." Speaking to Faerinn, Kothos says, "We have any number of dancers who long for more stages." Leafiara looks thoughtfully at Maylan. Speaking slyly to Maylan, Cruxophim remarks, "They don't have to be." Speaking to Maylan, Naamit says, "Drink more. You'll like them better." Cruxophim shows Maylan his vertebral bone belt. Faerinn says, "Give people something else in the evening to do than watch the latest innovations in burning the town down or better theatre than grandstanding in political theatre." Speaking to Maylan, Akenna says, "I like to make shoes... it is a lot of fun." Speaking to Kothos, Faerinn says, "I'd love for them to have more places to perform." Speaking to Akenna, Maylan asks, "What's the fun part? Eating the cobbling glue?" Naamit nods in agreement at Faerinn. Speaking to Maylan, Akenna asks, "Why... why would you do that?" Faerinn says, "Perhaps if we look like we can take care of our things. Then the Empire won't think they need to step in and do it for us." Faerinn nods at Kothos. Kothos smiles. Kothos asks, "Xorus?" Xorus nods at Kothos. Xorus says, "The Virtuoso of Vornavis raises a fine point, and as the esteemed playwright that he is, he knows above all the play is the thing." Xorus says, "When all are mere dust in the ground, it is the art of a civilization that survives." Kothos nods slowly to you. Kothos says, "You have a point. And often enough, the Temples. Which like here, are made of art." Xorus says, "Certainly, I support fostering high culture in our quaint hamlet, whether an amphitheater or a grand opera house." Nehor nods approvingly to Xorus. Leafiara adopts an agreeable expression. Lazaryth smiles a polite smile at Kothos. Lazaryth says, "It's quite true." Speaking amusedly to Xorus, Cruxophim inquires, "What about a coliseum of bone?" Xorus says, "When these things are truly in the spirit of the community, what happens on the stage is a visceral communal experience, it as though the gods were making its action real." Speaking incredulously to Cruxophim, Nehor asks, "Must it always be about bones with you, sirrah?" Nehor smirks. Speaking approvingly to Cruxophim, Leafiara says, "If the coliseum would have battles, I'm all for it." Leafiara looks thoughtfully at Xorus. Kothos smiles at Xorus. Xorus says, "As such I would be entirely in favor of making all the storm and bloody drama as viscerally real as possible in such productions." Xorus takes a drink from his Faendryl absinthe. Speaking to Xorus, Kothos asks, "You've a poet's soul in there somewhere. Did he give it up cheaply, I wonder?" Akenna appears to be trying hard not to grin. Nehor coughs. Evyl begins chuckling at Kothos! Berkana chuckles. Speaking to Kothos, Xorus says, "For absinthe." Balantine suggestively says, "Might hae better entertainment in town if there were better trainers in the bard guild." Leafiara looks thoughtfully at Balantine. Kothos nods at Balantine. Speaking to Balantine, Kothos says, "Xanthium was just bemoaning that the barre and the wine were the only reason to go there." Xanthium says, "It's a great place to practice." Leafiara admits, "That might be a bit beyond the reach of a local mayor since the bard guild is--more of a continent-wide organization." Xorus says, "Personally, I favor the Faendryl opera, phantasmagorical with illusionists and multiple languages." Speaking to Leafiara, Balantine says, "There's always Helga's I reckon." Leafiara grins wryly at Balantine. Speaking to Nehor, Akenna asks, "I am sure you could donate a few, do you have that old arm-bone of yours?" Kothos smiles at Xorus. Akenna asks, "You know, the one Socius ripped from your body?" Cruxophim flashes a toothy grin. Cruxophim gazes with interest at Nehor. Nehor frowns. Nehor stands there stubbornly, folding his arms over his chest. Akenna smiles sweetly at Nehor. Shinann raises an eyebrow. Speaking to Xorus, Kothos asks, "Do you have more to add, Professor Xorus?" Xanthium says, "Since it's always empty." Leafiara chuckles. Xorus shakes his head. Leafiara nods gratefully to Xorus. Xorus says, "That should be sufficient." Kothos says, "Evyl, you had a question to ask." Lazaryth gazes in amusement at Xorus. Evyl asks, "I am relatively new to this town, but I have already heard about a most insidious problem involving a group called the Rooks. Can you speak to what you would do to drive out the scourge upon the Landing, or your reason for not?" Kothos nods once to Xorus. Leafiara nods understandingly. (Xanthium reaches up with both hands, stretching until her toes are pulled