This log is purely intended as an archival record of spoken words and actions of characters within the game as could be witnessed by the character or characters who were present to record them. Synopsis

Judge Manard comes to announce his ruling on the so-called Trial of the Rooks outside Moot Hall. He says he's listened to nights of trial, received countless letters of reference on behalf of or against, and weighed all events. He says it's important not to let emotions dictate what is right, wrong, and allowed, but it's not to say that the world isn't painted in shades of grey. He draws an example of a boy justifying stealing bread to feed his mother, saying a low was broken, but rhetorically asks if we're a people only of law and rigid lines who suffer no compassion. He says that's not for him to answer publicly nor in these matters.

Manard says some will claim he wasn't appointed properly and is riddled with strings, but he's here to do his job of interpreting the laws, decide innocence or guilt, and decide consequences of the latter. He notes that although it might have come across like an organization on trial, it was actually individuals. He rules:

• All defendants not guilty of Hooliganism, with no evidence of purposely endangering the town.
• All defendants not guilty of Endangering Public Safety, with ample evidence that they've defended town from enemies large and small but no evidence that they endangered the public.
• All defendants not guilty of Treason, with no evidence that any actions they took were for the purpose of undermining the town or overthrowing its leaders and government. He says membership within the Rooks while holding an elected position doesn't constitute treason and, if the populace doesn't wish the two to co-exist, then vote them out.
• All defendants guilty of Disturbing the Peace, as their actions created conflict, even if involuntarily. His sentence is one week of jail.
• All defendants except Councilor Kayse guilty of Impropriety and Conspiracy for undergoing secret operations not sanctioned by Mayor Thadston, Marshal Stormyrain, or Steward of the Guard Thrayzar, thus breaking the law and conspiring with a criminal organization to create agreements with an Imperial criminal. His sentence is two years of jail.
• Regarding the previous, he finds Kayse not guilty due to the Darkstone Bay Consortium assigning her to infiltrate the Rooks. A charity fee has been submitted to the Consortium which will benefit the impoverished, which Amos has agreed to pay, which will settle the debt and punishment for their involvement in Kayse's subterfuge.
• He agrees to the plea bargain submitted by Mayor Alendrial and Casiphia under which the latter would turn herself in and accept the guilt and punishments of all defendants. Therefore, she has a sentence of ten years and six weeks in jail, which will begin after a proper assessment of her good health.

After Manard leaves, the Ember Vale reivers' emissary Rheshay is spotted in the distance with her mithril claidhmore planted into the ground, signaling parley. By the time Sir Cryheart's group gets there, she's already in a verbal dispute with Nalver about something as he's challenging whether she intends to send warbringers to paint the earth red and she's saying if she wanted to do that, he wouldn't see it coming. Tonight is peace.

Councilor Kiyna asks Rheshay if she also speaks for Tyeid, not just Warchief Haidan; Rheshay seems to imply she doesn't. Rheshay says the reivers have told the Landing their affair is with the Imperial camp, yet the Landing still pours out like red ants to fight; Nazarr and Kelfyr bring up that reivers entered town; Rheshay says anyone who slips beyond their walls deserves what's coming.

Nairena says Tyeid abducted her and asks if Haidan controls Tyeid, while Tikba, Dendum, and Thrassus further elaborate on the situation; Rheshay says they'll address "the Eater," but the Landing stands on no higher ground by continuing to attack the reivers when they're striking at the Empire. She asks if we can at least agree on the krolvin being an enemy now that they've come. Perigourd suggests leaving the Empire alone and we can all live peacefully; Rheshay says there is no peace because the Empire will stretch and stretch until you're no more.

There's movement in the woods. Sir Geijon says the reivers are no friends based on their butchery; Rheshay asks how he can think they're monsters when the Landing freed Tyrrax--then something shoots into her neck. Leafiara, Councilor Vaemyr, Irval, and Dendum seemingly try to unpoison her (OOC note: and can't because they can't cast at a GM NPC, but what we'll really explain it as is...), but Imperial soldiers swarm the area and Commander Sablo marches into view.

Cryheart tells him not to violate the parley, but as Rheshay begins to succumb to the poison, Nalver gets her away to safety! Sablo growls and chases. Via Locate Person spells, it appears that Nalver tries to get Rheshay away from the Voln monastery, but Sablo finds them just outside the Drakes Vanguard headquarters. As people criticize Sablo's move, Nalver brings Rheshay back to Voln again--but Sablo pursues. However, by the time everyone regroups at Voln, Nalver and Rheshay are already gone and Stormy, already having been there, is saying Nalver took her again.

