[[Niima]] is the mistress of the water and the patroness of sailors.

Daughter of [[Charl]] and one of the [[Arkati]] lost in the Ur-Daemon War, she acts as her father's conscience and moderates his temper. She rescues shipwrecked sailors, but tends to save the young and handsome ones first. There are a number of sea tales of a beautiful young woman, likely in her teens, pulling waterlogged and hopeless sailors from the seas. There are an equal number of unfaithful sailors who use the excuse that Niima saved their lives and required their company to stave off their unhappy wives.

Niima is a favorite for the subject of sea chanties and pirate songs. She is also popular as a figurehead for ships.

Niima's preferred humanoid manifestation is that of a spritely young woman, no older than sixteen, with very pale skin, blue eyes, and pale blonde hair. A blue-green gown clings to her slender form. In manner, she is playful and flirtatious. Her symbol is a grey or silver dolphin on a field of blue.

But come he did, and with him came horror. The marsh and surrounding forest became enshrouded in an unnaturally cold and thick fog. The trees began to die. Cruel, fiendish creatures began to roam the marsh after dark, and eventually they showed themselves in the dim half-light of the foggy daylight. Men were taken from the shanties, even as others slept undisturbed mere feet away. We began to sleep on the rooftops. But one by one our numbers lessened...some were taken by beasts, some fled. Pale white alabaster with a touch of coral striation has been expertly carved to resemble a large, upright scallop shell, the base of which is a tangle of green emerald seaweed tendrils. One arching silver dolphin holds a small oil lamp, suspended over the top of the altar.

On the scallop shell altar you see an arching silver dolphin and a hand-tied bunch of wild roses.

A small well has been carved out of the top of the sleek dolphin, near where the blow-hole would normally be, and filled with scented oil to serve as a lamp for the altar.

Reverently placed here on the altar, the small and crudely hand-tied bunch of fragrant wild roses is an apparent offering of love to Niima. Great care has gone into stringing the ends of the binding ribbons with tiny, colorful sea shells.

Patroness of the Water, Sailors and Sea Life

Niima is the mistress of the water and the patroness of sailors. Daughter of Charl and one of the Arkati lost in the Ur-Daemon War, she acts as her father's conscience and moderates his temper.

Shrines, Statuary, and Holy Places

Oteska's Haven, River's Rest

This shrine is an earth node and holy place (sanctuary), and thus one of the few safe places across Maelstrom Bay, including one of the few places where a gold ring or Planar Shift (740) rune pattern can be set. Because it is entered by a cardinal direction, creatures may occasionally venture into the shrine, but they cannot cause any harm and typically leave in short order. It is visited by followers of Niima, but it is most frequented by weary travelers and hunters.

[Oteska's Haven, Niima's Shrine]
The wide-planked floor is slightly warped from the damp. A small turf fire burns in a brass brazier, providing both warmth and a flickering golden-hued light. The whitewashed walls have faded over the years into a soft yellow color that is reminiscent of aged ivory. A lingering sense of tranquility suffuses the room. A low altar stands before an oaken statue of Niima, the Wavedancer.

You carefully inspect a low altar.

You estimate that a low altar cannot store anything inside of it at all. It also appears that a very small amount can be stored on the altar.

Although a small amount can be stored on the altar, nothing fits besides the prayer book which is already there (and cannot be removed).

>look on altar
On the low altar you see a prayer book.

Thanks to a golden pickle request, these days a large number of items can be stored behind the altar. Although one cannot pick up the prayer book, it is still worth having a look at.

The damp has taken its toll on the prayer book. Mold has sealed shut its pages and covers most of the page to which it's open. Some of the mold has been carefully scraped from the margins of the parchment. In those margins, somebody has scribbled some notes in a feeble and clumsy hand.

Solhaven, Niima's Temple

[Niima's Temple, Altar] RNUM: 14434
From this vantage point, the painted backdrop for the nave and the row of blue and green glaes clerestory windows are the most dramatic uses of color in the white limestone temple. A border of leaping and frolicking silver dolphins chases along the walls, some extended out slightly and serving as sconces, disguising the many candles that illuminate the room. The shell-shaped alabaster altar is quite ornate in comparison to the rest of the temple.

