Background

Alendrial is the wife of Stephos DeArchon and she fled with her husband to Wehnimer's Landing after their home and business in Idolone were ruined because of racial tensions surrounding her half-elven blood and being married to a human. Over the years Stephos spent less and less time focusing on his wife, while being kept busy with plotting his revenge on the Turamzzyrian Empire and funding criminal activities, that Alendrial began to grow apart from her husband. In 5114, Lord Rinhale the inquisitor came to Wehnimer's Landing to investigate the rumors that Stephos might be involved in supplying weapons to the krolvin fleets attacking the imperial coasts. In a foolish attempt to keep her husband safe, Alendrial seduced Rinhale to try to learn what he knew about her husband, and the inquisitor was eventually murdered during one of their nightly rendevous by the urnon golem Madelyne Cross. Alendrial buried the body, but her involvement was eventually discovered and she was apprehended for a time, before ultimately helping to get her husband exposed and arrested.

With the disappearance of her husband, Alendrial then ascended to the leadership role within the Brotherhood of Rooks, after Drangell was wounded during a tunnel collapse beneath town. Alendrial was often referred to as "The Mother" of the Rooks, as she tended to many of their wounds during Talador's siege on the town. The Brotherhood of Rooks kept up their criminal activity with Alendrial in charge, and soon she became allied with another member of the Rooks, by the name of Rysus.

Drangell eventually returned, healed from his wounds, and Alendrial and Rysus disagreed with Drangell's bloodthirsty methods, so a civil war among the Rooks broke out. In the end, Rysus and Alendrial worked with the heroes to help lure and imprison Drangell in a magical glass coffin that could contain him until they discovered a way to end him. However, Alendrial was also apprehended by Sir Thadston and allies, when her location was mysteriously and suddenly leaked. Rumors suggest that Rysus helped to both capture Drangell, and Alendrial, making way for him to rise to the top of the Brotherhood of Rooks.

Alendrial was held in custody by Sir Thadston in the Hendoran Outpost for several months, where she was kept fed and taken care of, in hopes she might provide information to the whereabouts of her husband, Stephos. After the Brotherhood of Rooks helped to orchestrate a slaughter of some of the Hendorans' families, Alendrial's life was put in danger and some of Thadston's men tried to burn her alive in her cell. Thadston had those men executed for their crimes, and eventually freed Alendrial, sending her back home to the Swale. Reports came back from Chastonia that Alendrial's escort was attacked, and while no one died, she was taken by the raiders and her whereabouts were unknown.

In the summer of 5116 there was an attempt by Rysus to negotiate a deal to have Alendrial pardoned. This was refused at the time by Mayor Puptilian. Alendrial was a leader within the Scions of Shaundara at the time, attempting to help half-elves during the terrors of the Blameless crusaders under Prelate Chaston Griffin. However, both Alendrial and Stephos returned in 5117, when they were pardoned by Mayor Cruxophim. In early 5118 Surofee, the Headmistress of the Wellington orphanage, resigned as Steward of the Coffers which at the time was a town council position. The mayor chose Alendrial over Larton, Edwina, Granthem, and Malluch Burdos, and Cutlass who withdrew from contention over "recent events." This was due to the rise of the first vigilante calling himself Rone, who was eventually discovered to be Malluch seeking vengeance against the co-conspirators of Dennet Kestrel. Alendrial announced a 5 million silver bounty on Rone by the town council. They also permitted the repurposing of the bone pillars once used by Grishom Stone to break wards over the town, with the intent of using magical resonances as amplification to provide warding, which ended up involving blood magic which was also used with the pillars to locate and capture Malluch.

Later in 5118 when faced by demands from House Vaalor to "return" the Elven village next to the Red Forest, in compensation for past injuries by Wehnimer's Landing, Alendrial as councilwoman hosted a debate on the matter. The town council chose to deny that the Landing has any claim on it and the Empire agreed to cede the village to the Elven Nations. Alendrial in 5123 would concede that Mayor Lylia had been right on this issue, that the Landing should have taken the opportunity to make expansive borders for itself, given the Empire creating the Barony of Darkstone which happened later. One month later a second Rone vigilante, this time an abducted and brainwashed Thrayzar, broke into the DeArchon home and abducted Ayred. The Rone vigilantes had been juiced up by "The Alchemist", a former Landing resident and then minor lord of Idolone named Praxopius Fortney, whose family had been killed by the krolvin at the time Stephos had been supplying the krolvin with weapons. Ayred was taken for his talents with making portals. Ayred agreed to cooperate with Praxopius in exchange for sparing Alendrial and having Rysus poisoned to death. However, the DeArchon home was blown up by "Rone", and Alendrial announced a 10 million silver bounty. When the town had finished invading Glaoveln with Praxopius and killing the krolvin warlord Kragnack, with the contagious poison later known as "Blue Suffer", Thrayzar and Ayred were both released and Ayred ended up with Alendrial rather than Stephos.

