Goddess of Wisdom and Knowledge

Lumnis is the Goddess of Wisdom and Knowledge, and the wife of Koar. She is not considered the "Queen" of the Gods, however. She gives counsel willingly, even to the Dark Gods, but never commands.

Lumnis' power lies in her understanding of the interrelationships of the Spheres of Knowledge (Elemental, Spiritual, Chaos, Order and Planar) and her intuitive grasp of their intricacies. Able to accomplish feats that leave even Koar amazed, she wields her knowledge with the style of an artist.

She is worshiped by scholars and practitioners of the arcane arts who explore the boundaries of their knowledge with a wonder and respect of the powers they discover. Her wisdom is also sought by fortune-tellers and all in need of guidance. Lumnis will never give an answer outright, however. She would rather advise and guide, allowing those who seek aid to find the answer on their own.

She regards Fash'lo'nae's approach to knowledge as ultimately self-destructive and unconscionable. Her disapproval of knowledge for personal gain or power is such that she has been attributed with the sudden disappearance of several notably power-hungry magic users over the centuries.

Lumnis' preferred humanoid manifestation is that of a mature woman in gossamer robes of light grey, so long that her feet are never seen and the hem is lost in distant mists. Her hair is black with a single shock of grey at her forehead. In manner she is serene, and even in anger she is more a disappointed mother than a raging goddess. Her symbol is a golden scroll overlaying five conjoined circles, the circles being red (Planar), blue (Spiritual), black (Chaos), green (Elemental), and white (Order) - symbolizing her mastery of the Spheres of Knowledge.

Shrines, Statuary, and Holy Places

Ta'Illistim, Kaerinar Wey Shrine

On Kaerinar Wey in Ta'Illistim there is a shrine to Lumnis.

The niche, carefully built into the stone wall, houses a simply carved marble likeness of Lumnis. The Arkati stands with her gown swirling about her, hands gently spread to the sides. A gentle smile graces her face.

Cleric Guilds

Displayed in the Prayer Rooms of each Cleric Guild is a statue of Lumnis. These prayer rooms are considered a holy shrine to multiple deities.

The statue of Lumnis depicts a mature woman clad in long, delicate robes. A serene smile plays across her face and her hands are clasped lightly behind her back. Her demeanor is one of utter tranquility and self assurance.

K>touch Lumnis
You reach out and touch the statue of Lumnis.

A peaceful, serene presence fills you, calming and clearing your mind. "Temper your knowledge with wisdom, Orah," speaks a quiet voice, "and you shall be the most enlightened among men."

Wehnimer's Landing Cleric Guild

On the Landing of the Wehnimer's Landing Cleric Guild are a pair of painted wooden statues depicting Lumnis and Fash'lo'nae. In the center of the room stand two statues, one male and one female, backs turned but still looking over their shoulders, each watching the other. They stand upon a wooden base with words carved into the surface. This area is not a holy shrine.

Lumnis and Fash'lo'nae stand, back to back, watching each other warily. Each holds a book, open as if they were reading. While the Queen of Enlightenment holds a book on benevolent knowledge, the Grandfather holds a tome full of destructive learning.

In the Common language, it reads:
"Through knowledge, we bring ourselves closer to the Gods."

Located in the Antechamber of Liabo is a table inset with disks depicting all of the Liabo arkati, including one for Lumnis. This area is not considered a holy shrine.

A golden scroll overlaying five conjoined circles of red, blue, black, green, and white is painted on the crystal disk representing Lumnis.

CHANT (verb)
[1p cleric] You chant a reverent orison, asking Lumnis for wisdom and guidance.
[3p cleric] CLERIC chants a short but reverent orison, asking for wisdom and guidance.
[1p paladin] You bow your head and chant a short prayer to Lumnis, causing multihued and golden light to momentarily coalesce in front of you.
[3p paladin] PALADIN bows her head and chants a short prayer, causing multihued and golden light to momentarily coalesce in front of her.
Major Sanctuary (220)
Bright light rises around you and your world blurs...
[Solace of Knowledge Sanctuary]
Clinging to ivory columns, wisteria and grape vines twine to obscure the peaked marble roof, their sweet fragrance filling the air. Bright light, its source unseen yet constant, fills the quiet space around a small, square pool filled with lilies and koi. Concentric bands of white, black, blue, red, and green overlap each other and enclose solitary meditation mats while pale drapes flutter lightly in a soft breeze.
Each pulsing in a color of its own, the concentric bands inlaid into the floor grow brighter and brighter until your vision is filled with them and the world around you is blurred...
Well of Life (308)
As you sense your souls have linked together, a few wisps of grey mist drift past you.
Condemn (309)
[Success] Crisp lines of brilliant color circle TARGET, forming five rings in constant motion about (him/her/it).
[Failure] Faint rings of color flicker around TARGET for a moment, but nothing comes of it.
[Damage] (Black/blue/green/red/white) energy flares around TARGET and sears (him/her/it) for X points of damage!
[Debuff end] The colored rings surrounding TARGET slow their motion and fade away.
Blind (311)
[1p] As your faith overcomes TARGET's weakened defenses, you sense the wisdom and knowledge of the Queen of Enlightenment flowing through you.
[2p] CASTER's face shimmers and vanishes, and, in its place, you see the image of a mature woman robed in cloud grey gossamer. A single streak of grey hair mars her black tresses, and her face is serenely calm. Divine radiance blazes around the image, and you are blinded.
Prayer (313)
[1p] Turning your thoughts inward, you ask for the wisdom of your deity to protect you. Confidence and clarity settle over you, and you sense that your prayer has been granted.
[3p] Opalescent light shines in CASTER's eyes.
Censure (316)
For your transgressions, you shall receive all that you have earned, for you are one who heeds no wisdom, and you are one who takes no guidance. Therefore, no wisdom and no guidance shall you have, and you shall be lost beyond redemption....
Raise Dead (318)
[1p] Lifting your finger, you begin to chant and draw a series of conjoined circles in the air. Each circle turns to mist and takes on a different hue - white, blue, black, red, and green. As the last ring is completed, you spread your fingers and gently allow your tips to touch each color before pushing the misty creation towards TARGET. A shock of energy courses through your body as the mist seeps into TARGET's chest and life is slowly returned to his body.

Divine Wrath (335)
[1p]
As you pour your soul into an appeal to Lumnis, you know that you are heard. As insight floods through you, the world around you seems misty and immaterial.
As divine wisdom illuminates all things around you, you gain a greater understanding of the frail, tenuous nature of existence and the beauty within that fragility. The power of Lumnis has answered your prayer.
Guided by the knowledge within you, you concentrate upon TARGET, and, by strength of will alone, you expose the natural weaknesses of TARGET.
As your connection to Lumnis lessens, the world of divine insight slips away from you, destroying the subtle understanding that you so briefly managed to grasp.
[3p]
CASTER stares into the distance with an abstracted expression on her face.
Tendrils of soft grey mist curl around CASTER's hands, and a matching pale grey light shimmers in her eyes.
As CASTER stares at TARGET, the grey light in her eyes intensifies, and then tendrils of mist stretch from her hands to caress TARGET.
The grey light dies from CASTER's eyes, and the tendrils of soft grey mist surrounding her hands dissipate.

An arc of multihued light leaps from the parchment of the ethereal scroll, striking TARGET!
The ethereal scroll rolls itself and vanishes without a trace.