Utilizing your familiarity with the divine, you sense the distinct presence of Niima's influence in the room.

A shell-shaped alabaster altar

Pale white alabaster with a touch of coral striation has been expertly carved to resemble a large, upright scallop shell, the base of which is a tangle of green emerald seaweed tendrils. Crimson blazestar crabs, brown jade starfish, and dragonmist crystal jellyfish play along a net of beaded black diamonds.

Solhaven Cleric Guild

Located through a tunnel near the entrance of the Solhaven's Cleric Guild is a shrine dedicated to Niima.

A carved Niima statue:

Carved from the surrounding rock walls, the statue depicts Niima rising from the roiling, arcing waves of the sea, her lower half submerged. The pale blue stone that makes up the spritely girl's face is immaculately smooth, and the nymphish smile rendered upon her lips speaks of her playful nature. Perfectly round mermaid's-tear sapphires serve for the beautiful girl's eyes, each gently flickering in the light of the chamber like the ocean's undulating currents.

Roundtime: 20 secs.

An old priest wanders by, and picks up a few bread crumbs from the ledges housing the candles. He bows slowly to the statue and then scatters a few of the crumbs on the surface of the pool. The fish swimming within eagerly head up toward the surface for a bite. The old man smiles and puts the remaining crumbs back on the ledge, then shuffles off.

The flickering candles brighten for a moment, causing reflections of the waters faintly rippling surface to play upon the walls briefly.

The soft trickling sounds from the water upon the walls rises in volume, the soft sounds causing playful echoes to rebound about the chamber for several moments after they fade.

Just through the entranceway of the Solhaven Cleric Guild is another pair of granite statues depicting Niima and Charl together. It is not considered a holy place.

Torches held in polished steel rings illuminate the area, shedding cheerful light over the two statues in the center of the room. Carved from solid granite, a teenaged girl with a mischievous grin rests her hand on the arm of a bearded man with a fish's tail. They stand on a sea-blue pedestal with words carved into the surface.

Charl towers over the room, wielding a massive coral-inset trident. Instead of his usual angry expression, however, he wears a softer expression as he looks over his shoulder at his grinning daughter. Her hand rests on his arm, as if attempting to curb his temper.

The pedestal beneath the statues reads, "In the ebb and flow of our prayers comes hope as well as despair."

A third statue of Niima was located in one of the Prayer Rooms in the Solhaven Cleric Guild. It was considered a holy shrine.

This spritely woman-child appears as lithe and muscular as a frog. Her short hair is mussed, framing a grinning, flirtatious face. The base of the statue is carved to resemble breaking surf. Niima's hand trails in the water, although it is difficult to tell if she is about to swim away or splash water in your direction. In the waves at Niima's side is a small dolphin.

Wehnimer's Landing Cleric Guild

Located in the Antechamber of Others is a statue of Niima. This area is not considered a holy shrine.

Here, a spritely young female in her mid-teens is skillfully portrayed. Pale of skin, with blonde hair and lambent blue eyes, she wears a blue-green gown that clings to her slender body. Her symbol is a silver dolphin on a field of blue.

River's Rest Cleric Guild

There is a niche in one of the Alchemy workshops inside the River's Rest Cleric Guild dedicated to Niima. This area is not considered a holy shrine.

Four thick candles surround a niche in the corner of the room and offer the only source of light other than three narrow windows placed halfway up the polished granite walls.

The back of the oval niche is striated, creating the illusion of the inside of a shell. Placed in the center of the small enclosure is a driftwood sculpture of a woman flanked by two dolphins.

