Aeia referred to as the Earth Mother, a goddess of nature and the world, itself. She is also the patron goddess and protector of River’s Rest. Gardens with statues of Aeia are thought to grow better and contain more colorful flowers than those without such adornment. The symbol for Aeia is a white lily on a field of green.

Her most common incarnation is that of a beautiful human with kind eyes.
Green sapphires are her favored gem. You are unlikely to ever meet a follower of Aeia that does not have such a stone on hand.

Aeia was worshipped widely during the Kannalan Empire and was a goddess of considerable importance. After the decline and eventual fall of the Citadel, however, her followers have diminished. She does, however, have a small pocket of worshippers around River’s Rest, which was the site of the last remnants of the old Empire. She can often be confused with Imaera.

Patroness of the Earth and Gardens

Aeia is a local goddess in the River's Rest area. She is quite popular with the locals, but her worship does not expand far past the surrounding area.

Local tradition dictates that Aeia is the earth mother; the world that the mortal races dwell on. She also seems to enjoy gardens, and such plots that contain statues of Aeia seem to do unnaturally well.

Aeia's preferred humanoid manifestation is that of a beautiful human female with kind eyes. In manner, she is quiet and gentle. Her symbol is a white lily on a field of green.

Shrines, Statuary, and Holy Places

Citadel, Garden Shrine

Her major shrine is just outside the ruined infirmary near the fallen Citadel. It is a beautiful garden shrine that is tended by a ghostly gardener. The garden is actually quite large and contains, as one would expect, a wide variety of flowering plants. The centerpiece of the shrine is a small pool covered in water lilies. In the depths of the pool is a statue of the goddess:

The size of a human female, the statue of Aeia graces the center of the pool with both beauty and substance. Beauty of form, line and texture, lovingly crafted by the gifted hands of a master whose art is bringing life to cold stone. Substance being the pure water that bubbles up from beneath her, filling the pool and giving life to the surrounding garden.

This shrine is partially featured in the story: The Falcon Pin and the Discovery of the Infirmary

River's Rest Cleric Guild

Garden Shrine

Outside the Cleric Guild in River's Rest there is a particularly lovely statue of the goddess:

Carved from unvarnished wood, the statue is immaculately smooth and appears to blend in perfectly with the deep green surroundings. Aeia is depicted standing in the middle of nature's wonderous splendor, her arms outstretched as if to warmly embrace all the plants and flowers within the shrine. Dark vines of ivy twine around the woman's feet, while her glittering green sapphire eyes and serene expression bespeak of a deep sense of caring for the flourishing life growing all around her.

The garden around the statue bloom with flowers of every hue, which punctuate the deep green of the lush plants growing in every corner.

Alchemic Workshop

There is a niche in one of the Alchemy workshops inside the River's Rest Cleric Guild dedicated to Aeia. This area is not considered a holy shrine.

A small niche in the corner is both the setting for a small altar and also the only decoration other than a dark wood workbench and assorted alchemic instruments. The liquid sounds of a slow moving river carry in from outside through the windows, accompanied by a slight breeze rich with the aroma of wet earth and sweet smelling blossoms.

Constructed of nothing more than three wood planks, one sitting atop two others, the altar is simple in construction. Set on the horizontal plank is a single smooth stone carved with a lily in its center. Two small votives encased in green glass burn beside the altar, casting an emerald glow onto the stone.

In the lobby of the alchemy area in the guild hangs a torn banner with Aeia's symbol on it.

The banner has the faded appearance of something created many centuries ago. In its center, surrounded by a field of green, is a single white lily. Narrow and long, the banner hangs downward several feet before abruptly ending in a ragged tear running the width of the banner.

Graveyard, Statue

Just inside the graveyard arch is another statue of Aeia:

The eyes of the statue have been left closed and upon her face is carved an expression of complete compassion. Her hands are folded at her waist in front of flowing robes carved from polished black marble. Set into her hands, crafted of white marble, is a single lily.

Infirmary, Tapestry

Inside the infirmary, there is a spectacular tapestry in the staff bedroom there:

The vivid colors of the tapestry have been untouched by time. The woven image retains all its artistic power. The tapestry depicts a tall, sharp-featured man standing in a garden. His head and left arm are swathed in bandages. In his hand he carries a pair of pruning shears.

As you gaze at the tapestry you feel almost as if you are drawn into the scene. You feel a gentle breeze blowing across your face. You smell the sweet scent of flowers and the rich odor of newly turned soil. Somewhere a tropical bird warbles an intricate melody, the last note of which seems to linger in the air.

The man moves about the garden with the easy grace of a warrior. He stoops to examine a leaf and remove a slug. He lays his hands on the plants as if he can draw strength from them. At the sound of a footstep he looks up. In the distance, silhouetted against the setting sun, is a woman wearing a white robe and carrying a lily. The tranquility of the man's face is replaced by a look of joy. As he stands to greet the woman you feel yourself slowly and inexorably pulled back into the present.