A growling Sablo rushes off while people scatter, but Locate spells no longer work to find Nalver. Eventually Missoni says Winston found them at the Abandoned Inn (OOC note: "Winston" in this case is her own dog, not Walkar's bloodhound). Sablo's soldiers arrive and Rheshay swings, but stumbles and misses in her state. Sablo arrives and knocks out Rheshay, telling her to piss off, then calls Nalver a pissant when this isn't about Icemule; Nalver says Sablo has no jursidiction here. As the soldiers drag Rheshay off, Kelfyr, Cryheart, Missoni, Nazarr, Nairena, Lithyia, Tikba, Stormy, Kiyna, Emperia, and Goldstr criticize Sablo's move. Sablo says they're at war and tells everyone to stop trying to knit socks for every enemy and do their jobs to protect and stop them. Dendum says he's trying, but Sablo keeps moving; Tayler says he's not on Sablo's payroll; Leafi says to stop making an enemy out of every messenger, emissary, and cook.

Cryheart's group looks for Elidal to see if he can be informed, but doesn't find him--and, meanwhile, Samfelt calls for help as he's found discarded weapons and is worried that someone has murdered or taken the barony's soldiers! He's seeking information, so everyone goes to meet him after he divulges that he's near the Drakes Vanguard headquarters. He indicates five voulges left behind, but shatters one of them out of anger. Missoni and Tayler note that there are no bodies; Dendum tells Samfelt "this is not your side of the bridge traitor" (meaning that it's past the drawn boundaries of the barony); Samfelt says he's not a traitor and points his veil iron short sword at him, but Cryheart, Kelfyr, Emperia, Missoni, and others urge peace.

Nairena assures that the Drakes Vanguard protects the Landing and doesn't attack Imperial soldiers; she, Qistra, Leafi, Tayler, and Orgamor show off their insignias as members. Missoni says the lack of remains could mean that Tyeid took them; Samfelt says he feared that was a possibility, but it seems his honor is a jest and so were the lives of these men, then says who anyone is to challenge his honor when they hide among thieves and cutthroats. Nairena says she doesn't know Samfelt, yet people speak badly of him and he should prove he's not what others claim him to be; he says they speak ill of him because they're ashamed of their own deeds. He calls them murderers and says maybe Thadston was right about some of them.

People continue to urge calm and press on what's known and not known, focusing on the lack of bodies and no trail to go on other than abandoned weapons that could have been placed in the area afterward. Or this could have been retribution for what Sablo did, or the soldiers could have been kidnapped, or they could have abandoned their duties after seeing what Sablo did, or they could have left to a sauna. Missoni and Samfelt indicate it's unlikely the soldiers abandoned their duties since their families are here. Nairena suggests that Samfelt coordinate with Landing leaders; Samfelt says he doesn't need to because this act wasn't done inside their walls. He says he's not taking the side of the Empire nor the Landing, but that this is a personal matter.

Samfelt says he suspected the reivers since one of the Landing's own went missing, but now he's not sure. (OOC note: unclear who he's referring to or when. Leafi and Vaemyr seem to think Samfelt's talking about Nairena as the one of their own, which would indicate the soldiers disappeared the night before and Samfelt's only just now found the weapons. That seems a little difficult to reconcile, but so does the possibility that he was referring to the same night of finding the weapons since no one disappeared.)

Samfelt asks if no one saw what happened; Irval says he saw it happen and says Gutstorm did it; Guts says Irval's making up stuff and he was with Berost, Dendum, and Liffy (Lithyia); Irval says he watched with happen and Dendum and Lithyia cheered him on. Dendum asks if Irval's saying he saw Gutstorm kill someone right there; Irval says no, outside the gates; Guts says now he knows Irval's making all this up; Irval says it happened where Rheshay was taken by the guards who were killed by Gutstorm. Dendum says Rheshay was taken on the other side of the bridge; Lithyia says what she saw is Sablo act in a disgusting manner; Samfelt says Sablo is Sablo. Kelfyr asks if that's an explanation or an excuse; Samfelt says he's saying the soldiers killed or taken were not Sablo.

Guts says he thinks this was done by Sablo, mad about how things happened and not killing Nalver; Liffy says Irval makes no sense; Dendum asks if Irval's saying Guts killed soldiers and then dragged their weapons to this spot. Irval says he saw Guts kill soldiers; Liffy says Irval's having delusions and Guts says he must have seen another Gutstorm because he hasn't lifted a finger in anger all night. Eventually, people reach the conclusion that Irval's referring to an entirely different group of soldiers anyway.

With nothing clear, Samfelt says he'll had the sad duty to report the soldiers missing for now and hopes they turn up. He fears their families may never know the peace of the truth, so Vaemyr presses again on whan exactly they disappeared. Samfelt says he came looking for them after Sablo was reported to have gone on a fool's errand and the concerned soldiers asked if he could try to intervene as their Emissary, but they've gone missing in their search to find Sablo. Vaemyr asks if they tried to stop Sablo; Samfelt says soldiers don't do that, though following his orders doesn't make them guilty of his actions.