on point, her arches carrying her weight, and then winks over at Kothos, making a little twirl by the water's edge.) Leafiara cocks her head at Kothos. Xanthium nods at Leafiara. Speaking curiously to Kothos, Leafiara asks, "Same answering order, or changing it up?" Xanthium says, "Might as well keep the order." Kothos nods at Xanthium. Kothos says, "Agreed." Kothos says, "Leafiara, go ahead." Leafiara relievedly says, "Oh, good. I'm fairly sure people would have been waiting for me on this one if I wasn't first." Leafiara chuckles. Leafiara winks at Cruxophim and flashes a sly grin. Nicolas tilts his head toward Leafiara, examining her intently as the tip of one ear twitches briefly. Leafiara says, "The matter of the Rooks, an underground organization that has in the past been known for criminal activities but also frequently steps up to defend the town and has occasionally made brief alliances with different militia marshals... is a pretty complicated situation." Guarrin folds his hands behind his back. Leafiara says, "Strictly speaking, the jurisdiction of the Landing is exclusively above ground and ends at the gates, with a few exceptions like the Wayside Inn." Leafiara says, "So, in a sense, nothing stops any concerned citizen from exploring their tunnels and taking matters into their own hands, clear of the law." Leafiara says, "And yet..." Leafiara says, "It's never been as easy as it would seem. Puptilian campaigned on it being Rook season if he won, but wasn't able to make headway even with the resources of the mayoral office *and* friendships with many in the militia." Speaking offhandedly to Shinann, Leafiara says, "Correct me if I'm wrong on that, but the Rooks remained strong after his terms." (there is a side discussion at the same time about kimonos) Shinann says, "They did, but we did have raids on their hideouts." Leafiara nods at Shinann. Leafiara says, "I'm open to suggestions on what to do regarding the Rooks, because as I said before, I'm only interested in helping the town gets to where it wants to be." Leafiara says, "I know very well that some of you have mistakenly thought over the years that I *am* a Rook." Leafiara says, "But no--they seem to like me, but I've never been part of their organization nor even aided them in any particular way." Dhairn takes a drink from his fragrant mulled wine. Leafiara looks thoughtful for a moment, then shrugs. Leafiara speculatively admits, "I assume it's because I'm not as concerned about them as others." Cruxophim calmly remarks, "They aren't the fist clandestine organization to arise in or around the Landing, and I doubt they'll be the last." Leafiara says, "Ever since Rysus' death their activities have been infrequent, and when they do come out of the alleys it's usually during invasions to battle against our enemies." Cruxophim slowly corrects, "First, also." Cruxophim snickers. Leafiara says, "And they were helpful in some of the evacuation before our final confrontation with Raznel." Leafiara acknowledges, "But there were also those who refused to go in their wagons and would rather risk death against the witch's forces." Leafiara says, "So we'll discuss it together and decide from there." Leafiara nods. Leafiara admits, "That was a bit long, but I'm quite sure I have the most history with the Rooks, of the candidates." Leafiara grins. Leafiara nods at Cruxophim. Speaking politely to Kothos, Leafiara says, "That will do for an answer." Kothos nods at Leafiara. Kothos says, "Thank you." Kothos asks, "Faerinn?" Lazaryth applauds Leafiara. Leafiara grins at Lazaryth. Evyl lightly fans himself with his shadowy ebon fan. Lazaryth says, "A well-measured answer." Speaking lightly to Lazaryth, Leafiara says, "No, I rarely put that much thought into things. Especially questions I don't know about beforehand." Leafiara chuckles. Lazaryth begins chuckling at Leafiara! Leafiara winks at Lazaryth. Leafiara tilts her head toward Faerinn, examining him intently as the tip of one ear twitches briefly. Faerinn says, "I have been bitten by enough so called freedom fighting organizations coming up from the sewers that claim to be for the people." Dhairn quietly says, "I personally don't see why people think the Rooks are nefarious. They're an organization with goals just like any other." Faerinn says, "To be wary of them." Speaking to Faerinn, Evyl quips, "If they bite and are in the sewers, chances are those are rats." Faerinn says, "They I know they are an organization of criminals and there is a very solid barrier