A Verb in GemStone is a command typed by the player into the Front End that they are using that causes their character to take some kind of action. Verbs can cause a character to take almost any kind of action imaginable, from attacking a monster, to putting their weapon in a container, to smiling at another character. They range from simple actions like sit to complex instructions with multiple variables, such as imbed.

Example

The player types the command LOOK into the command line, which then causes their character to look around the current room they are in, and the player then sees the results on their front end.