Everyone forms a group to search for traces of the spiders in the Graveyard. They search the Wormwood Slough area and eventually a notice a tiny pale white spider that seems out of place, so they follow it--and eventually hear Drazinoth calling for his spiders to feed! Spiders amass and attack, but the group destroys them all, then comes face to face with Drazinoth. He asks if they're there to renew their faith and says they can turn their back on false promises and join their Arachne temple, where they offer freedom and a chance to unburden themselves of laws and falsehoods.

Samfelt asks Drazinoth what he's done with the soldiers; Drazinoth asks why he'd want soldiers when they're empty sacks of bloodless husks now or perhaps Samfelt is speaking of others. Dendum asks if he took all the blood; Drazinoth says the spiders drink their fill to feed and grow and says people can learn more of their ways by joining the temple. Samfelt says he won't join; Drazinoth says they didn't feed on any soldiers tonight. Samfelt asks what happened to them, then, and Drazinoth will still answer for what he's doing here; Drazinoth says he's allowing his flock to eat and asks who Samfelt is to interrupt when he's a peasant and owns no land. Kiyna asks if he does; he says he's Lord Drazinoth, but sold his wife's land after she passed and says he wishes she were here, but her fate was not to be with him. In pain over his loss, he joined the temple and gave them all he had.

Vaemyr, Leafi, Tikba, Kiyna, Sraven, Irval, Berost, Sir Balantine, and Guts work to disable him--but then Sraven kills him. Before people figure out whether to resurrect him or animate him, his spiders carry off his corpse.

The group returns to Voln, then to the place where the weapons were found--but Samfelt asks what the monastery was. Tayler and Missoni explain it's an Order of Voln monastery and Tikba says she's heard they're common in the Empire, but Samfelt says nothing's common on the streets of Tamzyrr unles you're always looking for trouble. A tiny bloodstained and scorched piece of a uniform flies past on the wind, landing briefly before being blown out over the bay. People speculate about the likelihood of a Remnant orb leaving the scorch marks.

Samfelt returns to Irval's earlier claim, but Irval says he doesn't know if the soldiers everyone's looking for are the same ones he saw killed since Gutstorm left no marks with his evil eye. Gutstorm says he's got no evil eyes and denies killing soldiers, so Samfelt asks if Irval his challenging his honor. Irval says he is; Guts says the only ill will he saw tonight was Sablo kidnapping Rheshay. Irval says unless Guts had an heirloom that he pocketed, he can't prove that Guts killed them and searched through their remains. Samfelt asks Guts what he'll do about someone tarnishing his good name; Guts says to check his pockets and that Dendum and Liffy were with him and didn't see what Irval saw. Dendum says he doesn't think Irval can make a claim on a dwarf's honor; Leafi asks Guts to reconfirm he's a pacifist and he does. Samfelt says one is either honorable or not; Guts says Irval talks crazy and everyone in town knows it.

Samfelt concludes that we'll never know, but others say maybe we'll know if the Remnants make a display with the bodies. Samfelt wonders what else could burn besides fire; others bring up lightning, magma, acid, or plasma. Guts shows off his hands and that he hasn't used fire and thinks traumatic events are taking over Irval; Samfelt surmises that there won't be a duel between Irval and Guts; Irval says he's willing; Guts reminds that he's a pacifist.

Samfelt asks if there would have been a way to see if magic was used against the soldiers if he hadn't destroyed the voulge; people say a loresong might have possible, but not a certainty.

As the night grows late, some go to sleep, but others return with Samfelt to the camp to discuss Drazinoth. They detect a pattern that he needs to create new broods of spiders after each attack. Vaemyr says it might be best to get people to join his cult to destroy it from the inside; Kiyna and Leafi seem to think that Samfelt would be good as a master of disguise, but he says that was only because the Rooks helped him--not that he has anything against the Rooks, and starts to say something about Casiphia.

However, while they continue talking, the scarab inside Kiyna erupts from her, then crumbles into nothing! As Magister Raelee begins to ask questions about what led up to this, the scarab inside Missoni also emerges and crumbles! Leafi sends a thought warning to Kelfyr, who's over in Silvergate Inn, and then, indeed, his scarab pops out. He comes over to convene with the others. Samfelt says he's disarmed a few scarabs in his time picking locks in Tamzyrr, but others assure him these aren't similar.

People briefly muse over the possibility of a Raznel from an alternate world or timeline, then move back to Drazinoth and a way to trap him or infiltrate his group. The group considers that they'd need someone whose face Drazinoth wouldn't recognize. Several people say they'd be poor with disguise or infiltration; Samfelt says deception might be the better option; Dendum raises the possibility of posing as corpses to be dragged to the spider den. Samfelt says we can think on it and discuss it more, but be wary of who they discuss it with and be sure they trust them not to betray them.