There is some speculation as to the identity of the man in the tapestry. He may be the ghostly gardener who tends Aeia's gardens. The image may not even be anyone in particular, but rather a general symbol of the followers of the goddess.

Wehnimer's Landing Cleric Guild

Located in the Antechamber of Others is a statue of Aeia. This area is not considered a holy shrine.

A beautiful human woman with kind eyes and flower-plaited hair is depicted in this statue. Upon its base is her symbol, a white lily on a field of green.

Ceremonies

Aeia was worshipped widely during the Kannalan Empire and was a goddess of considerable importance. After the decline and eventual fall of the Citadel, however, her followers have diminished. She does, however, have a small pocket of worshippers around River’s Rest, which was the site of the last remnants of the old Empire. She can often be confused with Imaera.

Green sapphires are her favored gem. You are unlikely to ever meet a follower of Aeia that does not have such a stone on hand.

As much of Aeia’s worship was lost after the fall of the Citadel, there is very little lore that has survived since then. There is one major ceremony, The Blessing Tree, in which her followers ask her for a bountiful and fertile harvest. It is often performed throughout the summer, sometimes beginning as early as Ivastaen.

CHANT (verb)
[1p cleric] You chant a reverent orison, asking for the earth and gardens to prosper through Aeia's will.
[3p cleric] CLERIC chants a short but reverent orison, asking for the earth and gardens to prosper.
[1p paladin] You bow your head and chant a short prayer to Aeia, causing white and green light to momentarily coalesce in front of you.
[3p paladin] PALADIN bows his head and chants a short prayer, causing white and green light to momentarily coalesce in front of him.
Major Sanctuary (220)
Your senses become flooded with the scent of fresh, clean water and the heady fragrance of lilies as the world around you blurs...
[Garden Sanctuary]
Surrounded on all sides by crystal clear spring water, the garden sanctuary is verdant and filled with life. Butterflies dance beneath a perpetual sun and alit upon dark violet butterfly weeds, which sway gently in a breeze scented with lilies and the distant sea. Stone benches are arranged around pockets of fiery violets, flaeshorn blooms, and pink petunias, while enormous white water lilies rest upon equally large green pads in the soothing waters.
Green light floods your vision, obscuring the sanctuary and causing it to dissolve around you...
Well of Life (308)
As you sense your souls have linked together, the delicate scent of jungle lilies wafts around you.
Condemn (309)
[Success] A host of exotic flowers bursts into brilliant bloom around TARGET!
[Failure] The heady aroma of blooming flowers wafts from TARGET, but nothing comes of it.
[Damage] A glistening blossom releases a burst of caustic mist at TARGET, inflicting X points of damage!
[Debuff end] The exotic flowers around TARGET curl in on themselves and fade away.
Blind (311)
[1p] As your faith overcomes TARGET's weakened defenses, you sense the warmth and nuturing comfort of the Mother flowing through you.
[2p] CASTER's face shimmers and vanishes, and, in its place, you see the image of a beautiful human woman with kind, quiet eyes. The leaves, flowers, and vines of a verdant tropical garden twine through her hair and caress her shoulders, with one particularly large lily spreading its milk-white petals across her brow. A faint glow halos her features for only a moment before her face, and everything else, vanishes from view.
Prayer (313)
[1p] Turning your thoughts inward, you ask for the kindness of your deity to protect you. The smell of jungle rain drifts past you, and you sense that your prayer has been granted.

Censure (316)
For your transgressions, there shall be no shelter for you anywhere that the Mother's eye sees. A garden to others will be withered dust to you. You will be homeless and helpless, rejected by all mothers, a wanderer forever without any kin or comfort.
Raise Dead (318)
[1p] Chanting softly, you begin to feel the gentle patter of rainfall upon your skin and smell the rich scent of loam fill the air. Lightly brushing your fingertips against TARGET's brow, you feel a warm rush of energy thrum through your feet and rise up through your body only to be transferred through your finger tips into her prone form.

Divine Wrath (335)
[1p]
As you pour your soul into an appeal to Aeia, you know that you are heard. You smell the exotic scents of jungle flowers and feel a comforting presence nearby.
As the scent of blossoming lilies fills your senses, a light green glow forms around you and coalesces into living jungle vines that twine over your shoulders and down your arms. They rest as lightly as a second skin, feeling almost like another part of your body. The power of Aeia has answered your prayer.
You sense a surge of vital growth among the vines that cloak your shoulders. Suddenly, a long, leafy vine shoots out and tries to wrap around a hill troll.
As your connection to Aeia lessens, the jungle vines dissolve back into light green radiance, and the radiance seeps softly into your skin.