[Damage] The rippling silhouette of a cresting wave coalesces from the fog and crashes upon TARGET, hammering (him/her/it) for X points of damage!
[Debuff end] The dense fog around TARGET thins and fades away.
Blind (311)
[1p] As your faith overcomes TARGET's weakened defenses, you sense the merry, flirtatious delight of the Wavedancer flowing through you.
[2p] CASTER's face shimmers and vanishes, and, in its place, you see a waiflike young woman with shining blue eyes and a dazzling smile. Her pale blonde hair flows over her milk-white shoulders as smoothly as water, and you briefly smell a fresh sea breeze in the moment before everything goes dark.
Prayer (313)
[1p] Turning your thoughts inward, you ask for the mercy of your deity to protect you. You taste sea salt on your lips, and you sense that your prayer has been granted.
[3p] Aquamarine light shimmers in CASTER's eyes.
Censure (316)
For your transgressions, the water you seek to drink will be as dust, and the water you seek to escape will overwhelm you. You will drown as the dolphins watch, and they will never move to aid you.
Raise Dead (318)
[1p] You weave your hands in a fluid pattern before you, matching the tempo of your soft incantation. The subtle scent of the ocean tickles your nose as power rises within your being like the day's tide. With a wide smile, you caress TARGET's cheek before placing your hand above her heart. Wisps of rainbowed energy flow from your fingertips and into the body of TARGET, washing over her and rescuing her from the clutches of the abyss.
[2p] CLERIC weaves her hands in a fluid pattern that matches the tempo of her soft incantation. The subtle scent of the ocean flows in as CLERIC tenses momentarily. With a wide smile, CLERIC caresses your cheek before placing her hand above your heart. Wisps of rainbowed energy flow from CLERIC's fingertips and into your body, washing over you like the lapping waters of the warm southern seas, rescuing you from the darkness of death.

Divine Wrath (335)
[1p]
As you pour your soul into an appeal to Niima, you smell the fresh scent of a sea breeze, and you hear the cries of fenvaok overhead.
A shimmer in the air precedes the materialization of a pillar of swirling, blue-green water as tall as a giantman not far away from you. From somewhere in the center of the pillar comes a haunting, wordless threnody. The power of Niima has answered your prayer.
As the song from the pillar of water crescendos, it reaches a pitch that normally only trained bards can achieve, and the intense waves of elegant sound focus upon TARGET.
The singing from the watery pillar begins to fade as your connection to Niima lessens. The pillar thins, then suddenly drops with a great splash! You are utterly drenched in water.
[3p]
A fresh, sea-scented breeze washes past, and the cries of fenvaok sound overhead.
A shimmer in the air precedes the materialization of a pillar of swirling, blue-green water as tall as a giantman beside CASTER. From somewhere in the center of the pillar comes a haunting, wordless song.
As the song from the pillar of water beside CASTER crescendos, it reaches a pitch that normally only trained bards can achieve, and the intense waves of elegant sound focus upon TARGET.
The singing from the watery pillar beside CASTER fades into silence. The pillar stands for a moment longer before dropping to the ground with a great splash! CASTER is totally drenched, but you manage to avoid anything more than a few stray drops.

[Manifestation]
a swirling blue-green pillar of water
The pillar stands as tall as a full-grown giantman. It is not possible to see through it, despite its translucent nature, for gazing into the pillar reveals the same cool, blue-green depths that stretch down through the fathoms of a sunlit sea. Shimmering, sleek forms chase one another through the swirling currents at its center, but it is impossible to spy any of them long enough to determine its precise nature.
[1p] The swirling currents yield readily to your hand, and you reach into the pillar of water. One of the shimmering forms darting through the pillar's blue-green depths draws curiously near, and you briefly glimpse the curious silver eyes of the water spirit in the instant before it loses interest and returns to its play.
[3p] CASTER touches the blue-green pillar of water, and his hand sinks easily into its surface. There is a flash of silver within the pillar near him.

Miracle (350)
[1p] A playful feeling sweeps over you as a fuzzy pair of otters fills your vision. Clutched in their teeth are midnight blue mussels, which they hold tightly in place as they comically bounce and leap around you. They playfully paw at your lifeless chest, begging with their furry faces, and you sense they want you to come and play. As if sensing you cannot, they curl their sleek, wet forms briefly around your head and nuzzle against your neck for several moments. Then, they carefully drop the mussels upon your chest. A brief, child-like joy fills you as the mussels sink into your lifeless body, and the otters turn as one to slide out of sight on their slippery bellies.

Judgment (1630)
[1p]
You briefly close your eyes, and the haunting sound of a siren fills the air around you. A faint grey light builds up and emanates from your hand before it takes the shape of an ethereal conch shell!
A wave of grey vibrations washes out from the inside of the ethereal conch shell, striking TARGET!
The ethereal conch shell shimmers briefly then pops like a bubble.
