Patron of Homicide

Onar is known as the Assassin of the Gods. Most often working at the behest of Eorgina, Onar is professionally cold and calculating. He never chooses a target without a reason. His services are used whenever a single death will achieve Eorgina's ends.

Onar also serves the other Gods, but always at a price. What coin can pay a God is not for mortals to guess at, but the Dark Gods seem to use his services regularly against mortals who cross them. In many courts of law, possession by Onar is a defense to a charge of murder. Such possession can usually be detected by the presence of a skull marking somewhere on the body of the one possessed.

Onar's true form is unknown, as he acts almost exclusively through the hands of others. In manner, he is cold-blooded and emotionless. His symbol is a broken white skull on a field of black.

Legend

One ancient elven legend relates obsidian to Onar, patron of assassins. According to this legend, after Fash'lo'nae first brought fire to the mortal races, there was a stir of powerful anger, for both the Great Drakes and the majority of the Arkati agreed that the mortal races should not have fire. The force of this divine anger created a vessel by which the desire for revenge could be executed -- Onar, a powerful spirit, who knew nothing of anger and everything of death. Onar possessed the first man ever to build fire and used his talented hands to knap an obsidian blade. This blade was the first weapon ever possessed by a mortal. Night after night, controlled by Onar, the man went into the darkness and killed his cohorts, causing them to believe that this marvelous new tool, fire, was cursed and would bring the mysterious open-throated death to those who used it. One night, however, the man was observed in his actions by a mortal woman, and she saw the obsidian blade that he used. The woman figured out how to create a similar blade, and then, when the man attacked her, she found that she could create the open-throated death just as well as he could. Brought by Onar, murder had become a tool of mortals, and mortals never forgot how to kill. (GM Scribes)

Shrines, Statuary, and Holy Places

Wehnimer's Landing, Coastal Cliffs shrine

[Mossy Caverns, Shrine]
Seven monoliths form a crude triangle in this room. Thin beams of wood with glowing vines growing on them have been placed on the top of the stones. The strange canopy and silent stone guardians seem to lend the shrine a dark sense of security. You also see a hewn obsidian altar, a pitch black hole and a narrow stone bridge.

Solhaven

[Shrine of Onar, Rotunda]
Pristine white marble slightly striated with black veins fills the round room and is crafted with masterful stonecutting Each block of the walls, floor, and ceiling has been so tightly placed that the effect is almost seamless. Narrow onyx half-columns serve as floor-to-ceiling beams, their grooved shafts rising from half-moon bases and ending in heavily gilded scalloped capitals. An altar waits at the far side of the domed expanse, opposite a small, square opening leading to some dark stone steps.

Cleric Guilds

Displayed in the Prayer Rooms of each Cleric Guild is a statue of Onar. These prayer rooms are considered a holy shrine to multiple deities.

The statue of Onar suggests only a pair of cold, calculating eyes in an amorphous shape.

K>touch Onar
You reach out and touch the statue of Onar.

A brief chill caresses your neck, like the kiss of cold steel, and then it is gone.

Wehnimer's Landing Cleric Guild

Located in the Antechamber of Others is a statue of Onar. This area is not considered a holy shrine.

The form of this figurine is difficult to discern. Concealed by an amorphous, billowing cloak, no face or body type is evident, though two red eyes can be seen in the recesses of the cloak's hood. Emerging from one wide sleeve, a skeletal hand holds a skull in its palm. The symbol on the base is a broken white skull on a field of black.

Spell/Ability Messaging
CHANT (verb)
[1p cleric] You chant a reverent orison, asking Onar for aid to deliver a quick and silent death.
[3p cleric] CLERIC chants a short but reverent orison, asking for aid to deliver a quick and silent death.
[1p paladin] You bow your head and chant a short prayer to Onar, causing bone white and dull black light to momentarily coalesce in front of you.
[3p paladin] PALADIN bows his head and chants a short prayer, causing bone white and dull black light to momentarily coalesce in front of him.
Major Sanctuary (220)
A deep shadow descends upon you and your breath is briefly muffled as your your vision blurs with darkness...
[Obsidian Shadow Sanctuary]
Obsidian walls rise from smooth black marble floors into a doomed ceiling shrouded in darkness. Set within a tiered structure, dozens of bone white tallows are arranged in the semblance of a cracked skull. Each short wick burns slow, causing them to splutter sporadically with any nearby movement; the candles' illumination is not enough to dispel the shadows beyond their ring of light. A velvet silence fills the air.
Suddenly the candles at the heart of the room go out and you are plunged into a deep darkness that obscures your vision of the world around you...
Well of Life (308)
As you sense your souls have linked together, the brief sensation of a dagger against your throat flashes past.
Condemn (309)
[Success] The shadows around TARGET grow deeper, and the air thrums with tension.
[Failure] An indistinct shadow passes behind TARGET, but nothing comes of it.
[Damage] A thin black dagger, more shadow than substance, fades into view mid-flight and strikes TARGET for X points of damage!
[Debuff end] The tension in the air surrounding TARGET fades away.
Blind (311)
[1p] As your faith overcomes TARGET's weakened defenses, you sense the cold, emotionless logic of the Assassin flowing through you.
[2p] CASTER's face shimmers and vanishes, and, in its place, you see the image of a cracked white skull. Shadows play over the pale bone surface, but never fully resolve into recognizable forms. Abruptly, the skull vanishes into complete and utter blackness -- along with everything else around you.
Prayer (313)
[1p] Turning your thoughts inward, you ask for the cool decisiveness of your deity to protect you. Nothing impressive happens externally, but your senses and awareness expand subtly, and you sense that your prayer has been granted.
[3p] Darkness flickers briefly in CASTER's eyes.
Censure (316)
For your transgressions, a contract has been placed against you. The price for your life has already been paid.
Raise Dead (318)
[1p] Almost imperceptible, you chant solemnly before TARGET, and the air around your hands begins to shimmer. Materializing out of nothingness, menacing shadows can be seen clinging to TARGET's cold body. With surgical precision, you strike at each dark tendril with a single finger, cutting them away from him. Slowly, you draw a single line across TARGET's neck, releasing him from the last bond of death.
[2p] Almost imperceptible, CLERIC chants solemnly before you, and the air around his hands begins to shimmer. Materializing out of nothingness, menacing shadows can be seen clinging to your cold body. Intercession
a deathstone skull talisman
Darkness flickers at the edge of your vision, and a light touch brushes your neck, the briefest caress of bone-chilling cold. A thread of numbness follows in its wake, but it is fleeting, and feeling returns in a warm rush.
Divine Wrath (335)
[1p]
As you pour your soul into an appeal to Onar, you know that you are heard. In the depths of your soul, you make the contract that will permit you a chance to obtain the death that you desire.
You sense the power of Onar near at hand.
A bone-shafted crossbow bolt flies out of the shadows toward TARGET!
As it reaches the end of its flight, the bone-shafted crossbow bolt disintegrates into unrecognizable dust.

Symbol of the Proselyte (340)
[Cast] You rest your hand atop your white skull symbol. A flash of light illuminates all of the bones beneath your flesh and every edge of the symbol.
[Chant] You chant a reverent orison and lightly clasp your white skull symbol. A rush of divine power washes over you. Your symbol pulses once and you feel the cold, calculated drive of Onar guiding you.
Miracle (350)
[1p] Shadows slant across the ground as they slither toward you and a deep chill touches your spirit. As the shadows writhe in a thick mass of darkness over your body, you distinctly hear a quiet whisper in your ear, "This was not the death I had in mind for you." A flash of light tears across your vision as it is consumed by the image of a cracked white skull.
