God of Strength, Athletic Prowess, and Skill at Arms
Kai is the God of Physical Strength and Athletic Prowess. He has been beaten once in armed combat by Koar, and fought once to a standstill against V'tull. Beyond these two instances, every opponent Kai has faced has fallen before him. Legend holds that in the Ur-Daemon War, Kai slew more of the enemy than any Drake did, despite their awesome might, and is the only Arkati who participated in that war to have survived.
Kai's joy of physical combat is such that only Koar's injunctions keep him from constant battle with the Gods of Darkness. As an alternative he often roams Elanthia looking for unsuspecting mortals to toy with in physical "contests" of one sort or another.
Kai's blessing is often invoked at contests of physical prowess.
Kai's preferred humanoid manifestation is that of a young man of epic build with strong and carefree features. Kai is always dressed in light armor and is never without a weapon of some sort. In manner, he is carefree, brave and aggressive. His symbol is a silver arm with fist clenched, on a field of crimson. His clerics name their maces, cast in the same shape, the Fists of Kai.
Shrines, Statuary, and Holy Places
Wehnimer's Landing, Shrine of Heroes
The Shrine of Heroes was located in the Lower Dragonsclaw Forest outside Wehnimer's Landing. It played an important role along the path to enlightenment in the Order of Voln.
A warrior of magnificent size and strength stands proudly in the center of the room. The heroic figure, carved from a single block of pale grey granite, towers to a height of nearly twenty breathtaking feet. Though his face is youthful, his gaze is that of one who has unflinchingly confronted even the mightiest of foes. One mighty hand clutches a fel-wood spear tipped with gleaming adamantine, raised warily against some unseen foe. Perhaps the most remarkable feature of this granite god is his left hand. Clenched in a tight fist that betrays both stern inner resolve as well as intense ferocity, you can almost imagine it crushing the last breath out of any enemy.
Ta'Vaalor, Victory Court
Standing in Victory Court is a statue dedicated to Kai. It is considered a holy shrine.
[Ta'Vaalor, Victory Court] An immense white marble fountain occupies the center of the court. Perched in its center, a towering statue of Kai stands, holding his sword aloft. His features have been painted onto the marble surface with pigments and artistry so lifelike, he appears ready to step from the fountain. Obvious paths: north, east, south, west >look at statue The statue stands at least the height of three elves. Fully dressed in light battle armor, Kai holds his massive sword aloft, a fierce expression on his face. From his helm to the soles of his boots, his likeness is the epitome of a fearsome warrior.
Cleric Guilds
Displayed in the Prayer Rooms of each Cleric Guild is a statue of Kai. These prayer rooms are considered a holy shrine to multiple deities.
The statue of Kai seems to exude boundless energy and martial enthusiasm. He appears as a young man, well-muscled, with strong and carefree features. He wears his armor as naturally as robes. In his powerful hand is a spiked mace. K>touch Kai You reach out and touch the statue of Kai. A warm feeling washes over you, as if Kai smiled upon you.
Wehnimer's Landing Cleric Guild
Located in the Antechamber of Liabo is a table inset with disks depicting all of the Liabo arkati, including one for Kai. This area is not considered a holy shrine.
A silver arm, with fist clenched, on a field of crimson is painted on the crystal disk representing Kai.
Ta'Vaalor Cleric Guild
One of the Chambers of Lessons in the Ta'Vaalor Cleric Guild is dedicated to Kai. The statue is identical to that in the other Cleric Guilds. It is considered a holy shrine.
[Liabo Hall, Chamber of Lessons] Banners of vivid crimson silk span the gaps between the pristine, fluted white columns, and the hall ends abruptly in small, round chamber. A small, flawless altar rises from the unadorned floor, its base wrought with bold silver knotwork. Behind the altar is a cyclopean statue of a heavily-muscled man, his fluid stance a masterful depiction of his competence in combat. Obvious exits: south >look altar Inlaid with a disc of vivid scarlet eahnor, the altar bears the lustrous symbol of a clenched fist upon its surface. Dark silver knotwork runs along its base and edges, twining about its topmost portions in a bold, striking style. An open book lays atop the altar. >read book In the Common language, it reads: "Learn the lessons well from this Patron - combat flows as the blood in his veins."