This leads to a discussion about Samfelt and the Rooks in which, as Irval tells Kiyna that how she feels about Samfelt is how he felt about Rooks on the town council, Leafi says she's not mad at Samfelt. Samfelt says good, because he didn't know what Thadston planned to do; she says she believes it as Thadston's a force of his own; Samfelt says anger won't get anyone far; Leafi agrees; he asks if they can find common ground and don't need to allow others to be harmed because of their own errors. He says he acted rashly and feels guilt, mostly because he helped Casiphia; Leafi says she wouldn't worry about it too much if she were him. He thanks her and says he hasn't slept well since; she says maybe they have even more in common, then.

Kiyna says she respects that Samfelt can say he did what he had to do, but then don't deny being called a traitor; Irval says not to cast stones from inside a glass house; Samfelt says he accepts what he did and there's no way to paint it differently, but he did it because he doesn't trust Casiphia. He says she demanded that he offer his life to the Rooks and be devoted to her cause when it would mean the end of innocent lives.

This is news to Leafi and Kiyna, the former saying she supposes that must have happened before Casi introduced them to Samfelt and the latter saying it doesn't sound like Casi, but perhaps Mother. Vaemyr asks Kiyna if she took a similar oath; Kiyna says she didn't. Leafi explains that Casiphia might have two personalities due to lingering effects from having broken free of Chaston Griffin's mind control. Samfelt relays that Casi used his vulnerability against him, having been nearly dead when found on the beach and not knowing or trusting anyone in a strange land. He admits that his own words that he owed them his life.

Kiyna says Samfelt betrayed her, Casi, and her friends and won't soon win his trust back, but she's no great enemy of his barony, would never mean them undue harm, and would have stopped Casi's plan if it called for their deaths. He says noted and understood; she says she'll cease her barbs. Leafi also says that before Thadston was the final interruption, she'd already interrupted by changing the subject to following Pukk's example and unmasking as a more productive path to counter Ordlyn. Irval says he'll stop his barbs as well, but still break the legs of whoever shot him if he finds him.

Vaemyr proposes that relaying information from the list in Bodohal's cabin might help restore confidence in working together. Samfelt says the name Lugadvin stood out to him, the Imperial Navy officer who offered him the option to be conscripted onto The Shiver instead of fighting in the Conquest Fete. Dendum says ears in the Black Thorn Resistance have heard from Solhaven that they're going to sail against the Blue Water Brigade and asks if the problem was one ship or the entier brigade; Vaemyr says he makes a good point since the harbormaster implicated in Solhaven was connected to Bodohal and, separately, an informant for Juramis indicated the Brigade was responsible for the capture of Magister Remuliad. Samfelt asks for the name of the harbormaster; Raelee says Wilhard.

Samfelt says he remembers names and ports on the document, some being indigo, black, or red. Some had markings next to them, and some weren't names but symbols. He also says the bottom of the document had an indigo skull that looked like a child's drawing and recalls a "Skinny Man" name. However, he didn't have time to read it over carefully. Vaemyr asks if he saw Talon on the list; Samfelt says he's heard of that person and Talon is someone people don't want to mess with because learning too much about them will leave people floating face down, but no, he doesn't recall the name on the document. He suggests asking Bodohal.

Samfelt says kicking a bucket on the side of the road was enough to get him charged with hooliganism, but he's heard rumors that they do it sometimes during the Conquest Fete--a huge arena in which people fight monsters or criminals--just to get people in there to fight.

Samfelt's growing tired, so he thanks everyone for trying to help find the soldiers. Kiyna and Vaemyr say they'll help however they can, though the latter says it seems unlikely they'll be found alive; Samfelt agrees and will inform Lord Elidal in the morning.

[General] Lithyia thinks, "Well this will make getting back to town difficult for me."

[Town Square Central] This is the heart of the main square of Wehnimer's Landing. The impromptu shops of the bazaar are clustered around this central gathering place, where townsfolk, travellers, and adventurers meet to talk, conspire or raise expeditions to the far-flung reaches of Elanith. At the north end, an old well, with moss-covered stones and a craggy roof, is shaded from the moonlight by a strong, robust tree. The oak is tall and straight, and it is apparent that the roots run deep. You also see a blood red teardrop-etched scarab, the sparking Dendum disk, the Eneque disk, the Kelfyr disk, a grizzled porcupine, a sinuous bone white serpent that is sitting, the Ketiosin disk, the granite Sluggard disk, some wolifrew lichen, some beige leggings, some wolifrew lichen, some ambrominas leaf, some ambrominas leaf, some wolifrew lichen, some ambrominas leaf, some ambrominas leaf, the Herod disk, the Ehlron disk, a mushroom and potato cake, the Arahnim disk, some wolifrew lichen, the Littlemelody disk, an old well, some wide stone benches with some stuff on it, an herbal remedy donation bin and a round silver-banded barrel.