between the Mayor's Office and the Constabulary." Kothos says, "Everyone, it's gotten quite late, even for us nightbirds. No one has raised their hand or whispered an interest to me past Evyl, here, so when Faerinn and Xorus finish, I will call us to a close." Nehor nods at Kothos. Cryheart raises his hand. Cryheart says, "Raised my hand a bit ago, sorry." Nehor notes, "One for the road." Cryheart says, "Mine will be quick." Cruxophim amusedly suggests, "Lightning round?" Speaking to Cryheart, Kothos says, "Of course. Once Faerinn is done, and Xorus has spoken." Leafiara lightly promises, "Just as long as it's not about the Rooks, I could keep my last answer short." Leafiara snickers. Faerinn says, "Its outside of the purvey of the Mayor's office to determine their criminality or if they are to be trusted. However, for my personal opinion I'd have to meet this mother and these Rooks to know for sure. I'm an excellent judge of character, but can't do so second hand." Faerinn nods at Kothos. Kothos smiles at Faerinn. Kothos says, "A most considered answer, thank you." Kothos smiles at Faerinn. Kothos asks, "Professor Xorus?" Xorus nods slowly. Xorus says, "The Rooks are a kind of hydra, they morph into another beast with each head cut off. Their leaders have ranged from Alendrial, who is now on the town council, to Drangell, Rysus, and now... 'Mother'." Leafiara nods in agreement to Xorus. Cruxophim nods slowly to Xorus. Xorus says, "It is unfortunate that Praxopius chose to assassinate Rysus with the elixir I was working on to cure the heiress of Bourth." Xorus says, "I was always able to reason with Rysus, appeal to his self-interest, and could have kept him on a leash with it." Leafiara looks thoughtfully at Xorus. Xorus says, "Mother, on the other hand, is something else." Xorus says, "This is someone who defies the civil order by acting as a separate government, standing with immunity before the constabulary and even the militia itself." Leafiara nods to Xorus. Lylia nods to Xorus. Xorus says, "Truly, this cannot stand, and yet the office of Mayor is so terribly weak." Shinann folds her hands behind her back. Xorus says, "Thus, what will become of the Rooks depends on whether they cooperate, for if they limited themselves to a kind of organized crime, I could make it well worth their while arranging illicit exports and we might know peace without predation on our shopkeepers." Leafiara looks thoughtfully at Xorus. Lylia gazes with interest at Xorus. Lylia nods. Shinann raises an eyebrow. Xorus says, "If they cannot limit themselves in this way? It would be time to start forming a paramilitary force, 'death squads' if you will, and end this problem until they take on a form more agreeable to the will of the state." Shaelethe blinks. Nicolas's face turns slightly pale. Kothos nods slowly to Xorus. Cruxophim chuckles to himself. Naamit rubs her chin thoughtfully. Evyl looks thoughtfully at Xorus. Berkana grins slowly. Kothos says, "...you've definitely got an outlook." Leafiara chuckles. Berkana chuckles. Naamit draws her hands together in a slow, deliberate clap. Evyl remarks, "Interesting solution." Speaking surprisedly to Xorus, Elphieya asks, "Death squads?" Guarrin raises an eyebrow. Speaking to Xorus, Kothos asks, "Anything else? Or are we stopping at death squads?" Lylia says, "Seems like a good final resting place." Xorus says, "I am not optimistic that this can be solved in any reasonable amount of time, and if it came to that, I would certainly welcome friends to assist in attaining the civil order." Speaking to Xorus, Faerinn asks, "For clarification. Are the squads dead? Cause death? Or both?" Kothos says, "Well. I wouldn't want to presume. Some of you come back." Leafiara nods understandingly to Xorus. Xorus says, "The undead are most obedient, but they need not be dead." Cruxophim begins chuckling at Xorus! Lazaryth gazes at Xorus. Kothos begins chuckling at Xorus! Xorus indifferently says, "I suppose I have said enough on that matter." Xorus takes a drink from his Faendryl absinthe. Lazaryth shakes his head, totally at a loss. Leafiara grins at Xorus. Kothos says, "That's quite the invective." Cruxophim affably suggests, "Lightning round! Short answers only please, Cryheart... go!" Cruxophim points at Cryheart. Leafiara nods in agreement at Cruxophim. Kothos says, "Cryheart has the last question." Cryheart asks, "What are the candidates position on having interactions or associations with baronies from within the Empire?" Leafiara nods. Xorus raises an