In the aftermath of the invasion of Glaoveln, Casiphia Malatina found Rone gauntlets in the ship wreckage washed ashore, and became both the third Rone vigilante and the new "Mother" of the Rooks. Some had wrongly suspected Alendrial was resuming her role as Mother. Later in the summer of 5119 a bleakstone dealer named Cayde, who was actually dead and impersonated by Raznel, falsely claimed Alendrial signed off on placing a bleakstone statue of Mayor Lylia in front of Moot Hall. This statue rooted itself in the ground and caused a sentient blight calling itself "The Bleak". When the witch Raznel was finally slain, Pylasar went into the past to Kezmon Isle and did not return. Earl Jovery ordered the Hall of Mages to appoint a Magister as the replacement Regional Envoy, to which Alendrial and the town council acquiesced, in spite of it being a power of the mayor and at that time a voting member of the town council. When Pylasar was put on trial at the behest of Grand Magister Octaven for his crimes in absentia, due to his history of assisting Raznel, Alendrial and the town council voted to treat Pylasar as "innocent" and this verdict was treated as binding on the Empire by his replacement Magister Cordarius.

Then in the summer of 5120 there was a rise in criminal faction fighting in the Landing, instigated by someone known as "The Knave", which would eventually be blamed on her husband Stephos. Stephos is suspected of being framed, with some believing Amos set him up, so that Amos could consolidate power and influence in the town. Alendrial had identified cigars as being the ones Stephos smokes, and was hidden by Amos at one point allegedly for her protection. Stephos was arrested and ended up being sent to a prison in Idolone. The Darkstone Bay Consortium that was founded by Amos had also illegally removed Mayor Leafiara from office in 5121 and suspended the mayoral election. Alendrial and Cordarius negotiated the return of elections, with Amos becoming Steward of the Guilds, and the town government being restructured. While Alendrial remained Steward of the Coffers, this was no longer a member of the town council, which was instead to be elected directly and separately.

In the spring of 5122 the town council, Mayor Thadston, and the stewards including Alendrial appointed jurors for a trial of the captured krovlin warlord Tyrrax. Most of the jurors agreed prior to the trial to release Tyrrax for strategic reasons as a future ally against Grishom Stone. Then in the spring of 5123, Alendrial chose to run for mayor of Wehnimer's Landing, and ended up winning the election over Thadston. Alendrial has generally taken the position that a strong relationship with the Barony of Darkstone will mean a strong Wehnimer's Landing, and that the Barony of Darkstone was inevitable, but the Empire recognizes a free Landing is a stronger ally. Though if the Empire ever did attempt to conquer the Landing we would fight back but ultimately fail. Alendrial has also been open to "land expansion" and setting borders, given the Barony of Darkstone, and the Vaalor intent to eventually build a fortress on the village that accesses the Elven Nations trail.

When the shadowy figure behind the violent past phases of the Rooks and the then current Remnants faction, known as "The Wraith", was identified as Theodulph Underhill, Alendrial informed the town that is the name of the man who purchased one of Amos' plinite pylon warships months earlier, which had been made by Praxopius and used in the Glaoveln invasion of 5118. Mayor Alendrial directed the two elected Regional Envoys to persuade Idolone to release Stephos, as he was believed to possess knowledge on The Wraith. Athalia Malwind and the Earl of Estoria were informed Stephos had taken over the Ironhold prison, which was reclaimed but Stephos was eluding the authorities. Alendrial had Ayred open a portal to Idolone so Commander Sablo and Landing citizens could extradite Stephos. When Stephos was retrieved from this prison, the plinite pylon ship fired on Idolone. This ended with sending the Moonlit Maiden ship to stage an invasion of the Wraith's island, with Alendrial having Ayred provide a portal back home on the ship.

In the summer of 5123 she also came to an agreement with Tyrrax to build a camp on the Black Sands to house krolvin refugees from the Glaoveln volcano eruption, which Tyrrax would pay for, and releasing slaves and the krolvin doing work that would aid the Landing. This refugee camp was later destroyed. Shortly after Judge Manard released Captain Bodohal at trial to be cut down by vigilante justice, angering both Alendrial and Amos, Alendrial said in the coming weeks an investigation would begin to more fully address the disappearance of Judge Renpaw as well as the machinations of Manard. Renpaw was allegedly in Mestanir, and Manard had been installed by the Darkstone Bay Consortium.

Later in the fall of 5123, Alendrial appointed Beldrin as Steward of the Guilds, as well as the representative to the town for the Parliament of Rooks. She also appointed a Faendryl named Mortellis to fill her vacated role as Steward of the Coffers. Alendrial asserted that she still does not know if Stephos was the Knave. He remained locked in a cell in Wehnimer's Landing. She refused to either pardon him or see him executed. Alendrial said that if Stephos can somehow prove he was not the Knave and pending consent from the Empire, he may go free, but that he would not be welcome to stay in the Landing. Elidal then agreed that the matter of justice on Stephos would be left to Wehnimer's Landing.