Speaking to Leafiara, Delyorik says, "I just got called a champion. All I do is read."

Speaking wryly to Leafiara, Adelynn exclaims, "And I'm already so sleepy!"

Leafiara muses, "Hopefully it's not an indicator of something amiss at the Reach."

Speaking to Delyorik, Sluggard says, "Undefeated reading champ."

Speaking to Sluggard, Delyorik says, "Fine... I'll take it."

Emperia just arrived.

Emperia sighs.

Speaking curiously to Emperia, Leafiara asks, "Anything wrong?"

Delyorik says, "Alright... I'll go play with bandits for a bit... maybe I'll get a fun read from them."

Speaking to Leafiara, Emperia says, "It is raining...again."

Leafiara says, "Oh."

Speaking to Emperia, Leafiara admits, "I like the rain myself, but..."

Thunder rumbles in the distance.

Cryheart says, "Oh..we in the town square."

Adelynn offhandedly remarks, "Conceals illicit activities."

Speaking amusedly to Cryheart, Missoni asks, "You expected otherwise?"

Vaemyr says, "Stormy."

Speaking to Leafiara, Emperia says, "I suppose I am just less accustomed to it."

Cryheart says, "Good landing."

Speaking softly to Leafiara, Ketiosin asks, "Free shower?"

Vaemyr says, "Err well not Stormy, but the weather is stormy."

Speaking amusedly to Vaemyr, Leafiara says, "Yes, we know."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Kiyna asks, "The weather is the Marshal?"

Speaking to Niffly, Sluggard says, "Not that I needs 'em, big brain by meself."

Qistra says, "We winneds."

Irval says, "The stones say the communication of energy from the wound..."

Trial of the Rooks: Verdict

A town crier shouts, "Judge Manard will be outside of Moot Hall in a few moments and announce the verdict of the Trial of the Rooks."

Speaking squeakily to Sluggard, Niffly says, "Impressive flexing."

Leafiara sincerely says, "In case I'm banished tonight, it's been a pleasure, all."

Kelfyr asks, "Preemptive?"

Speaking to Kelfyr, Leafiara says, "Around here? Never."

Speaking to Leafiara, Kiyna says, "I didn't think banishment was on the table."

Cryheart says, "Aye."

Speaking to Kiyna, Leafiara ponders, "Oh, right."

Qistra says, "Odds."

Speaking to Kiyna, Vaemyr says, "Well, that wasn't a penalty Thadston was seeking, technically the judge could decide differently if he so thought."

Leafiara muses, "Welll... the rest stands, I guess."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Kiyna says, "Fair enough."

Vaemyr says, "But yes, that's pretty unlikely."

[Town Square, East]

Here in the center of a broad plaza near the commercial area of the bazaar stands the impressive facade of the slate-roofed Moot Hall, where the citizens of Wehnimer's Landing hold various official, religious and social functions. Facing the square are some of the town's more prosperous shops, still doing business with the many customers who still frequent the streets at night. You also see the Lithyia disk, the driftwood Nalver disk, a grumpy little gremlin, the Sirona disk, the Thyrabos disk, the Herod disk, the seaweed-covered Nalbon disk, an animated broadsword hovering in mid-air, the Arahnim disk, the skull-shaped Irval disk, the Qistra disk, the Archales disk, the Peche disk, the drake-incised Draelor disk, a massive grey wolf, the sparking Dendum disk, the Emperia disk, the palm frond-shaped Leafiara disk, a silver-tipped smoke grey wolf, a flame-eyed burnished ember fox, an animated flayed gigas disciple, the Kelfyr disk, the Balantine disk, the repousse copper Perigourd disk raised in leafy designs, the web-draped Missoni disk, a lazy wild dark grey dog, a grizzled porcupine, a large purple wooden barrel, the Moot Hall, a black imperial wagon with a glowing blue-white pylon on it and obvious signs of someone hiding.

Qistra says, "Gus Behave."

Leafiara amusedly says, "Seeing the crowd tonight makes me think these things should happen at this time of night more often."

Sirona whispers something to Drektor.

Judge Manard says, "While the Parliament of Rooks itself felt like it was on trial, it was in fact several citizens who faced scrutiny for their accused crimes."

Judge Manard says, "When it comes to the charge of Hooliganism, I find the defendants Leafiara, Kiyna, Kayse, Pukk, Chandrellia, and Drektor not guilty. While their actions are questionable, there is no evidence they purposely took action to threaten or endanger the town on purpose."