eyebrow. Xorus wryly asks, "... that is meant to be a quick question?" Cryheart says, "Keep in mind it was an Imperial baron who sent Sir Maldon to the Landing to prevent Baron Hochstib in claiming it." Cryheart grins. Leafiara grins crookedly at Xorus. Shinann chuckles to herself. Soliere appears less secure. Lazaryth appears to be trying hard not to grin. Kothos laughs softly, trying to hide his amusement. Lylia grins at Xorus. Cruxophim laughs softly, trying to hide his amusement. Leafiara frankly says, "I haven't known Faerinn very long, but one thing we seem to agree on is that the Empire is constantly trying to overstep its bounds with even the mildest excuse." Speaking to Xorus, Xanthium asks, "For you, maybe. You've got another few thousand years, at least?" Elphieya quietly exclaims, "It could be a quick answer. Pro or con and no explanation!" Elphieya giggles. Cryheart nods at Elphieya. Speaking to Xanthium, Kothos says, "We'll be unearthed like relics in Xorus' answer about art, by then." Cruxophim gleefully jests, "Burn 'em all!" Elphieya fans her delicately tapered jade green wings at Cryheart, visibly stirring the air about him. Cruxophim raises his articulated gauntlets heavenward in triumph. Akenna's shoulders shake subtly as she struggles to compose her features, revealing a glimmer of mirth before returning to a poker face. Speaking to Cruxophim, Kothos says, "Excuse me while I go stand in the fishpond." Lazaryth smirks. Kothos snickers at Cruxophim. Leafiara says, "If they want to aid us in war, so be it. Temporary alliances, all alright wth me." Leafiara says, "But there will be no further imperials on our town council." Leafiara shakes her head. Cruxophim points at Faerinn. Akenna says, "Fire solves.. a lot of problems." (side conversation continues to the end about burning) Leafiara grins slowly at Akenna. Lazaryth begins chuckling at Akenna! Faerinn says, "No." Faerinn nods at Cruxophim. Elphieya wonderingly says, "I've only been around for two election seasons but it always seems to circle back to burning things down." Leafiara chuckles. Xanthium grins at Faerinn. Speaking affably to Faerinn, Cruxophim praises, "Short, and to the point." Cryheart asks, "Was that a no ye are nae going to respond..or no to interactions?" Speaking amusedly to Cryheart, Cruxophim guesses, "I think he's taking a full seperationist stance." Speaking to Cryheart, Faerinn says, "Your answer - short." Faerinn grins. Cruxophim points at Xorus. Xorus asks, "Ah. My turn?" Kothos nods to you. Kothos says, "Your turn." Xorus says, "I spoke about this at length earlier, so I will try to be brief on it." Xorus says, "The town council has capitulated repeatedly to the notion of being an imperial protectorate of Tamzyrr. In so doing they spoiled the opportunity to have our sovereignty recognized in the East." Xorus says, "As such we have no foreign power of relevance recognizing our sovereignty. This situation will most likely not change within the next few decades." Xorus says, "I would play well with the Northern Sentinel and strengthen our position as much as possible until such time it is more feasible to take a separatist stance." Cruxophim flashes a quick grin. Leafiara rubs her chin thoughtfully. Dhairn adopts an agreeable expression. Dhairn quietly says, "Clever." Cruxophim nods absently. Xorus says, "Barring that, if this land does become annexed at some point, much autonomy could be retained if a local became Baron instead of a southern import." Xorus shrugs. Leafiara looks thoughtfully at you. Lylia thoughtfully taps a finger against her lips. Xorus says, "That, in a nut shell, is it." Kothos says, "You mean to position us to be a barony of our own, instead of getting forcibly aborbed by one of the others." Cryheart says, "He speaks of autonomy to an extent of a baron for us." Cryheart nods at Kothos. Kothos says, "We are done with the event. You can ask what you wish, but I believe we should be at a close." Xorus says, "That is one of the two options. When the Earl of North Hendor eventually is no longer Northern Sentinel, there will either be a new one of unknown disposition, or none at all and we will have the old situation with the northern baronies." Cruxophim affably announces, "Thank you all, for joining us! It's been quite entertaining, and many thanks to our delightful host, Kothos." Kothos bows. (applause) Kothos says, "Everyone, thank you for your attendance. I hope our surroundings have been pleasing." Xanthium says, "Come back now, sometime." Xanthium grins. |