Nalver says, "You are a hooligan, though."

Speaking quietly to Drektor, Sirona says, "Told ya."

Judge Manard says, "When it comes to the charge of Endangering Public Safety, I find the defendants Leafiara, Kiyna, Kayse, Pukk, Chandrellia and Drektor not guilty. It is without saying that several invasions of our town from enemies large and small have also faced the combined might of these individuals helping to protect our gates and defend the town. That is a stark contrast to the complete lack of evidence provided to justify endangering the public."

Without debating intentions and execution, their actions, as members of the Parliament of Rooks, did in fact create situations of conflict and violence, even if involuntarily, which disrupted both peace and order in the town. Evidence has been provided to justify this ruling in the form of testimonies, property damage and unnecessary retaliatory action on the behalf of enemies. Each defendant will serve one week in jail for their crime."

Speaking to Leafiara, Adelynn exclaims, "Now I'm even more disappointed I was left out!"

In a world of laws, intentions do not excuse the order and process in which a town and its leaders operate and protect itself. By undergoing secret operations not sanctioned by the town mayor, marshal, or steward of the guard, the defendants in question chose to break the law and even conspired within a criminal organization to create agreements with an imperial criminal. I find the defendant Kayse not guilty due to her assignment directed upon her by the Darkstone Bay Consortium."

Leafiara says, "Strange, that was about the one I would have least expected."

Cryheart says, "Make sure to take a shower before serving the time."

Judge Manard says, "A charity fee has been submitted to the Consortium, and Lord Amos has agreed to pay it swiftly to which the impoverished of the town will benefit from, which will settle the debt and punishment for the Consortium's involvement in Kayse's subterfuge. The defendants who were found guilty will all serve two years each in jail for their crime."

Under the proposed arrangement established by Mayor Alendrial and Casiphia, while many Rooks were found guilty, their sentences will be compiled and served by Casiphia, for a total of ten years and six weeks in a Wehnimer's Landing jail. Her sentence will begin upon a proper assessment of her good health."

This face of the hill is completely bare of trees, and doesn't even have many bushes. You notice that even the bird and insect noises are gone, leaving you with an eerie silence, broken only by the wind. Off the side of the trail, you notice a depression in the hillside, with a dark pit at the bottom. You also see a flame-eyed burnished ember fox, an animated flayed gigas disciple, the driftwood Nalver disk, a grumpy little gremlin and the repousse copper Perigourd disk raised in leafy designs. Lithyia sheathes a vultite Niima's-embrace engulfed around the hilt by nacre kraken tentacles into one of the slots on her leather bandolier. A brief shimmer of lagoon blue light erupts from inside the bandolier along with a muffled gurgle.

You are standing on the eastern shore of the Locksmehr River at the point where it rushes out of the great river gates of Wehnimer's Landing. The twin guard towers that protect the gates rise far above the beach, perhaps as much as fifty feet above the level of the water. The heavy sea gates that span the river have been magnificently crafted so that they can be closed quickly and easily to prevent unwanted intrusions by seafaring craft. You also see the driftwood Nalver disk and a grumpy little gremlin.

A well maintained and healthy garden occupies the entirety of the courtyard. The air here is cool and crisp, but the bulk of the monastery shelters you from wind and makes the air bracing instead of chilling. In the center of the garden is a natural spring bubbling up several inches above the surface of the encircling pool of crystal clear water. A large stone and iron gate blocks the entrance to the monastery flanked by a statue of a woman carrying a crystal staff and a set of crystalline keys facing a second statue of a kneeling young man bedecked in battle-worn black chain armor. Open wagons display weapons, clothing, and various goods for sale, allowing browsers to easily peruse the merchandise. Shopkeepers tend to their wares and busy themselves creating a bustling atmosphere in this makeshift town. You also see a scruffy bald butcher.

Speaking to Perigourd, Tikba says, "And perhaps he is happy to endanger the Landing to accomplish that goal, as much as is necessary."

[Wormwood Slough, Excavated Pit]

The thick, mossy branches of the overhanging yews cast shifting shadows over the walls and floor of the excavation, and filtered moonlight flickers on the ground where a few shallow puddles of dampness have seeped in from the bog. The walls of the pit are riddled with gnarled roots and long-buried bones still imbedded in the earth, and matted with layers of dirt and moss that hint that the depression was dug at least a century ago. The south wall forms a slope leading up to the path. You also see an animated flayed gigas disciple, a greater ghoul, a death dirge, a death dirge, a hobgoblin, a greater ghoul, a piece of yellow jasper and a broken granite archway half-buried in the north wall of the pit.

The slab looks as if it had been cleaned of layers of age-old soil and debris centuries ago, and grown over again with dust and moss that have not yet managed to obscure the legend engraved into its face. Though the words are unfamiliar, the characters are similar to those common in runes and magical writings, and it is possible to decipher their probable sound if not their meaning.

The foul air from the bog below forms ghostly tendrils of rank-smelling mist that swirl and eddy around the twisted trunks of the ancient yews. The trees crowd the path, their blackened shapes guarding over several deep pits that look to have been dug up long ago and now lie half-overgrown and filled in with dirt and scrub. A particularly large excavation lies just north of the path, its near side shaped into a ramp leading into its depth. A well maintained and healthy garden occupies the entirety of the courtyard. The air here is cool and crisp, but the bulk of the monastery shelters you from wind and makes the air bracing instead of chilling. In the center of the garden is a natural spring bubbling up several inches above the surface of the encircling pool of crystal clear water. A large stone and iron gate blocks the entrance to the monastery flanked by a statue of a woman carrying a crystal staff and a set of crystalline keys facing a second statue of a kneeling young man bedecked in battle-worn black chain armor. You also see the Acerim disk, the Aetheris disk, the Yahvael disk, a scorched black marble bench with some stuff on it and a large fel tree.

A roaring bonfire demands attention from the center of this temporary town, its coppery gold flames mesmerizing as they dance. Rows of tents bordering the fire create purposeful pathways to other areas of the camp. You also see a long wooden log and a stained wooden keg.

Leaded glass windows provide a glimpse of the sun-dappled back gardens. Overstuffed burgundy damask sofas and chairs with matching footrests face a carved marble fireplace. Exquisitely detailed tapestries adorn the ivory silk-covered walls, and an Inn News chalkboard hangs above a mahogany marble-topped bar spanning the west wall, near a wide carpeted staircase. An antique cabinet stands opposite an ancient oak door, and a bubbling fountain can be seen through a dark stone arch. You also see the Kelfyr disk, a grizzled porcupine, a wooden dumbwaiter, a magnificent stuffed wild boar, a basket of sticks, a lion-carved armoire and an ancient oak door.

Speaking to Irval, Vaemyr says, "It seems highly plausible that there is an alternate Raznel from another valenance or such, whom is interfering with the Reach in order to try and breach our world for whatever reason."

Thrassus says, "Our Raznel's insanity caused her to make mistakes."

Speaking to Raelee, Kiyna says, "If you didn't catch my answer to the same question earlier, I feel like the scarab may have been more active in the time leading up to... this. Not much more active, but notably a bit."

Irval says, "If Raznel is around, then Grishom stone won't be far behind."

Leafiara says, "I grew up on stage, but I feel like they'd be able to detect the presence of my actual patron, so I'm ill-suited to this. And that's even assuming I had a workable disguise."

Vaemyr says, "As far as trapping him."

Speaking to Dendum, Raelee says, "He is likely to have many thoughts on the concept of one's alternate self."

Samfelt says, "Drazinoth almost seemed like he was willing to take anyone, especially those who would turn their backs on their faith."

Dendum says, "We could have a Paidreg Raznel or a past Raznel....either version is probably not very good to keep alive."

Dendum says, "...of course if it is past Raznel suppose can not be killed..."

Speaking to Samfelt, Vaemyr says, "There is certainly common ground, and we'll work to get there together. It's just a journey."

Speaking to Kiyna, Irval says, "One must be sure that when fighting monsters, you not less become one."

Speaking to Samfelt, Leafiara says, "It's fine, I wouldn't worry about it too much if I were you. At least, that's my thought."

Speaking drunkenly to Samfelt, Gutstorm slurs, "Own it, it built charachtature."

Leafiara says, "I've had many a sleepless night, albeit before I joined the Rooks."

Leafiara looks thoughtful for a moment, then shrugs.

Speaking to Kiyna, Samfelt says, "I would be a traitor to one or the other, I suppose."

Leafiara says, "Guilty on disturbing the peace, and impropriety and conspiracy."

Dendum slowly says, "Hoooligans."

Vaemyr says, "Kayse not guilty of... conspiracy."

Leafiara says, "Except Kayse in the latter case."

Leafiara says, "Because of the Consortium... doing whatever it was doing."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "But dint Kayse conshpire wit Amos?"

Leafiara says, "Which is still unclear."

Irval says, "That sounds like you shouldn't cast stones at samfelt, when you too live in a glass house."

Kiyna says, "Conspiracy to do what, I still don't know, but the Judge has spoken. I won't belabor the point."

Leafiara says, "Apparently the Consortium paid off her fees, if I was following correctly."

Speaking to Gutstorm, Dendum says, ""That conspiracy doesn't count."

Speaking to Irval, Kiyna asks, "What in the hells are you even on about?"

Samfelt says, "I... Irval I accept what I did. There's no way to paint it differently."

Kiyna says, "I swore to protect the Landing. I have protected the Landing. I did not swear to protect your expectations of me."

Samfelt says, "But I did it because I don't trust Casiphia."

Leafiara says, "Fair enough, I suppose."

Speaking to Kiyna, Irval says, "You see, when you serve the public, you must be willing to have asperisions of expectations cast at you."

Speaking to Samfelt, Vaemyr says, "Casi has chosen to take the punishments, so she'll do her time."

Speaking to Irval, Kiyna says, "Yes, and I have. I have protected my town both in the light and in the darkness."

Samfelt says, "She demanded that I offer my life to the Rooks, and then demanded my devotion to her cause when it would mean the end of innocent lives."

Samfelt says, "I wasn't in a position to allow that."

Leafiara explains, "For those not aware, Casiphia has two personalities, or... something like that. She was once controlled by Prelate Chaston Griffin's mind control, and even breaking free left an impact."

Samfelt says, "When I was found on the beach, I was nearly upon the Ebon Gate. She used that against me, to make me do what she wanted. I went along with it, because I had no other option in this strange land."

Kiyna frowns.

Samfelt says, "I didn't know anyone."

Samfelt says, "I didn't trust anyone."

Speaking to Samfelt, Irval says, "And being chased by Bodohal and his ilk."

Kiyna says, "Casiphia is a kind woman. It must have been her 'other'."

Speaking suddenly to Dendum, Leafiara says, "That's a good question I don't know the answer to."

Leafiara says, "Although I'd be more concerned about her soulstone ring than her mask, honestly."

Samfelt exclaims, "The list. Right!"

Samfelt says, "I almost forgot about that."

Leafiara says, "At one point I was actually concerned that the soulstone ring was what housed 'Mother'."

Vaemyr says, "Aye the one in Bodohal's Cabin."

Samfelt says, "I recognized some of the names on it."

Vaemyr asks, "Could you tell us some perhaps?"

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Me turnin inta a punkin."

Gutstorm grunts sleepily.

Seaward Gutstorm just went west.

Leafiara says, "Even I don't know that I'd recommend telling 'us'. Maybe the Mayor and Marshal."

Vaemyr says, "Well if Marshal is told, Kayse is told, and Amos is told so..."

Leafiara asks, "So just the Mayor then?"

Samfelt says, "The one name that does stand out was Lugadvin, the Imperial Navy officer who offered me the option to be a conscript on The Shiver instead of fighting in the Conquest Fete."

Vaemyr nods at Samfelt.

Speaking frankly to Samfelt, Kiyna states, "Hear me now, Samfelt. You betrayed me, and Casiphia, and my friends. You will not soon win my trust back. I will believe you did what you thought was right. But I am no great enemy of your Barony. I admit I have little love for it, but your people are like ours. I would never mean them undue harm. I would have stopped Casiphia's plan, had it called for their deaths."

Speaking to Samfelt, Dendum warns, ""Eh, human...there is word from thorn ears down in Sol Haven that they are going to sail against the blue water brigade.........was this problem with the one ship or entire brigade?"

Samfelt says, "Perhaps things may have been different if it went how I had imagined it."

Irval says, "I jest."

Leafiara explains, "For what it's worth, before Thadston barged in and provided the full and final interruption that ensured that meeting was never going to finish, I had already been trying to change the subject to following Pukk's example and having all of us unmask. I thought it would be more productive to counter Ordlyn."

Leafiara chuckles.

Leafiara says, "I was the interruption before Thadston was."

Leafiara grins.

Speaking to Samfelt, Kiyna says, "And with that out of the way, I shall cease my childish barbs."

Leafiara turns to Kiyna and cheer!

Kiyna slowly empties her lungs.

Samfelt says, "It's not my place to say if Thadston was right or wrong. But I know that I have my honor and would never put someone to the gallows without knowing their minds."

Leafiara nods understandingly at Samfelt.

Irval says, "I too I guess will attempt to cease my barbs. As its over now. And i must move on from past grievances. But If the one that shot me ever does show. I will still most likely break his legs and turn him over to I hope justice."

Vaemyr says, "Dendum makes a good point, the harbormaster that was implicated in Solhaven was connected to Bodohal right? And probably connected to the Blue Water Brigade. Juramis's informant also seemed to indicate the brigade was pretty much responsible for the magister's capture as well."

Leafiara looks thoughtfully at Vaemyr.

Irval says, "Sorry that was last one."

Speaking to Leafiara, Vaemyr says, "Juramis, when i spoke with him seemed to think also the brigade had connections to the Silver Kings as well."

Samfelt asks, "Harbormaster?"

Vaemyr nods at Samfelt.

Samfelt asks, "What was the name?"
